This house made an absolute perfect getaway for my family. We know the area pretty well and had it in our mind that we’d spend most of our time doing small daily excursions like we usually do (shopping in Suttons Bay, visiting the lighthouse, plenty of time wine tasting, going to Cherry Republic in Glen Abor etc), but once we unpacked and settled in, we pretty much never left the house. The kids (ages 2 and 4) absolutely LOVED the beach (very sandy, not rocky like many beaches up here) and the water in the shallow little “tidepools” was warm enough for us to swim in (which is pretty much impossible to do in northern Michigan in early June). My husband and I would take short trips to a tasting room or two (there are several to choose from) or the gourmet deli in Suttons Bay each day and bring back local fare to enjoy that night on the beach after the kids went to bed. Some of my favorite memories of our week here come from the many evenings my husband and I would spend on the beach by the campfire sipping wine and listening to the waves washing up on shore after we had put the kids to bed. The fact that we had our own private beach to play in by day and relax on in the evening is amazing and made this an ideal rental spot. The house was clean and suited our needs very nicely. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep. Now that we are home, we are telling everyone we know about this place- we felt it was a great value for such a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back here again soon!
