About Owner/Property Manager

I am the Great grand daughter of Gus and Anna Spitzmiller, original Pioneers to Grand Lake. Gus was a plumber and his son Gordon married my Grandma Barbara. My dad, Chris Lorens, left the property to me when he died in 2008, and I have been making it 'top flight' since. I am a proud Colorado Mountain Woman, who now resides in San Diego, but spends lots of time where my roots are, i.e. Grand Lake.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this cabin in 1910

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Grand Lake

It is full of soul and history and it is sooo beautiful!!!

Sits on colo river where it enters Shadow mtn. lake. I bet the Ntl Forest and Park Service--who own all the bordering land--wish they had taken this side of the river too, when they confiscated the Park land up here in the early 1900's.

What makes this cabin unique

Fully remodeled and luxury--through and through.

There really is not a property that compares in the Grand Lake region. Because you are on a 6 ac. meadow bordered by the river and lake--and have all protected land across from you--there really isn't a location in the entire County that compares with this one! The view alone is worth a billion dollars$$$

Perfect off season getaway

  • 5 of 5

We came to Colorado for our honeymoon. My wife wanted a cabin by a lake in the mountains. She was thrilled that I found exactly what she wanted and said it reminded her of when she lived in BC as a child. The cabin was wonderful. The bedroom we used had a view of the lake and when the window is open in the morning you see the sunrise over the near mountains on the other side of the lake. The view from the kitchen and living room is of the river feeding the lake and there were always ducks and other birds in it as that was just about the only unfrozen water in the area while we were there. The first day we had two moose come right up to the cabin and eat the grass by the firewood. It was awesome! The location was perfect as it was five minutes to grand lake (town) and 15 minutes to Granby (bigger town). The highlights f our trip were all within 30 minutes drive. Horseback riding, waterfall trails, hot sulphur springs. The last night we had a fire going in the cabin. When we arrived, the manager had set out some champagne and candles for us as they knew it was our honeymoon. The cabin had all of the dishes necessary for us to make a full gourmet meal for our candlelight dinner. The only suggestion I have to supplement the kitchen stock is possibly a small bottle of Olive oil. But we were able to make do without it as we hadn't thought to buy it at the store for just a fee days. We had a great time and seriously no complaints about the cabin. And the timing was great, there were not a lot of people in the area. But if you did go in the summer for the lakes, you would still be in the perfect location. Thank you Tracee!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely comments and taking the time to be so detailed. I am sure it will be helpful to many future guests considering our cabin. I will buy a huge/Costco size bottle of olive oil, right away, as I bet everyone would love to have that there for them. I am so glad you planned the perfect honeymoon for your new wife, as I know you were very thorough in your planning and it is so nice that you know her so well, as to have gotten it all right! These things can be nerve wracking sometimes! We hope you return and we wish you the best on your future together. Again, Congratulations on your wedding, and thanks for choosing The Lorens Ranch for your honeymoon. Tracee Lorens

A Glimpse of Heaven in Grand Lake, Northwest, CO

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Luxury Grand Lake Cabin was fabulous! It went above and beyond our expectations. The view is breathtaking from the river front right out the front door of the cabin and the continual flow of the river is very calming and relaxing. We saw two rainbow trout swim by in the river, but we never seemed to have our poles out at the right time to catch one. I hope you have better luck. The adventure of taking the canoe out (at no extra rental charge) was just one more bonus to the stay. We viewed beavers, osprey and many other wildlife. The cabin itself was very clean and very luxurious! I rate the shower and kitchen alone 5 stars each. Tracee provided us with all the amenities one would need, plus more. There was plenty of towels, bedding and blankets. I can not say enough good things about this place.....it truly is a glimpse of Heaven and "A MUST STAY" I almost did not want to write a review and share my great find, but it is only right to share. I want to thank Tracee for sharing her piece of Heaven and I look forward to returning sooner than later. Debbie Hogan, bellabringsjoy@hotmail.com

Perfect for a relaxing get away in Grand Lake!

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was just right! Ready and waiting for us to arrive! Enjoyed the easy access to Hwy 34 and Grand Lake! Used as a base camp for Tubing, Snowmobiling and fun fun fun! A nice moose stopped by for coffee on our departure morning and peaked in the windows to make sure we were ready to head down the road in a timely fashion! Will try this place again in the spring!!!

Cute cabin by the river

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with our stay at Tracee's cabin. The cabin is a mix of old and new. New kitchen, new bathroom, old (gorgeous!) wood burning fire-place and a historic cabin. We have two boys (3 and 5) and they were thrilled with the fire pit and playground. We had plenty of space to play and explore. Some great extras: lots of firewood, many places to sit and contemplate, easy access to town, a sound of the river right out of your porch, and plenty of places to throw endless sticks for the dog and rocks for the boys. Day 3, we decided to go out on the lake and Tracee responded within minutes to my email for directions to the kayak. Since everything was closed for the winter in Grand Lake, we were happy to have the option to take the boys out on the Lake. I also recommend the hike around Monarch Lake. We saw four moose and the colors were gorgeous. On our second day, my 5 year old declared he never wanted to leave! If you are traveling with little ones, I would recommend bringing paper/plastic products since the cabin has only dishes and glass. Especially if you plan on eating outdoors. Tracee - I looked for a baking sheet and a colander! Couldn't find them....would be a great addition to the kitchen if you are looking for improvements! We will definitely come back to the cabin next time we travel to Grand Lake. Great place to stay.

absolutely charming

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this lovely cabin for a quick weekend getaway from the Denver area. The kids had an absolute blast fishing in the river that is merely steps from the house. There was plenty of space for the kids to run around and explore, plus lots of seating areas for the adults to enjoy the river or relax by the fire we built in the outdoor fire pit. The cabin was well appointed, tastefully decorated and comfortable. The fact that there was no TV was a non-factor as the kids were so happy playing outside. There was even a swing set for the little ones to enjoy. The cabin is also very conveniently located to the town of Grand Lake, where we rented a boat for the day, enjoyed some ice cream and even bowled at the local bowling alley while enjoying some delicious pizza. Tracee was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend this sweet cabin for anyone who wants to experience a little slice of heaven in the Grand lake area.

Awesome host

  • 5 of 5

Some friends and I stayed at Tracee's place over this summer. It would probably be smart for me to write something negative so as to keep it hidden, it is impossible to find anything negative to say about this place - very close to the lake, right next to the river that feeds the lake, great cabin with lots of amenities, and lots of firewood (very important for me and my friends). On top of all of this, Tracee was an absolutely awesome host. She even took some photos of us and forwarded them on. She was super accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend this place and getting to know Tracee!

The property faces the Colo river where it meets the wetlands and Shadow Mtn. Lake. You look to open Forest Service land and then gorgeous, snow-covered peaks along the continental divide. Kayak or canoe ( equipment included on us) with the Osprey, or use our paddle boat or reading dock, with zero gravity reclining chairs, located right where the river enters the lake, with the best view in Grand County.

The town borders Rocky Mtn. National Park and is located on the highest natural glacier- formed lake in Colo, and has the highest yacht club in the world.
