Chalet located at high elevation (4500ft) in quiet wooded area in the town of Beech Mountain. Enjoy the cool breezes where summer temps rarely exceed 70 degrees, colorful spring and falls, and snowy winters. A cozy fire in the glass front wood stove is appropriate at night year round. Wildlife viewing abounds with deer and wild turkey regular visitors. Escape the traffic, heat, and hassles of the city.

We live close by in Hickory NC and enjoy spending quiet time in the beautiful NC mountains.
Mark purchased this chalet in 2004
We love the mountains and especially enjoy the cool summer temperatures while people 'down below' are sweltering in the heat.
We enjoy exploring old country stores and the local history of the mountain region that are close by. We also love cycling on the many backroads in the area.
Our first trip to North Carolina was a HUGE success thanks to this rental. The owners keep it extremely clean! The floors were vacuumed, the bathrooms were spotless, the beds had clean, fresh linens, the kitchen has a lot of natural light and everything you can think of to prepare meals (even a slow cooker). We were all very pleased with the experience. Everything you could possibly need for a vacation was provided.
There were plenty of beds and the layout of the cabin is ideal for families or a large group. This rental is about 10 minutes away from the Beech Mountain Ski resort. The owner was very easy to get a hold of and very accessible. In all honesty we had the perfect Christmas, complete with snow and deer.
Property exceeded expectations at a very good price. More beds than listed. Single digit temperatures outside the first morning, but the house was plenty warm on the electric heaters (which have independent thermostats for custom room control). Never even used the wood stove. I'm sure it would have been nice, but spent every day and 2/3 nights on the ski slopes (roughly a mile and a half away). Ski conditions were great, given that we had around 8 inches of snow while we were there. Only major con is very VERY poor cell service by AT&T in the area (plan on no signal at the house or Ski Beech - I only found it in the center of the ski slope and at one spot in the Ski Beech parking lot). My friend with Verizon was fine.
Very much enjoyed the Brick Oven pizza place at the top of the mountain. The owner and his family are very friendly, and the pizza is very good.
Owner very easy to work with. I would definitely recommend 4wd or snow chains if heavy snow/ice is expected (made do letting air out of the front tires on my Mazda6, but this is not ideal).
Overall very much enjoyed the stay. Will rent again if I end up back in the area at some point in the future.
Our stay at Beech was great; the house is as advertised - rustic, yet very comfortable. Downstairs beds new, sheets smelled great, kitchen well appointed, location quiet and peaceful. Upstairs loft is sort of a rumpus room, with a big sitting area and single beds. Take a pleasant hike right out the door or bike or drive to marked, wooded trails (it would take a month to hike them all). Great selection of DVDs. LP gas grill worked as well as mine at home. Owner was very responsive to emailed questions. I missed not having WIFI, yet that allowed us to disengage. It was unusually warm so we couldn't use the wood burning stove, but we are already planning a Fall visit!
