Given that this townhome is in a complex, the community was quiet. The acommodations was clean and nicely appointed. My family and I felt secure while there was visible security patroling throughout the day. The location is ideally suited to nearby Bank of America, and Chase Bank, The University of South Florida and Florida College, University Hospital, KMart, Walmart, The Post Office, etc. There is a Publix Food Store is less than five minutes away. Everything that was promises was fulfilled.

As a couple we have spent much time internationally and domestically across the United States, from Florida to California, The Caribbean to Canada. Fortune Hill is a new brand of vacation homes meant to provide comfortable and enjoyable accomodations to families that enjoy traveling like we do.

The Owner purchased this townhome in 2001

Numerous attractions and year-round warmth along with friendly people produce a pleasant experience to most people visiting. Unit is located a stone's throw to major restaurants like, McDonalds, Burger King, IHOP, Red Lobster, TGI Fridays, Boston Market just to name a few. Walgreens and CVS pharmacy, Kmart, Publix Food Store and Sweet Bay are a block away. Everything needed to make a vacationer's stay convenient is present, thus making Fortune Hill an ideal location.

This cozy and affordable accomodation is 1 minute from popular Busch Boulevard. Busch Gardens, Adventure Islands Water Theme Park, Lowry Zoo, USF activities and campus, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Football, Tampa Bay Rays Baseball, MOSI Museum, University Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Research Center, Veterans Hospital, Downtown Temple Terrace, 30 minutes to beaches, 20 minutes to Tampa International Airport, 90 minutes to Orlando's Walt Disney.

So disappointed!

I’m sorry to say we had a very disappointing experience with this rental. I personally don’t like giving negative reviews, but wish I had known more about why I would be dissatisfied before I rented and arrived. I’m offering this negative review because believe other reviewers would like to know this too.
As you enter the complex, your direct view is of the trash dumpster. For most of the stay, it had trash lying all around it with a very old mattress and tv lying next to it. Both had clearly been there for a long time. On the second to last day of our stay, the garbage was picked up and the trash bags lying in front of the dumpster too. However, the mattress and TV stayed where they are and (I assume) where they will be when you arrive too. There seemed to be an abandoned car in the parking lot and there is a community gate which apparently is no longer working because it stays open 24/7. We did see a large group of young men loitering in the parking lot one night and did not feel safe. There is an abandoned pool behind the trash (locked and inaccessible thank goodness), half filled with green and black water. It must have been abandoned for years to be in this state.
The condo itself is old but not so bad. However, there were still problems in the condo. For example, there were ants everywhere even upstairs. (I requested pest control and when the property manager arrived at 9:20 at night she sprayed the front and back entrance but it did not affect the ant situation at all.) Internet was working on and off. We had no hot water the first day but they did come to fix it by the end of the day. The sliding door to the patio must be lifted in order to open it. The vinyl on red coach in the living room is peeling up and leaves flakes everywhere. (It was tough to keep my toddler away from taste testing these fascinating flakes.) The washer ran but then we discovered after using it that the dryer did not. We were offered quarters to go to the laundry mat. I asked if they would pay for us to take the wet clothes for wash-fold services instead since I was going to be out and didn’t want to hang around a Laundromat for that length of time. I was told yes by the property manager and she would call back, but she never did. They also could not fix it since the “repairman was not available until next week”: she said they only use one repairman.
Overall, of course it’s your choice, but I personally would never bring my family there again.

I received more than my monies spent

When I arrived, I was greeted by the property manager. She and the owner were very friendly and helpful in assisting me with any questions I had. The property manager showed me around the home and made me feel welcomed.

This home was cozy. Great for relaxing and soothing of ones mind. It is very well decorated and clean. The pictures are a true representation of the home. The beds are soft and comfortable. There are flat screen televisions and a phone in every room. The home has internet access. I was pleased with the kitchen and all of the pots, utensils, glass wares and bake wares that are supplied. The cupboards and kitchen furnishing are in great shape. It also has a laundry room with a back enclosed patio with lounge chairs and a grill. For those of us that like to wash our hair, there is a hair dryer in the bathroom upstairs.

This place is close to everything. Busch Gardens, the pharmacies (Walgreens & CVS), the restaurants (Outback, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Boston Market, and many more), the library, the banks and grocery stores (Publix and another) are all less than five minutes away.

When I compared the rates of the other homes and what they seemed to offer, I was definitely satisfied with this place. Yes, I would recommend this property to others.

Decent place after initial issues

I stayed here for the month of January, 2014. I was working from there so I needed fast internet access. Lana gladly obliged and upgraded the speed. However, her Netgear wifi router was flaky and unreliable. So, I had to call Brighthouse (the cable company) and they brought in their own router which was faster and rock solid.

When I first got there, the air conditioning wasn't working. But it was fixed the next day (a new unit replaced the old). Then the heat wasn't working and that was fixed shortly thereafter too.

Lana (owner) and Pam (the property manager) were nice to deal with. They returned my calls with a reasonable turnaround time.

At first, I was disappointed by the age and condition of the appliances, cabinets, etc. The cabinets were cheap particle board. The appliances were older. But once I started using them, they were fine. The pictures posted are accurate.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay and once I got over the initial issues, things went smoothly.

The big question: would I stay there again? Probably not. I would prefer to stay in a newer building with newer stuff.
