Bradenton Beach House Rental Photos and Description
2 Bedrooms/2 Bathrooms, Big porches, steps from beach and bay, pets welcome.
The house stands on stilts and has 3 levels. Ground level contains 2 garages that can be used as storage, and a carport for at least 3 cars (plus 5 more parking spaces). In one of the garages, guests will find all beach gears they need – beach carts, chairs, umbrellas, floaters, balls, etc. Each of the units is 1630 square feet (!) living space (that's more than some single family houses!) and has 2 private bedrooms/2 full bathrooms with spacious living room, kitchen, laundry, spacious porches and balconies.
Both levels receive very pleasant breezes that blow across the island from the Gulf. There are many days in a year when guests find the air conditioner unnecessary.
Eastern half of each unit features an open concept, tiled (upper unit) or hardwood (lower unit) living room, kitchen with breakfast bar, and dining room with a big round table and comfortable sofas. Two french doors lead to a very spacious porch furnished with outdoor furniture. Adjacent to the kitchen is a laundry room equipped with washer and dryer as well as an iron and an ironing board. Kitchen has a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, stove with oven, double sink with garbage disposer and dishwasher. Cupboards contain plenty of cookware, dinnerware and cutlery for gourmet dining and wining. Entertainment center has a big screen high definition TV (HDTV) and DVD player. There are plenty of fiction and mystery books by best American authors provided for avid readers.
In addition, we provide a WiFi internet connection and free phone calls within north America (optional). Guests can set up a cozy office space using provided table and chairs and telework (that might be hard to do in the relaxing atmosphere of the island :-))!
There are two spacious tiled bedrooms on the west side of each unit. Master bedroom has full bathroom, walk-in spacious closet, night stands, big mirror, chest of drawers, comfortable queen bed, and cable TV. Guest room contains a closet, night stands, big mirror and two twin beds. Large glass sliding doors lead from both bedrooms to the balcony overlooking path to the beach along the West side of the house.
Another full bathroom is located off the hallway. In the hallway closet, guests will find supplies of fresh bath and beach towels, linens, blankets and extra pillows.
In total, the two bedrooms provide comfortable sleeping for family of four; however, there is plenty of sleeping space in the living room for two more persons.
We are animal lovers and consider pets family members who deserve a vacation too. Polite pets are welcome to stay for additional flat fee needed to help us cover extra cleaning expenses. Please note, we are charging a flat $100 fee for small to medium pets (up to 2), and an extra $50 (total $150) for large pets (up to 2) or 3 or more small pets. Inquire with owner for special cases.
If you are making a last minute reservation, we will require you to also add a $30 key service fee, so you could pick up the keys at the local management company. For advanced reservations, we mail the keys with prepaid return envelope to your address of choice at no extra charge.
If you have generated a Booking Request using Book Now button, and some fees are not automatically included, we will adjust the final cost by subtracting the missing fees from the $300 refundable security deposit. Please check with owners if in doubt about applicable fees.
We are biologists currently living and working in Maryland. We love Florida, nature photography, clean environment, animals and adventure.
Beach and Bay Retreat manager purchased this house in 2011
Why Beach and Bay Retreat manager chose Bradenton Beach
We always wanted to own a house in Florida. We traveled all over the state from Panhandle to Key West and from the Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico. Anna Maria Island won our hearts with its white pristine uncrowded beaches, clear calm water of the Gulf, abundance of birds and marine creatures and absence of high risers and strip malls.
We became owners of this house in late 2011. We fell in love with its airy light atmosphere and generous floor plan. From the flat roof, one can overlook long stretches of the island and observe sunrises over Sarasota bay and sunsets over the Gulf. We have made lots of renovations, including new roof and porches, to make sure our guests feel as comfortable as possible both during short vacations, and long monthly rentals.
What makes this house unique
We like that the house does not stay right on the beach front. This creates a more common home-like atmosphere, as if you would live in the city, yet know that you can walk 200 steps and find yourself in a completely different world of the beach, with bright sun over deep and warm white sands. As an extra bonus, it is attractive for people who would like to vacation on the budget, yet be ridiculously close to the beach and the bay.
Guestbook comments from the owner
The house was so great. We are feeling so rested! ...
We loved the house and really appreciate you working with us to get us booked on a last minute vacation.
This vacation home was everything it was advertised to be; clean, comfortable, loaded w/amenities to make our stay enjoyable. It was very roomy, and felt like a home away from home. The walk-in closet was incredible!!! The home is located in a safe neighborhood, and entry into the stairs from the outside is secured w/a locked door off the carport, which I considered extra security. We appreciated the locked storage garage, as we brought our bikes & bike carrier, which we stored in the garage. Any questions, or mechanical issues that occurred during our stay, were immediately addressed by the owner. We love vacationing on Anna Maria Island, and eating at the numerous restaurants, riding the free trolley, and hanging out at the beach. We definitely will rent a unit in this home in the future!
I enjoyed my stay immensely here the place was clean, nice and great view! just a few steps from the beach and right smack in the middle of the entire island so not far from each end of the action of Holmes Beach etc.. The Trolley is the BEST thing! No need to drive anywhere!!! It is less than one block to beach also!! We rented the ENTIRE house upper and lower. I NEVER ever get to go on vacation so this was a rarity so this is a memory I will have the rest of my life! If I could I would move to Anna Maria Island! I am from Toledo Ohio so this was PARADISE to me! I met my friend and her family who lives in Gainesville at this condo. Sharky's Bar and Grill is one block and a local convenience store open 24/7 next to that! I highly recommend WAVESPLASH WaterSports for a Wave Runner tour also! THIS was the highlight of my trip! Pricey but 100% worth it!!! Although I loved your place due to price if I came with just my spouse and I, we would have to look for a more meager less pricey, less luxurious place as this one would not be not even close to affordable to me at all sadly! I split this with the other people is why I was able to afford this one time. The ONLY negative I have to say is that I did NOT like the check out time, it was WAY to early and hard to get out by 10am! it was a STRUGGLE! I heard my friend on the phone several times with the owner who seemed very nice but kept saying she had people watching us that lived around the condo, although I see why and that is great that you have people watching your place while it is rented, I thought that was kind of weird to tell us that like we were bad renters etc??? or that is how it came off to me? We left the place SPICK AND SPAN, did ALL our sheets/bedding towels and folded them and sat them back on the beds and left everything as we found it the best we could!! the maid should not have had to do much laundry etc all dishes were cleaned and put away too! we try to be aware of things like that and NOT leave messes for others! thanks again I am so in love with this island, I dream about it!!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We are glad you liked staying with us and will be looking forward to your coming back again and again!
We try to keep our rates reasonable, of not low compared to many other properties in the area. Please take into account that each of our two units is 1300 square feet of usable living space, has large porch, a balcony, walk in closets, separate laundry room, spacious living room, sleeps comfortably 6 people and located just 400 feet from the beach and about 200 feet from the bay (hence the name "Beach and Bay Retreat" :-)). We always encourage our renters to forward to us comparable offers they may receive from other owners in the area, so that we could match or beat their prices.
As for the later check outs, we do offer them to our tenants who request them a few days in advance. In your case for example, you could have stayed at least a couple of hours longer on your departure day, as we did not have new guests arriving until late that night, so we could schedule with the cleaners to to their work later. We just need to know a couple of days in advance so that we would schedule with the cleaners and the maintenance.
The conversation you overheard was not about neighbors spying on our guests or anything of the sorts. I told your friend a story that once we rented one of the units to a person who was constantly washing his and some other cars, so that his neighbors from the other unit were never able to use the beach shower when returning from the beach, because the water was used for washing those cars. They most certainly informed us about that issue.
Also, as you have noticed, the house is located in the residential part of Bradenton Beach, and many local people live there with their families, and they do like to have quiet time after coming back home after a day at work. Therefore, we sometimes hear from our neighbors if our tenants appear to be causing annoyance. It is similar to if you were staying in a hotel and another guest would cause annoyance, you would probably report that to the management. We have great neighbors there, and our tenants complimented us many times about how warm and welcoming everybody is at that neighborhood.
We are two retired couples in our 60's who really enjoyed our month-long stay in the top unit in March 2014. We loved Anna Maria Island. This house is in a great location - - a very short walk to the beach and only a block from a trolley stop (there is a free trolley that runs the entire length of the island, we LOVED that!). It was relatively cool for the entire month (in the 70's) so we were able to leave the sliding doors open in the bedroom (although it would have been nicer if there were screens in those doors) and left the front doors open, there was a calm breeze blowing through the unit all day long! The living room is HUGE, with 3 sofas but the large porch that overlooked the bay was the best part. It faces west, overlooking the bay and since this house is next to a trailer park, the view to the bay is not obstructed. We saw lots of crazy looking big white birds and even a flock of wild green parrots! We were a little disappointed that we really couldnt fish in the bay at the end of our street, it was too rocky. But we had fun fishing in the gulf off of the beach, caught lots of different types of fish! And the porch....a little piece of heaven... that porch was soooooo relaxing. We spent hours out there just sitting and chatting and reading and watching. It is a very quiet area except for occassional construction noise because of some new homes that were being built down the street... but that was on the east side so we really couldnt hear that from the porch. The people on the island were very friendly, there were some good happy hours, there is a grocery store and drug store only about 1 mile from us (used the trolley if we weren't buying much), and there is a "downtown" area a few miles north (near Anna Maria Pier, don't miss that!) and another one a short drive south. At the south end of the island was a market every weekend during March which we really enjoyed. There is a park on the south end of thisland which we hiked... fishing from the beach... the bike riding was a bit limited since we were not comfortable riding on the main drag. We loved our stay and the owner was extremely accommodating and friendly. The few issues we had (i.e. the remote control for the tv was missing) were quickly resolved. Loved the covered parking and the locked garage where we could keep our beach and fishing and biking equipment. This is a great place to stay! Both units are only accessible via steps so keep that in mind if you have issues getting around.

This beach home was perfect for our family of 5. The beach is really close and not very crowded at all. The house was clean and had all the things that a "home" away needs. Oh and there were lots of sand toys.. which our kids loved. They are 9, 4, and 3. Fabulous little place. Loved it. The kiddos can't wait to go back to our new "beach house". It was great experience. We made lots of fantastic memories! We are excited to go back.
My husband and I spent three nights in this lovely home, enjoying the proximity to both the bay and the gulf. Though it is a bit of a walk (or drive) to most of the restaurants and to 'downtown' Bradenton Beach (a bit over a mile), the walk is pleasant and the beach right by the house is just as good as the beaches anywhere on the island. Parents of young kids will also appreciate the playground on the bay side of the house, just a one minute walk away! My only gripe would be that the bed in the master bedroom seemed to me to be a double bed rather than a queen-sized bed. Perhaps I'm so spoiled by my king bed at home, though, that I'm judging incorrectly.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review and your comments. Those are very important and valuable to us. We do strive to make our guests comfortable and always listen very attentively to comments like "the mattress feels smaller", which simply may mean it is time to replace it with the new one. We were planning to replace mattresses and upgrade our beds and will definitely do so shortly.
You are right that major shopping and more popular places on the island are under a mile away (except that we have 24/7 Circle K convenience store just around the corner!). However, we see this as a great advantage for most of out tenants who appreciated being able to live quietly and comfortably away from major crowds. Our beach is indeed as good as in any other place on the island. However, do not forget that its quietness means you will enjoy the nature more. You just need to listen and look closely to see more birds in higher variety, better chance of seeing sea critters, for example loggerhead turtles crawling out to lay their eggs at night, or their hatchlings crawling out of the nests back to the Gulf... It feels like having a lot more beach and nature to yourself around our area.
Best of both worlds – the Bay and the Beach of the Gulf of Mexico! The house is situated in the middle of a narrower part of Anna Maria Island on the boundary of the cities of Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach. From the house’s porches and balconies, guests can see Sarasota Bay to the East and the Gulf of Mexico to the West. It's close to water on both sides with constant ocean breezes, magnificent Bay sunrises and Gulf sunsets.
The climate is temperate with very few cold days even in the dead of winter. A beautiful, non-crowded white-sand beach is just steps away. The warm waters and gentle surf of the Gulf are perfect for wading or swimming. On your way to the beach you will pass convenience store that is open 24/7 to pick up your favorite drink or ice cream, as well as some supplies.
There are usually fewer people on this stretch of the beach than elsewhere on Anna Maria. Maybe this is the reason why sea turtles prefer to lay eggs in our dunes and birds choose to nest on our beach. If you are lucky, you will catch young turtle hatchlings run to the ocean after digging themselves out of the sparkling white sand one warm summer evening. This is also a paradise for bird watchers: squadrons of pelicans and frigates flying by, colonies of several species of seagulls and shorebirds fishing and foraging in the surf.
In the water, beach goers can observe groups of skates and other fish, as well as occasional manatee, and of course dolphins. Shell collectors will be surprised to find many species of beautiful unbroken shells in the sand. Some find fossilized shark teeth.
The house is located midway between two drawbridges linking the island to the City of Bradenton on the mainland. Gulf Drive, a heritage trail, continues to the south through Longboat Key to St. Armand's circle where there is a third bridge to the mainland at Sarasota.
A large supermarket and grocery store, hardware store, drugstores, restaurants and pubs are within easy walking distance, or a quick ride on a free Island Trolley away, in bordering city of Holmes Beach.
The bustling center of Bradenton Beach is 1.5 miles south at Bridge Street with its marina, boardwalk, historic pier, shops and fine restaurants. Just to the south of Bradenton Beach across a drawbridge is the upscale community of Longboat Key, with its ocean-front mansions and high rise condominiums, followed by trendy shops of nearby St. Armand's circle.
Many famous Florida attractions are within easy driving distance: Sarasota - 35 min, Tampa - 1hr, Disneyworld - 2.5hr, Bradenton - 10 min, Longboat Key - 5 min.
Recently Manatee County introduced a free Trolley Service, which runs about every 20 minutes. These pleasant old-style vehicles, which are open in the back, travel between Coquina Beach to the South and the Village of Anna Maria to the North. They are very convenient for shopping and eating out, so you would not need to drive around the island. There are many stops along the way including ones near the house.
