SEPTEMBER SPECIAL AT LAZY LOON LAKEFRONT COTTAGE NEAR CAMDEN

Camden Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Private 2 Bedroom Lakefront. Fieldstone fireplace. Kayaks & canoe included

Their loss, your gain!! We had a one month cancelation in September at Lazy Loon, a quiet, private, well-appointed, lakefront cottage just minutes from the coast of Maine, Camden, Belfast, Rockport, and Rockland. Swim or fish in the pristine waters from your private floating dock, or enjoy the abundant aquatic wildlife and natural shoreline in kayaks or canoe. Have your morning tea or coffee on the spacious deck overlooking this sparkling lake, or just sit quietly at the kitchen table and watch the sun rise over picturesque Hobbs Pond. Explore nearby Camden Harbor, or travel the endless miles of Maine coastline. Hike in Camden Hills State Park, or drive up Mount Battie to experience breath-taking views of inland lakes, the islands of Penobscot Bay, and scenic rocky coast. Go for a sail on a historic windjammer, or pack a picnic lunch and discover the rocky shore at Beauchamp Point. Tour the Owls Head Transportation Museum or visit numerous art galleries, including the world class Farnsworth Museum in Rockland featuring their renowned Wyeth Collection. Visit Cellardoor Winery (mainewine.org) in nearby Lincolnville to wander the vineyard and sample their excellent wares. While at Hobbs Pond, visit the quaint village at Hope Corner which features an authentic, modern-day blacksmith shop, jewelry gallery, art center and True Park. Have lunch at Hope General Store, where you can get delicious sandwiches and pizzas, all your cottage provisions, as well as an impressive selection of imported and domestic beers and wines. You can even visit Rosie and Opal, our resident elephants at Hope Elephants (www.hopeelephants.org http://www.hopeelephants.org ) rehabilitation center! Later, you can enjoy a casual dinner at Hatchet Mountain Publick House and Antique Gallery, all located just one mile from Lazy Loon. At days end, relax before our beautiful fieldstone fireplace and allow yourself to be entranced by the peaceful night sounds and hypnotic call of the loon. Visit in September or October and enjoy a front row seat to our spectacular foliage. Enjoy our scenery, our people, our beauty, and our heritage. We are Maine. Join us for a week or two and see what all the fuss is about!!

Lots of Loons!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great week here this summer. This was our first VRBO/Home Away rental and we couldn't be happier. The house was exactly as advertised and we found the owner and the rental agent to be very responsive and helpful.

I would note that the one missing point from the description was the propane grill. It is not listed as one of the amenities but there is one available to use.

So here are a few of the highlights of our stay:
The house was clean, comfortable and well stocked. We were ready for a week of "unplugged" but we were pleasantly surprised by good cell phone reception.
Hobbs Pond is crystal clear and deep. There were so many loons, swimming by, calling, we even saw one carrying a baby on her back. Two bald eagles flew by and stopped in the white pine across the pond from the house. We swam, kayaked, canoed and did plenty of fishing (and catching). The house even had the pot and lobster crackers we needed for the obligatory Maine lobster dinner. There were board/card games for the few gray days we had too.

As for the surrounding areas, we explored Hope, Camden, Rockport and Rockland. All were worth the visit. Hope Elephants was very interesting. There is a Hannaford grocery store in Camden for anything you can't get at the Hope general store. Camden was great for ice cream and shopping. We visited Andre the Seal in Rockport. Our favorite was Rockland. We hired Captain Wotten to take us lobstering and had a great tour of the harbor as well. We kept returning for the art galleries, food and to see the harbor seals.
Now we are looking forward to next year!
