Sonoma House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms & 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps up to 6 ADULTS

Ditch your car keys and discover Real Wine Country on foot or bicycle from our 1889 CHARMING, recently renovated, Victorian Cottage, just 2 SHORT blocks from Sonoma’s Historical Plaza District. As your wine vacation destination, we offer a spacious, historic, & tastefully decorated, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home that can accommodate up to 6 adults comfortably. With unmatched charm, personality and modern renovated uniqueness, our home will embrace you with comfort and convenience during your stay. All rooms are bright & colorful--each boasting its own Sonoma contemporary style.

Wine Country doesn’t get more real than Sonoma Valley, the birthplace of California’s wine industry. The 8-acre Plaza is a National Historic Landmark, strewn with sprawling shade trees, sunlit courtyards, and carefully preserved adobe buildings--all next door. There are endless tasting rooms, restaurants, cafes, boutiques, galleries, and even a vintage movie house. We offer an ideal base from which to explore not only the Plaza area, but Sonoma Valley, neighboring wine regions (Glen Ellen & Kenwood), the Sonoma Coast, and the S.F. Bay Area at large.

We are also owner-operated, eliminating the need to go through a 3rd party management company. We offer very personal, responsive service to all our guests! Let us help you plan your stay.

Also, please check out our other Sonoma vacation home (Homeaway #3005564), Deer Park Retreat, located less than 10 minutes from the Plaza, right on Sonoma Mountain. Deer Park Retreat offers complete privacy in a mountain setting, & is a spectacular property, very close to Glen Ellen and Kenwood.

About Kathy and David

Being native to the Bay Area (and fellow wine lovers), we have been traveling to Sonoma County for many years, using VRBO & Homeaway, encountering some great experiences. It has been a long process, but we finally were able to purchase our first vacation home on Sonoma Mountain, Western Sonoma in 2012. Because we fell in love with Sonoma (again), we also wanted a 'city' property close to Plaza. Better yet, one with history, dating back to all that was happening in Sonoma in the late 19th Century. Now, we want to share it with other travelers seeking all that this area has offer, and hope that you will love it too!

Kathy and David purchased this house in 2013

Why Kathy and David chose Sonoma

What is not to love about Sonoma, especially right near the Plaza? There are unending things to do and see--wine tasting, eating experiences, historical site-seeing, outdoor adventure and shopping!

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had a great time! The house was perfect for us – well located and perfectly sized. The beds were comfy, the furnishings were just to our taste and the location was great – considering we like to walk to dinner where we live in Chicago, we felt very much at home walking to restaurants and Whole Paycheck nearby. I really enjoyed your renovation! I am a landlord – I buy old apartment buildings and renovate and update them for a living (then deal with tenants all the time). I am always knee deep in decisions about trim, tile, cabinets, light fixtures – etc – so it was great fun to enjoy your choices. Checking out your wainscoting in the bathrooms was fun as were the tile borders – all very clever and ‘period correct’ for the house style.

Thanks again for the opportunity to enjoy some California sunshine – yes, it was hot, we survived. Thank heavens, there isn’t much humidity!"

BEST RENTAL NEAR THE PLAZA HANDS DOWN!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 4th year of coming to Sonoma, near the Plaza. Without hesitation, I need to say that this property’s charm and décor outmatches the other homes that we have rented within walking distance to the Plaza. I understand it’s fairly new on the rental market, and our experience couldn’t have been more pleasant and enjoyable! The décor was very updated, as was the furniture and general character of the home—very Pottery Barn a la Sonoma! Within a block, there’s Whole Foods, Sonoma Market, a Cycle Shop, and Safeway (just to name a few spots). There’s even a Yoga studio (Community Yoga) on 5th, just a short walk. And that’s not even mentioning the Plaza—so many shops, wine tasting rooms and eateries—we especially liked Harvest Moon and Girl and the Fig (outside patio a must!). Anyway, we felt very comfortable and renting the property was very easy—they even have a keyless (wireless) entry system, providing a code that we choose for gaining access. Both Kathy and Allison were awesome to deal with, and we got our deposit returned very quickly. Can’t say enough about how wonderful a little vacation we had at the Vintage Cottage!

A true gem in the heart of Sonoma, CA

  • 5 of 5

Me and 3 of my bridesmaids stayed at this darling cottage and our stay was more than perfect. The decor, location, welcome gifts, and backyard were all icing on the cake for this special time in my life. A Whole Foods and the Sonoma Market Place and shopping center were just a minute or two away. The plaza was the same and the girls and I walked everywhere. I can't begin to explain how perfect this location is. The beds were so comfortable, and I am personally very picky about beds and a light sleeper. Needless to say a slept like a princess. The back patio was charming and perfect for morning coffee and dinning outside. My experience with the owners Kathy & David was above and beyond exceptional. Kathy helped me map out some great shopping and food spots. She was always timely in her responses and happy to help. I even left my sunglasses there and she made sure they made it back to me. I'm planning on bringing my soon to be husband back next year and will stay here agian. They truly have a gem in Sonoma and there isn't one thing I would change!

Perfect for a girls weekend in heaven!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful property and great location. My friends and I spent a beautiful long weekend in the Sonoma Vintage Cottage. It was an adorable, clean, charming place for the five of us to stay. Location cannot be beat, we walked to everything downtown Sonoma had to offer. The owners were great with communication and wanted to make sure we had everything we wanted or needed during our stay. Will definitely be back. Thank You!

Great for a weekend gals getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Spent a few nights in this beautiful cottage in January with my mom and 4 sisters. It was a perfect home base for a relaxed weekend. Quick walk to wonderful shops and restaurants, and an easy drive to more wine than you could ever hope to taste in Sonoma and Napa! Kathy was a great host--very responsive and gave some wonderful recommendations. The house itself was immaculate, cozy, and well-equipped. So glad we landed here for our first wine country trip!

perfect house for us!

  • 5 of 5

We were thrilled with this charming house within easy walking distance of Sonoma Square. We have rented many vacation homes through VRBO and this is, by far, the cleanest and coziest. The kitchen is well stocked with quality items making cooking an evening meal a pleasure. We will definitely return! The owners and house manager were prompt and courteous.

Charming cottage in an awesome location !

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is just perfection inside and out : its in a perfect location, so close to Sonoma downtown. The home transport you to a French countryside cottage with tastefully done interiors. Our stay was extremely comfortable. The house manager and owners were very quick to respond to all our minor questions during the stay. We definitely look forward to staying here the next time we visit Sonoma.
