Overview

Waimea Studio Rental Photos and Description

Studio Apt inside main hosue 1 Bath (Sleeps 1-2) private entrance & kitchenette

A show case Dome home now available for nightly rental. Where the NaPali meets the Waimea River. This 1 bedroom studio in the main house with its own private entrance and lanai with kitchenette is very quiet and very private and only for a select few. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this property offers a cloud like atmosphere, real Hawaii'ana, and it is as laid back and small town as it gets. New memory foam bed with very high thread count sheet. Sleep in peace like you have never slept before.

THIS IS A DUPLEX WITH YOU ON ONE SIDE AND ME ON THE BACK SIDE WITH 100% COMPLETE PRIVACY. THERE ARE NO OTHER GUESTS ON THE PROPERTY AT THE TIME OF YOUR VISIT. THERE IS NO ONE UPSTAIRS NOR DOWN STAIRS. THIS IS NOT A MULTI UNIT PROPERTY WITH SHARED ANYTHING. IF YOU PREFER TO LISTEN TO BIRDS RATHER THAN OTHER GUESTS THIS IS THE ONLY OPTION IN WAIMEA VALLEY.

We are located just a few short miles from the base of the Waimea Canyon, also known as the 'Grand Canyon of the Pacific' with it's ever changing hues and colors.

Enjoy the soothing sounds from 'The Menehune Ditch' as it passes through the hollow lava cliff before ascending into a waterfall that feeds the live water pond just outside your front door. The tranquility of this valley radiates from the cliffs and from the river, you can almost hear echoes of voices from times gone by. Walk to the back of the property and relax by the river or hike up the river into the true back country. Or just lounge on the lanai enjoying the gentle flowing water, gazing at the cliff while listening to birds of all kinds and the .

We are close to the most beautiful beaches on Kauai...Barking Sands and Polihale State Park, and you cannot beat the sunsets in the West. Only a few miles further up the road you will experience a birds eye view of the world famous NaPali Coast from Koke'e National Park.

A few short miles or less up the road brings you to the ruins of an old Russian Fort built when an unsuccessful attempt was made by the Russians to take control of Hawaii. And in the middle of Waimea Town you will see the site and the beach where Captain Cook landed and became, the first westerner to visit the Hawaiian Island.

Owner Description: I fell in love with Kauai during my first vacation here in Dec 1999/Y2K. I decided to stay. I built my childhood dream dome in the back county where horses are not only common, they roam free, often stopping at my house to snack.

I made a movie of the building of this dome, there is a short version streaming on you tube just do a search for monolithic dome homes and you will see me!!

About jo

I designed this house when I was 7 years old and built it with my own hands in 2008 after living in a tent on the land for a year. I also made a short movie about the building which is streaming on youtube if you search for monolithic dome homes... mine is one of the first videos that are listed. There are amazing laughing birds called Erckels Frankcolins that are just awesome.

jo purchased this studio in 2006

Why jo chose Waimea

The moment I saw the land I knew it was for me.... it was quiet, private and it grabbed my heart like a young Donnie Osmond.... hahahaha (giving my age away!)

Dome away from Home!

  • 5 of 5

The Dome was perfect for us! Beautiful country setting ~ fabulous cliffs in front with lots of tropical and fruit trees, foliage and a serene stream running through the property. The room has a private entrance and the deck is perfect for grilling and enjoying the wonderful view and sounds.

We had everything we needed ~ it was very clean with a comfortable bed, bathroom with shower, separtate sink area, small refridgerator, microwave and toaster oven, dishes and utensils....Jo even has a small grill. Love the setting, love the decor ~ short drive to Waimea Canyon, many beaches and local shops. Jo is wonderful! We got to talk with her often ~ the price was right and we have recommended the Dome and will most definitely stay there again!

Kauai's Monolithic Dome

  • 5 of 5

Jo's house was great! It is a beautiful location with a view of hills and cliffs. It seems a bit off the beaten track but is actually just a short drive from Waimea town. Jo offered us advice about the hikes and beaches we were planning to go to and was a very friendly host. We were afraid of the driveway at first but it treated our compact rental gently. We loved sitting out on the deck in the early morning and in the evenings. The room itself is spacious, nicely decorated with wall art and has a fridge, microwave, dishes and other equipment. However, the bed could be more comfortable (maybe it was too soft?) We would definitely recommend staying in the Dome with Jo if you come to Waimea!

Special Birthday trip for my Wife!

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent time!!!! Jo is a great owner and extremely helpful. The property is accurately described; no surprises!!! If you are desiring a country setting, away from the resorts, staying in an area where the "folks" live, this is it for you. There are two grocery stores in Wiamea, about 2 miles away and various farmers markets to enjoy wonderful local ripe fruit and vegies. You will definitely need a car as public transportation is minimal. All the sites on the island require a lot of moving around to see the areas. This was our first trip to the islands, and Jo provided us with and wonderful introduction to Island life! Many thanks Jo...

...and OBTW...you are quite a gal!!!!

That's about it for now...next time over we'll have that wine!!!!!

Very quiet

  • 3 of 5

It is a very quiet location that is located up a side street near the Waimea canyon. The space is small and the kitchen is really too small to cook anything. The front deck is comfortable and the bedroom is aesthetically pleasing; however, the bed is very uncomfortable. It is memory foam and has seen better days. The grounds are well manicured and Jo is great.

Owner's Response: The top grade memory foam bed is vey very new and used by less than a dozen guests. It has a comfort level that is adjustable from firm, medium to soft however guests with extreme physical issues may still need more.options. I wish my floatation tank was set up already, This may have been the answer to this guests personal needs.
