The property is a 3 Bedroom duplex with 3 King very comfortable beds in each room. There is also a pull out couch in the downstairs living room and space for 1 more on the upstairs couch which is also very comfortable. The house is located 3 blocks from the J subway train which brings you into the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 5 stops or abut 12 minutes. The L subway train is about 6 blocks in the other direction which brings you into mid-town Manhattan in about 20 minutes. There are 5 brand new flatscreen tvs in every room and every movie channel. I will be doing up the back yard in th coming months with a deck and outdoor setting for the summer and spring months and will have a big BBQ back there for guests use.

We had a fantastic time on our family trip at Brendan's place! All of the furnishings were brand new including dishes, appliances, bedding and towels! His attention to detail is amazing! It was like staying in a brand new, fully furnished condo. We stayed for 9 days and we were only 4 blocks away from the subway stop. The neighborhood is quiet and the beds? Oh, so comfortable! Grocery stores were close by. We plan on recommending his place to all of our friends and extended family! Thank you Brendan, really! We had a wonderful New York experience and created a lot of memories....

BETTER THAN THE PICTURES

Brendan was the best property owner I have had the pleasure of dealing with, he made our stay SUPER EASY and made us feel welcomed from the very get go! The house was better in person than it was in the pictures and it is conviniently located to the subway (J Train) and grocery store; about a 5 minute walk. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very roomy for being New York. Brendan was able to let us order the Floyd Mayweather fight! Thanks for your hospitality Brendan and I would definitley recommend this property!!

A GREAT HOME AWAY FROM HOME

We (4 adults, 2 teenagers ages 16 & 17) stayed in Brendan's apartment over the Easter break. Although I was initially a bit unsure about staying outside of Manhattan (for a change), I have to say that it was the right choice especially re quality and price for our needs. You will not often find an apartment like this in NY.
It was well equipped with all fundamentals and more and the extra space, TVs, etc. was great considering the different requirements of 6 people. Added bonus: no fighting over the bathroom in the morning :-) It was no problem to kick back - without being crowded - order a pizza and chill after a day of roaming around the city.
Re the neighbourhood: Bushwick/Jefferson Ave is not a high-end city centre area. It doesn't have a great reputation especially if you listen to your taxi driver! That being said - don't let anyone put you off. We took walks around the neighbourhood - it is a pretty average, working-class residential area. Some streets were spic and span, others less so. We experienced friendly neighbours, helpful NYers in the local supermarket and subway.
We could keep the windows open at night and not be disturbed by street traffic - anyone who travels will know that this is normally impossible in a city (hotel or otherwise) - and if the neighbour upstairs was a bit loud one night, it seemed a fair trade off!
The J train is a few blocks away, the express train takes 15 mins into lower Manhattan. The supermarket by the J is well-equipped and had everything we needed. The L train is 10 -15 minutes walk - in a not-so-pretty neighbourhood that we subsequently avoided.
MTA is not great at informing people about rail works - the J train was signposted (days in advance) as being closed over the weekend, but was actually working. So don't take the signs at face value - check first, you are not dealing with German efficiency :-)
On this point, we tried an alternative for late nights when we didn't want to get the J or L train or pay for a car service from Manhattan - we got the subway (N or Q etc) to Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn (near Carroll Gardens). We spent a few evenings here, checking out the great restaurants on Atlantic Ave and Fulton Street and spent $20 in a taxi back to Jefferson Ave.
We had a great time in this apartment. Thanks to Brendan for a well-kept property. We recommend the apartment to similar groups.

FANTASTIC

The property was just as we expected, which was perfect. Brendan made sure we had everything we needed and we didn't need to do a thing (like washing sheets, cleaning etc) before leaving, which was nice as we had to leave at 5am on our last day. Loved it and would definitely recommend!

ALL THAT GLITTERS ISN'T GOLD!

When we first arrived we noticed that the walls were dirty and the basement had a bad smell. Upon further investigation we found the so called maid had left behind the basement toilet full of dirt and grit, cob webs, dust bunnies, and dirt everywhere in the house. Less than a day later the sewer system backed up into the shower, there was actual sewage floating in the shower. We called Brenden and he said he would have it taken care of the next day.( During this time we couldn't use anything water related in the basement) The next day a plumber came and told Brenden what he would have to do and how much it would be. We over heard Brenden very angrily tell the plumber he would not except it and told my daughter that he would call around and have someone come the next day. Thursday it was finally fixed and we had no further problems with the plumbing. Other than the plumbing the house has LOTS of spiders,mice, and the long term renters upstairs sound like giants over your head! We informed Benden and he said he would get traps, but he never came back with them. We dealt with these issue and didn't complain. And then on our long drive home to Michigan Brenden sends us several messages accusing us of clogging the main floor toilet. We had a horrid experience last year and was very hopeful this one would be better. Lesson learned. We don't plan on EVER renting a vacation property again.

Owner's Response: Im appalled at this review from these guests. I just opened my reviews to find this one from the most irresponsible, worst guests I have ever had in the house since I've been renting! These were the only guests out of many that have stayed in the house, that came a month before the rental period to check the house and when they did,UPON FULL INSPECTION, were praising the house saying how much they loved it and how their mother was going to love it so much when they come! Why didnt they say anything about dirty walls or bad smells then??! Because there were none! I showed this review to my cleaning lady and her jaw dropped!! she cannot believe that these people had the audacity to write this after the way they left the house and what they left me with. It was clearly stated that there are no parties allowed in the house and that was totally ignored. My cleaning lady asked if they were operating a restaurant bc it took her 3 hours to clean the grease tracked ALL around the house and the stove which was a wreck. My neighbors upstairs complained about a mouse after they left,and it was clear why as the exterminator explained to me, open food containers everywhere in the house and grease practically in every crevice of the floor will defintely attract a mouse. The exterminator came in to resolve this issue right after they left where he said absolutely the problem was the open food and grease that would attract them and assured me that the problem was taken care of. I havent had a problem since they left. Secondly their utter disregard to stuffing things down the toilet was absolutely ridiculous. I was wondering why all of sudden I had a problem with the toilet lines seeing how the house was just totally gut renovated and rebuilt 4 months prior to their stay, PLUMBING, electrical, WALLS, BASEMENT and all!!! but didnt question it and had the lines snaked and flushed. But then when it happened again while my cleaning lady was cleaning the house after they left, I said enough is enough and had the sewer system people come in and put a camera down the line to see what was down there! To NO surprise we found a black plastic bag, along with a tampon holding it in the 3 inch drain pipe! I had to rip the drywall down, pull out the whole system and clear it out.I have had multiple guests from around the world stay and love the property, even repeat guests within a 4 month period.These people were "THE" nightmare everyone speaks of and totally disingenuous in this review

The apartment was very modern, clean and comfortable. It was great to be so close to subway and to have so many stores around the corner. It was nice to be able to cook and make drinks..not to mention it saved us money.We enjoyed everything about our stay and look to rent this place again.
