The Single Most Beautiful Getaway Ever

  • 5 of 5

There is not enough wonderful things I can say about the Pond House, inside and out. The views are spectacular, the layout warm and airy all at the same time. We spent our time skiiing at Smuggs (literally down the road) and just really relaxing together. This could not have been more perfect. And then you add in Ellen, who is the quintessential host, there if you need her but you would not know she even lives nearby unless you need her. And quite a beautiful spirit. I was raised in VT and now live elsewhere. This was a place that let me feel I was "back home."

Exactly as advertised

  • 4 of 5

This was my second time staying here and everything was exactly as advertised. Very peaceful and quiet with a beautiful view. The kitchen was stocked with every kind of cooking tool I may have desired, which saves me from eating three meals a day at the ski lodge or in town. I will certainly stay here again next year for skiing if I can get the time away from home.

Peaceful setting...beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic stay at the Pondhouse! Skied at Smuggler's Notch which is only a 5 minute drive. Very easy to find at night. Host was very accommodating with our late arrival and provided information for food, activities and anything else we needed. Great spot to come back to for relaxation after a long day on the slopes. Views are incredible - Pondhouse was very clean and comfortable - great space for a couple or family. Kitchen fully stocked, we ate most meals in and it was perfect. No complaints. Pondhouse was a great home away from home for our 4 day stay. Jefferson is within 5 minutes as well where there is a general store for grocery's. Would highly recommend the Pondhouse and would definitely return. Thanks Ellen for a great stay and being a fantastic host!

The Pondhouse was delightful

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at the Pondhouse in early March while skiing in the area. It was the perfect accommodations for a couple like us. It was so cozy and charming. The view is magnificent. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils as well as condiments. It is conveniently located (within an hour) to a number of ski areas and to the towns of Jeffersonville and Cambridge. Keep in mind Smuggler's Notch road between Smuggler's Notch and Stowe is closed in the winter requiring a detour around. Ellen was very responsive to our needs to restock a few supplies and provide an extra key when we misplaced the first one. My wife and I ate in every night and found the General Store in Jeffersonville met all of our needs for food, drink and supplies. I highly recommend the property and would definitely stay again if in the area.

Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My son and I were looking for a comfortable place to hang out after skiing that was away from the busy resorts... the Pondhouse was the perfect retreat! It truly felt like home away from home. Ellen was a wonderful host and gave us tips on restaurants, where to buy groceries, and directions.

We skied Smugglers' Notch and Stowe, and despite the very cold temps (-20 with wind chill as low as -40) we had a great time. Smugglers' Notch is just a few minutes down the road, while Stowe is about an hour drive, but well worth it.

I highly recommend the Pondhouse if you plan a trip to this area.

Amazing vacation !

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I went there to relax and enjoy nature this february, and we liked it so much we didn't want to go back home after 3 days ! Ellen is a wonderful person, she gave us some advice on where to practice winter sports in the region and where we could buy anything we needed. We enjoyed the calm and beauty of this place so much we want to go back next winter !

If you want a good place to relax and enjoy your vacation, this is the place :)
