Cathedral Ceilings, Skylights, 2 Bedrooms plus loft bedroom, 1 Bath

Welcome to the Little Red Apple, its so sweet if it had cheeks you’d pinch them. Just a few steps to one of Woodstock's best local 'swimming holes' fed by a clear mountain stream or drift into town and explore. This cottage was lovingly restored and includes cathedral ceilings, exposed beams, skylights, a full-size kitchen with breakfast nook, screened porch, antique claw foot tub for soaking, two bedrooms plus an extra sleeping loft bedroom and meditation space - more than enough room for the entire family. The Little Red Apple has all the modern-day conveniences such as air conditioning, WiFi, and a gas fireplace. Best of all, The Little Red Apple is absolutely flooded with light.

Tucked behind a grove of trees on a short, private lane utilized by only one other home, the cottage is private but not remote. The cottage is conveniently located within walking distance to town. So park your car when you arrive and forget about driving until you leave. All the restaurants, galleries, markets and boutiques are less than one mile away. What are you waiting for? Come on; take a bite out of Woodstock!

About Pierpaolo Ciarcianelli

Pierpaolo is my property manager but this is my home so a little about me. I travel all over the world, its my favorite thing to do, but there is no place like home in Woodstock. I moved my family here in1986 after working 10 years in NYC as a graphic designer. Recently I've explored photography for fun and have had a few shows with good responses, but my art form has always been ceramics. My brother is a master potter in Woodstock and has taught for 17 years, I work in clay to keep myself centered not fed. My other passion is working with people to find them their new home in the Hudson Valley. I started a real estate company in 1990 and its grown to the largest company in two counties, Ulster and Greene. My five offices (Woodstock New Paltz, Windham, Kinston and Stone Ridge) are all galleries that rotate the works of area artists the public to visit and welcome new visitors with suggestions and information on what's happening. My husband and I have very active lives, he is a serious bike rider and I am not so serious but not a slouch eir. We both prefer to see the world on a bike or if that's not possible we will hike and walk. We built our house and did most of the design work, I have gutted and rehabbed at least 10 properties and did minor work to lots more to either keep or re-sell

Pierpaolo Ciarcianelli purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Pierpaolo Ciarcianelli chose Woodstock

We built our home in 1999 and in 2007 the 3 acres had two cottages next door and was was on the market so we wanted to buy them for our children. They really needed work so we gutted the Little Red Apple and did EVERYTHING! I laid the tile in the bath and kitchen and we super insulated it, changed windows new kitchen and baths. designed the hand made closets and put in skylights. We did it as if we would live in the house ourselves. I take pride in knowing that people who want to visit Woodstock want to have a home off the road with some privacy and be able to walk to town in a few minutes. Its exactly why we live in the same spot. Another plus is there is one other house on the road so you are not totally isolated, it is not close by but a good distance away. The other cottage is rented to our very dear friend who lives there alone and is really helpful if you need anything but otherwise you won't see him, he's the perfect neighbor.

What makes this cottage unique

Walk to everything, you really don't need a car if you are staying local. 10 Minutes from the house to town, 3 minutes to the best swimming hole in Woodstock, if you want it can accommodate 7 people. Kids seem to love the loft and the yard its very kid and pet friendly house. There is also a little stream that trickles all year at the edge of the property that is fun for little ones to explore

What a charming and sweet cottage! I was totally delighted to find this comfortable cottage within a short walking distance to Woodstock village. Everything was just PERFECT...very cozy & warm cottage....furnished beautifully, clean & neat in every detail, will surely return and suggest to all my friends. The "Red Apple" is a WINNER...

Very disappointing.

  • 1 of 5

The red apple cottage was nothing short of a disappointment. There were dust and cobwebs everywhere which leads me to believe that no one came in to tidy up before our arrival. The pillowcases and sheets on the bed smelled dusty as well. The rug in the living room was dirty and evidently not vacuumed. The dish soap in the kitchen was almost empty. The kitchen sink faucet was broken and came off every time we turned it on and off. The shower curtain was moldy and dirty. The toilet bowl was also dirty. The screened porch was crowded with different items and odds and ends. The bathroom bar soap in the sink for washing our hands was already used which I believe is unsanitary and, again, gives the impression that no effort was made on the part of the owner to prepare for our visit. Also, while I appreciated the owner taking the grill out for us and clearing the porch, the bag of charcoal left by the grill was more than half way empty.

I’ve booked several other properties through the Homeaway network and have come to expect much better.

Great place to stay in Woodstock.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in this cottage. It looks tiny in the pics but fit our family of 4 comfortably. We were able to walk into the town of Woodstock for shopping and eating out (try Oriole 9 for breakfast - YUM!). My kids played outside and my husband and I hung out on the deck. We have friends in Woodstock so we had a place for them to come to us and didn't have to impose on them when we wanted to socialize, so much better than staying in a hotel or b&b (which are a bit sparse on the ground in Woodstock anyways). Definitely recommend.

Amazing summer memories

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with a friend for a getaway weekend. The little house was beautiful and immaculate! We could walk to the village and shop (the shopping was great). We also took some great yoga classes and ate at the Bear cafe by the creek which was outstanding. We plan to go again this fall and stay much longer. Fun and relaxing. We have done lots of weekend rentals and this one is at the top for sure.

Like Goldilocks - it was just right!

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage was the perfect mixture of old and new: old beams and floorboards that give it a great, Woodstock-y character; new air conditioning, heat, appliances and furniture. Sitting on the screened porch and watching the sun set behind the trees on the other side of the meadow was a favorite pastime. Fast forward to morning, and the same spot was a great place to watch deer grazing in that meadow while the dew made a picture worthy morning mist. The cottage has two bedrooms and a loft, so you can certainly fit more people with out being on top of each other. But it wasn't so big that it felt too big for just my husband and me. I know it sounds new-agey and hokey, but the house has a really good "vibe." The main room is absolutely flooded with sunlight, which makes it feel very cheerful. The property manager was a doll and extremely flexible with our arrival time, and so helpful with recommendations about things to do. We will definitely be back! Thank you!
