The “Cygnet Cottage” began as a stable in the 1890s and has been lovingly owned and updated by just two families since. Today it boasts a spacious main house and guesthouse with beautiful hardwood floors throughout, country and antique furnishings, and a state-of-the-art kitchen. Located on a protected cove of beautiful Lake Monomonack, the Cygnet Cottage offers peace and privacy plus endless opportunities for entertainment and relaxation.
The rental, which includes both the main house and guesthouse, is perfect for up to four families. The five bedrooms and four full baths offer comfort and privacy, while the large living areas and kitchen are perfect for entertaining large groups.
The main house has two large bedrooms upstairs, one with a king bed and one with a queen. Each has its own full bath. The guesthouse has two large bedrooms with queen beds, a smaller bedroom with two single beds, and two full bathrooms. There are also two very comfortable foldout beds that can be set up as needed in either house. Every bedroom has sweeping lake views!
The rental includes everything needed to make your stay comfortable and easy: high-speed wireless internet, fresh bath towels and sheets, beach towels, silverware and glassware, cooking implements and serving pieces, a gas grill, and washer and dryer. Also included are a ping-pong table, flat-screen TV set and DVD player, Apple TV with Netflix subscription, stereo with iPod hookup, fishing rods and equipment, board games and books galore for kids and adults. Both houses have central air conditioning, though due to the mild climate, you most likely won't need it.
The lake is steps from the house. There is a sandy beach area along shore, a 30 foot wooden dock, and a wooden swim float 100 feet offshore. There are two kayaks, two canoes, a pedal boat, a row boat, and an inflatable zodiac boat. Life jackets, paddles and all other necessary boating equipment are also provided. You can stay in the cove or head out to explore the 700-acre main lake. Native to the lake are loons, mallard ducks, beavers, painted turtles, bullfrogs, bluegills, perch, pickerel, bass and a great blue heron that frequently buzzes the house.
Feel free to email with any questions; the Cygnet Cottage is a wonderful place to vacation!
I grew up in New England, live in California, and enjoying coming back to New Hampshire as frequently as I can. There is nothing like the four wonderful seasons of New England!

Why David Lagakos chose Rindge
The Cygnet cottage has been in my family as long as I can remember, and we love spending as much time as we can there.
What makes this cottage unique
The Cygnet cottage is nestled in the woods right on a lake, and offers ample opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. At the same time it has all the comforts of home, and the space to enjoy the company of many friends and family. It is also conveniently located at under 2 hours to Boston and roughly 4 hours to New York City.
I recently stayed at this lake house house rental and loved it. The owner was very accomodating and the house was exactly what I hoped for. The home was well kept and offered space for our group of seven adults and three children, with room to spare. The property is gorgeous and the seemingly endless number of windows provide some beautiful views of the water and surrounding trees from every room. Everyone raved about the place and I would recommend staying there to anyone. We would certainlly come back.
We loved our stay at this wonderful, spacious cottage and guesthouse. The property is gorgeous - lake views from every window in both houses, a private beach and dock, a float and many boats, kayaks and even a paddle boat at the dock. The owner made our stay very special by providing everything we needed - lovely and modern kitchen filled with many dishes, lots of utensils and cooking ware, even his favorite spices! The bedrooms were lovely and roomy and the owner provided quality sheets for all the beds - sleeps 12. He also provided quality towels for the spacious and modern bathrooms - all four of them and beach towels for everyone. We had family and many friends visit us and all felt their stay was like being in paradise - wonderful sunrises, quiet evenings, lovely views, gorgeous home with a huge deck, sandy beach and lovely additions in terms of furniture, décor and space. It is obvious that the owner takes great pride in giving all guests a quality stay - we were greeted with such warmth and presented with a bottle olive oil and some fresh vegetables from a local farm. In addition, the area provides wonderful hiking trails, great farm stands, convenient grocery stores, wonderful ice cream from Kimball Farms and the lovely Peterborough is only a short drive away. We climbed six different hiking trails and visited the lovely Cathedral in the Pines - be sure to watch the video before your explore this lovely and peaceful site. After each adventure we returned to our wonderful paradise home, sat on the deck, had great meals, played ping pong in a great activity room and settled into one of the most gorgeous and well-cared-for rentals we have ever had. We wanted to return next August but it is already rented so we are returning in August 2016. We cannot wait since this house is so special and fun and so well equipped, designed with care and thoughtfully maintained by the owner. It is obvious that the owner loves the house and wants his rental to be appreciated and loved. We cannot wait to return.
Upon our arrival we were very pleased to see that the "cottage" had all of the room that our family could possibly need. From the spacious front deck to the white sandy beach; which our grand daughter loved we realized that we were in the right place for a proper vacation. Both the main house and the guest house were roomy, clean and had all the comforts of home. Both were very well maintained and if we needed help (which we didn't); it was never more than a phone call away. David was a wonderful host and made us feel like family. The location was ideal with no major boat traffic so the kids were always safe in the water. We also had plenty of parking and were able to bring our dogs. The "cottage" was definitely pet friendly. We were able to climb Mt. Monadnock, visit Boston, see the Red Sox play the Yankees, pay a visit to Cathedral of the Pines, visit JP Stephens for bisque and generally have a great time! All while feeling like we were at home. We were even able to surprise my mother on her 76th birthday! We had plenty of room for a day visit by family to help us celebrate. The water craft that was available; canoe, paddle boats, kayaks were perfect for our lake area. All of our kids enjoyed them greatly! Including Harper who is just about to turn 2. For those of you who golf; we would recommend Shattick over near Mt. Monadnock. But please be sure to bring lots of golf balls. We would highly recommend spending some vacation time here; it is a beautiful setting with great living arrangements for a large family. We do hope to return in the very near future! It is well worth it.
