My two sons (8, 6) and I stayed in this wonderful apartment during our recent holiday. The apartment was everything we hoped. Centrally located within the city walls of Lucca, so an easy walk to everything, spacious, clean, warm and welcoming. Fully equipped with all the amenities you need. We truly felt this apartment was our own and wish it was The owners Bruno and Ilaria were absolutely amazing. Bruno was kind enough to meet my sons and I at the train station in order to bring us to the apartment. (Also brought us to the train when we left) Upon arrival Bruno gave us a complete run through of the entire apartment. The apartment has been completely renovated and everything is brand new and designed and decorated (by Ilaria) to show off its Tuscan charm. The photos do not do the apartment justice. The apartment is extremely beautiful and has a great attention to detail. Bruno also provided a great list of restaurants and things to do during our stay in Lucca. He made sure we could reach him at time if we needed anything whatsoever. The bedrooms and bathrooms were extremely spacious. As was the common living space, we never felt like we were on top of each other. The kitchen was fully equipped. One thing I should mention the apartment is on the top floor so there quiet a bit of stairs to climb. I would highly recommend this apartment and its owners! Its truly a wonderful place and they are wonderful people. There is no question I would stay here again on my next trip to Lucca.
Our party of four have recently returned to the States after a 9-night stay in this beautiful apartment within the walls of Lucca - it surpassed our expectations and the owners could not have been more gracious.
The apartment is on the top floor, very quiet and feels very welcoming. The bedrooms are peaceful and airy, the bathrooms absolutely gorgeous, and the kitchen/dining room/living room area cozy and tailor-made for communal gathering without feeling cramped. The views over Villa Botini and Via del Fosso were lovely, as were the sweeping bedroom views towards various towers around the city and the distant mountains. As far as location, everything we wanted was an easy walk away, from food shopping to excellent dining on Via Elisa (Drogheria was a favorite), high-end shopping on Via Fillungo and pleasant late afternoon drinking in the Anfiteatro. The train station is also a very convenient 10-minute walk away.
Be sure to get dining tips from Bruno and Ilaria - all of their recommendations were spot on, particularly Il Mecenate (a stone's throw from the apartment), Gigi Trattoria and while not a restaurant per se, the superb wine/food tastings offered at Italy Small Vineyards was one of the highlights of our trip. What a beautiful space, fantastic concept and Andrea was the perfect host. It's going to be massive, if it isn't in fact already.
So very pleased with everything in our first - but definitely not last! - trip to Lucca and the Toscana region. Grazie mille!
I have just returned from a 5 week stay in this wonderful apartment in Lucca - it was my home while I attended the local language school. I couldn't have asked for more, there was every modern convenience which you don't always get in Italian apartments. Two luxurious bathrooms with brilliant showers, great kitchen and laundry which you need when you're staying for 5 weeks. While I was by myself for most of the time, I felt very safe and the landlords looked after me very well. The neighbours below were also very friendly. The fact that the apartment is on the top floor means it has a lovely outlook over the gardens of a very beautiful villa. I so loved to open the shutters in the morning and look out over the gardens. I can't rate this apartment highly enough. Thank you.
We loved this apartment so much - we didn't want to leave! Bruno & Ilaria were very helpful - they prepared the apartment for us on very short notice (about 12 hours) when our other accommodations fell through. Bruno actually came and picked us up and even helped us with our luggage up to the apartment. There are a fair number of stairs, but it was no problem - and after staying for two weeks, we had awesome calves!
The apartment is very quiet. There are no neighbors above and street noise is almost non-existent. My husband is a VERY light sleeper, and this apartment was perfect in that regard.
I also love the neighborhood - Forno Galli has great breads (try the multi cereali bread) and there are 5-10 wonderful restaurants within walking distance (and Bruno is very helpful about suggesting restaurants or good wines).
Oh - wifi was fast, and the bathrooms were perfect. It's a nice luxury to have not one but two big showers.
Excellent apartment - we thoroughly recommend it!
What a gem of an apartment in a jewel of a Tuscan city! This apartment in Lucca is very well furnished and quite spacious with two large double bedrooms and two sparkling, well-appointed bathrooms (one is ensuite). The apartment is clean, modern, well decorated and has every convenience including internet connection, flat screen television, microwave, stove, refrigerator, freezer and hair dryers, and is well supplied with all of the utensils and dishware four could want. It was also a wonderful luxury to have a spin washer and iron in a little utility room to do laundry. The living room/dining room is spacious and very comfortable. Being located within the walls of Lucca, we were just a short walk away from the sights and many wonderful restaurants and shops. Lucca is truly a beautiful city inside and outside of its walls. What a pleasure to walk the wall along with all of the bikes, joggers and people on a stroll. We thank you, Bruno, for your hospitality and your kindness in meeting us and transporting us and our luggage to and from the train station That was very kind and a wonderful convenience. We really enjoyed our stay and our lovely accommodations. Someday, we would love to return. Ciao.
We had a wonderful stay at this ideally located property in Lucca. The property is within the city wall, close to the wall so that it was easy to get up on the wall to walk and ride bikes. The property is very close to the local market stands and the botanical gardens. Restaurants, wine shops, fruits and veggie markets right near the property. We had teenagers with us and they loved it! LOVED the music festival! We all took classes at the local language school for one week. Cooking classes in town. So easy to get to the train station from the property - from train station you can get to Pisa in 20 minutes, the beaches in 20 minutes, Florence in about one hour, the thermal springs, and so much more. Great central location to spend time in Tuscany! Lots of beautiful villas to visit right outside of the wall. The owners of the property are so accommodating and do a great job making sure that you have everything that you need to have a comfortable stay. The property has just been renovated - with all modern conveniences that you could need. We can't wait to go back!
