“La Alcoba de Cervantes” is part of a beautiful century old Spanish colonial building located right in the historical center of Granada. The spacious bedroom is one of the few places where you can stay in Granada and get the actual feel for what a Spanish colonial bedroom is. Beautiful high cane ceilings, amazing thick adobe walls and centenary wooden beams are just a few of the charms that this room has to offer.
The simple yet charming decoration was inspired by the Spanish colonial homes from the olden days, yet aimed at offering you a comfortable stay.
“La Alcoba” is adjacent to the beautiful Garden Café Restaurant, which allows you, during business hours, to relax in our beautiful courtyard, enjoy the breeze and be charmed by our amazing tropical garden. Lounge in one of our hammocks while you leisurely enjoy a good book, or a great cup of Nicaraguan coffee. In the morning, be sure to enjoy our complimentary breakfast. All our meals are cooked by our Garden Café Staff with high quality ingredients and without a doubt, lots of love.
La Alcoba is a 1 minute walk to the Central Square, as well as to the best restaurants in town. By staying in the historical center you will be staying in the most beautiful and safest part of Granada, with access to all the best sites that Granada has to offer. The Garden Café staff, Damien and I, will be happy to introduce you to the best spots in town and show you how to have an amazing vacation in Granada!
If needed, we can arrange private transportation to or from the Managua airport (USD 40) or the Costa Rican border (USD 60) with our trusted driver, Fabio.
Looking forward to sharing Granada's beauty with you,
Damien and Xiomi Hopkins

My husband and I spent 4 days at La Alcoba in Granada. Overall it was a great experience. The breakfast at the adjoining Garden Cafe was fantastic! Really fresh food with great menu choices. The staff were friendly and the cafe was very quaint and clean. The center courtyard was relaxing to just sit and drink some excellent Nicaraguan coffee.
The room itself is very large with high, wooden ceilings. There is a mini fridge and a coffee maker with complimentary coffee....we used it every morning! Although the room is not air-conditioned, there are ceiling fans and the air circulation kept the place cool. Also, there was no hot water in the shower....again...not an issue as the water was never really "cold" and with the heat, you were refreshed to have a cool shower!
The only negative I have to note has to do with the location. It was both a blessing and a curse. It is very close to the Central Park of the city as well as the main thoroughfare....but because of that, it was noisy. There were cars, motorcycles, people, horse drawn carts going through the streets into the night. We tend to rise early and go to bed early so the level of activity right outside our door made this a bit challenging!
So overall an excellent choice for anyone wanting to check out all that Granada and the surrounding area has to offer.
I stayed in the VRBO room for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room is spacious and ceilings amazing. The three fans and thick walls made it comfortable. Breakfast, included, was a real treat. I can still taste the coconut French toast and the passion fruit smoothies!! The restaurant is in a beautiful setting and i loved the music. The lounge room was very comfortable and inviting, especially on hot days. All the staff was warm and welcoming and the early morning taxi driver to the airport was nice and early and conveyed me safely to the airport. I would definitely stay there again.
La Alcoba was the perfect choice for our week long stay in Granada. The owners were very helpful and kind and their staff were so friendly. The food at the Garden Cafe was amazing and fresh. So many choices! The little touches in the room were appreciated: complimentary water in the fridge, coffee, wine, beer and soda available in the room at very reasonable prices. The decor is lovely and there was plenty of room to store your things and not be tripping over luggage. The room is in a perfect central location near restaurants and shopping. Granada is small enough to get around on foot but the bikes provided help to go a little further.
I will mention a few things people should know about but they did not affect our enjoyment of our room. There is no hot water for showers but it was quite warm and the cool shower was refreshing. As stated the air conditioner is only meant to cool the space near the bed and it does that just fine. The only issue is that there is no drainage hose to the outside so we had to drain the unit during the night. The owners provided us with a pail for this purpose and that worked fine. We were out all day enjoying the sights so we only used the aircon at night for sleeping.
I would recommend this guestroom to anyone who wishes to experience a beautiful colonial house with friendly people to interact with!
Restaurants we enjoyed-The Garden Cafe, El Zaguan, La Estrada, Cafe de los Sonrisas(staffed by deaf mutes), El Garaje.
Things to see-Monbacho volcano, Masaya volcano, laguna de Apoyo, Las Isletas, local market, the cemetery, Seeing hands blind massage(all employees are blind), and much more. Hasta luego!
I stayed in Alcoba in April and two different times on my visit to Granada in August. It is the perfect place for one or two people. Marta keeps it sparkling clean, coffee pot and coffee provided and a small refrigerator. Oh yes, a bicycle to use, too! Breakfast for one or two at the owners restaurant, Garden Cafe, where the food is healthy and delicious. I got hooked on their brownies each evening. The entire staff and owners, Xiomara and Damian are wonderful people.
If you're visiting Granada, pray that Damien and Xiomi have availability so that you can stay at this gem. The food at The Garden Cafe was delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself is gorgeous! Comfortable amenities, great location, great price. We couldn't have asked for more. They thought of every detail, from the bottles of water they provided daily to the bikes we used to explore town. Damien and Xiomi were wonderful, gracious hosts who truly love sharing Granada with people from around the world. Stay with them and you won't be disappointed!
La Alcova, was the perfect apartment for me. I have traveled to Granada every year since 2005 and find the city and the country to be both charming and full of adventure opportunities. The location is perfect, the room is in an old colonial and is owned and managed by a wonderful young couple.
Breakfast is included each morning in their wonderful Garden Cafe as well as a bike being provided for ones use. I was completely satisfied and would definitely stay there in the future. Owners and staff made me feel very welcomed and were always helpful with any request.
