This loft is one of only 5 units in the building, offering a high level of privacy to guests who prefer discretion and are seeking a more intimate NYC experience. Located in the heart of Tribeca and steps away from numerous subway lines, the Alexandra Loft is mere minutes by foot from Soho, Chinatown and Nolita. The perfect setting for a dream vacation for a couple or small family.
I was originally born in Germany and moved to the US as a child. I make my living as an entrepreneur, industrialist and musician--which allows for an interesting, but also complicated, lifestyle. I am fortunate to have traveled the world extensively, and the Alexandra Loft is filled with art and antiques that were acquired throughout the world, including Germany, China, Hong Kong, France, Italy, Columbia, Poland and Mexico.
Owner / Property Manager purchased this condo in 1997
While apartment hunting, I was struck by the architectural beauty of White Street and love living in Tribeca. The building that the loft is located in was originally a relay switch factory, and it was completely raw when I bought it. While it was a huge project to renovate the place, it was also one of the most satisfying things I've done, as it allowed me a chance to furnish it at my own place and pick out things for it during my travels. Fireplace and furniture from flea markets in Paris, artwork from galleries in a host of different cities, bedding from linen factories in Italy, etc. A great way to see the world!
The location of the Alexandra Loft is truly fantastic. It's just a few blocks from numerous great neighborhoods, yet is also relatively quiet by NYC standards. And the restaurants in the neighborhood are among the best in the world.
The apartment was gorgeous. The neighborhood and restaurants were superb. Soho is 5 minutes away. We shopped and had fabulous meals. We highly recommend the property an have already booked our next stay.?
We really loved this loft. It's private and quiet, filled with beautiful furniture and fantastic art--it has kind of a European feel, but in a New York kind of way. Very cool place. The ad describes it as a place where a "movie star" would stay, and it kind of is. They've apparently had some pretty high profile people there. The master bedroom was super-comfortable and quiet. The guest bedroom had a futon, but our friends slept really well on it. The loft has two private bathrooms, which made it easy for 4 people to get out the door quickly. The location is great because there were many subway lines one or two blocks away--we learned the hard way that getting a taxi at rush hour is NOT easy!! The kitchen was very nice, but we barely used it--there were so many great restaurants nearby that we wanted to try. The owners recommended Pepolino, which is some of the best Italian food we've had in quite awhile. Not cheap per se, but worth it. We were two couples, and had plenty of privacy. It's a comfortable, beautiful home--we would definitely stay here again.
Tribeca is one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in New York City, combining acclaimed restaurants and bars with interesting shopping, cafes and art galleries--all within the most famous loft neighborhood in America. With superb connections to subways, the loft is conveniently located within easy walking distance of Soho, Greenwhich Village, Little Italy, Chinatown, Chinatown and the Hudson River.
