Beautiful, private oceanfront house on 12 wooded acres on Islesboro Island, Maine. Islesboro is a 20 minute ferry ride from Lincolnville, a few miles north of Camden. It is an unspoiled, quiet place. The nearby towns on the mainland are some of the prettiest on the coast.
The house has four bedrooms plus a sunporch. One queen bed, one full, and four twin beds. One of the bedrooms us up in a tower. There is a full kitchen, satellite TV, wifi internet, washer and dryer. There are 840 feet of private shore filled with fat mussels for picking at low tide.
The island and the house are low-key. Although there are many activities on the island in the summer -- public beaches, little nature walks for children, community center activities, opportunities for sailing lessons, etc. -- time spent there is largely about relaxing, ambling around, thinking about what to make for dinner, wandering to the shore and back, looking at the sky and water. It is also an ideal place to do concentrated artistic or creative work.
