SUNLIT SPACIOUS HOME, WALK TO BEACH OR ENJOY MARSH VIEW & BIRDS ON PRIVATE DECK

Eastham House Rental Photos and Description

3 BR, 2 BA, Accomodates 6 plus bonus space **ONLY 1 SUMMER WEEK LEFT**

Come stay in our spacious, bright and airy home! Cathedral ceilings and multiple operational skylights that can be easily adjusted at the touch of a switch allow you to enjoy just as much of Cape Cod's beautiful light and ocean breezes as suits your mood at the moment. The layout of the house allows for both privacy and comfortable gatherings as desired. On the first floor the open design of the living room, dining area and kitchen create a large and generous space for coming together, supplemented by the expansive first floor deck and the comfortable family room on the lower level. At the same time, our 4 comfortable sleeping areas are laid out in such a way that guests can easily spread out and enjoy a real feeling of privacy in their own spaces when desired. This home is a duplex, sharing an oversized lot and a single wall with the neighboring home, but because of the space and layout of the property there is a sense of complete privacy both inside and out.

Each sleeping area provides its own special advantages - the largest bedroom, located at the top of the stairs to the second floor, is a floor-through room offering marsh and sky views from windows on both sides as well as a TV and DVD, and allowing enough room to comfortably hold a small couch in addition to the king-sized bed and other furnishings; the other second floor bedroom holds a queen-sized bed and offers access to a small private balcony/deck overlooking the back yard and adjoining marsh and furnished with a bistro table and two chairs; the first floor bedroom houses two twin beds, looks out across the main deck and into the back yard, and features its own access to the first floor bathroom; and the reading room, located on the lower level, has a day bed with a trundle underneath, a configuration that can be used as two twin beds or converted into a king bed using a 'Kingmaker' stored in the closet, and includes a large sitting area and easy access to back yard through the slider in the adjoining family room. There is ample closet and dresser space in each room.

The spacious family room itself holds a large flat-screen TV and a broad selection of games. There is a wide variety of seating options for guests wishing to relax in this area, plus a small desk/work space and additional sleeping accommodations in the form of a futon couch which opens into another full-sized bed.

The main deck is located on the first floor and accessed through sliders from the living room. This deck spans the width of the house and looks out across the large back yard and into the adjoining marsh brush. Great bird watching opportunities from here! The deck holds a new Weber gas grill and comfortable seating for up to 10 guests, as well as a dining table with umbrella.

We're in an ideal location - .3 miles from Boat Meadow Beach on the bay side, one of the most beautiful beaches in Eastham; .7 miles from entry onto the Cape Cod Rail Trail (22 miles of paved off-street riding through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet with many opportunities to get off the trail to visit a beach or a town to browse or shop or find food, water and public restrooms); only 1.5 to 2 miles from Rock Harbor and the center of Orleans; and 4.7 miles from Nauset Beach on the ocean side in one direction and from the beautiful trails and fresh-water ponds of Nickerson State Park in another. Cape Cod is the second most visited golf destination in the United States and we're located only 6.5 miles from the Cape's premier public golf facility - The Captains Golf Course. Beyond the attractions of our immediate surroundings, our position at the southern-most edge of Eastham puts us only slightly past the midpoint of the Cape and about 25 miles from Provincetown, giving us reasonably easy access to just about any part of Cape Cod.

This home is bright and cheerful even on the greyest day! Every room is generously proportioned and the cathedral ceiling in the main living area gives a great feeling of openness and room to breath. I feel like I straighten up and stand taller whenever I'm in that space. I also love looking down on the living room from the second floor 'loft' or walkway. The marsh and sky views from the back deck, and the sense of quiet, broken only by the birds, can take my breath away. And then, of course, in case all that isn't enough, there's the quiet beauty of Boat Meadow Beach just a short walk down the road. Amazing sunsets over the bay every evening!

PERFECT LOCATION IN EASTHAM

 • 5 of 5
Our trip back to the Cape has restarted a family summer tradition from 15 years ago when we used to go every year. Now, there are six of us and we needed a bigger place. This house is actually half of a duplex, but we never heard a peep from the owner next door and it "lives like a house". We used the house as a base to explore the Cape from Hyannis to Provincetown. It was clean, well stocked, comfy, and met all of our family's needs. We walked down to the beach, joined the rail trail in Orleans for the kids to skateboard while my wife and I sported rollerblades (at age 50). We visited P-Town twice, ate 5 dozen oysters among us and many scallop or lobster rolls. We made Smores in the fireplace twice and loved sipping coffee out on the deck. If the local restaurants weren't so great (read "Arnold's where we went twice), I would have used the grill. We loved Eastham and Orleans so much, we are looking for property there ourselves. Nickerson State Park is minutes away and we spent a day there swimming and hiking around Big Cliff Pond (for $5, a Cape bargain). We walked the trails at the Salt Pond all the way out to Coast Guard Beach and also spent half a day at Nauset Beach. In the short run, we would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. The owner was very helpful in all emails and referred me to a broker to find our own piece of the Cape. With the quiet location, a beach within walking distance, proximity to shopping in Orleans, big deck with a grill and hammock, wifi, and easy rail trail access, this place is just perfect. I recommend a day in Provincetown (<25 minutes away) for shopping, a whale watch, then dinner at "The Lobster Pot."

EXCELLENT AND JUST AS ADVERTISED

 • 5 of 5
This house was perfect for a weekend getaway. We found the accommodations to be just as described and pictured. It was peaceful, very clean, well decorated and relaxing. The only thing we thought would be helpful is for the bedrooms to have darkening shades because the sun waking all of us at 4:30 was a little early :-). However, overall, this was as said a perfect place for a getaway to the Cape with easy access to any place you wanted to go!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and we really appreciate your feedback about the darkening shades. We have various shades in all the windows but I guess they may not always block out that morning sun as completely as some might wish. We try to follow up on everyone's suggestions if we can, to make our house as comfortable as possible for our guests (and ourselves, lol), so we may well have darkening shades in place by the time you're ready to come back for another weekend getaway :-) - Dorian

BRIGHT, BEAUTIFUL, WELL-APPOINTED HOME

 • 5 of 5
Pictures don't do it justice. The house is spotless, well -appointed and organized. Very open and full of light, but also really cozy. Close to 2 lovely beaches. Also close to P-town w/major attractions such as whale watching. Seal watching is also a local attraction. The decks were delightful. Good shopping- essentials and gifts - in area and close-by towns.
Reasonably-priced restaurants are close by.

AWESOME STAY

 • 5 of 5
We loved our stay! The home was spacious, quiet, has a great layout. We were concerned about the rental being a duplex but when we were there we did not even notice. Even sitting out on the deck was private. Loved the marsh views from the decks, great place to sit and read a book. Short walk to Boat Meadow Beach. Convenient to shopping in Orleans.

LOVE THIS PLACE - IT'S PERFECT!

Love this place - it's perfect!
 • 5 of 5
We loved our stay! There was plenty of space for everyone, and every room was charming and gracious. There are lots of cozy and cheerful spots all over the house to hang out in, the kitchen is easy to use and had everything we needed. Love the big fireplace, the decks and all the birds out back. We are new to this part of the Cape so it was great to discover the beauty of the bay side and all the little coffee shops and bars in Orleans. Loved in particular a vintage store called Local Color, a diner/bakery called Hole in One, and a super cool import shop called Yak Arts. Oh and also, there's a beautiful bay about a five minute walk from the house, and it's only a 5-minute drive to the ocean beach. It's close to everything! BTW the photos don't over flatter the place - the real thing is just as beautiful. Can't recommend this house enough.

FABULOUS HOUSE, FABULOUS LOCATION!

 • 5 of 5
I led two 5 day workshops in 2013 with several artists each time. When we arrived at the house we got settled and immediately went out to paint. The location of the house allowed us to get in more painting time because we were so close to so many great sites.
We were all very comfortable in the house. The property is well maintained and very clean! The amenities provided satisfied all our needs. Even though there were several people in the house we had plenty of room for privacy, when we wanted it.
The kitchen and living room provided spacious gathering places for us when we needed to be together, as a group.
The tasteful decor only enhanced the feeling of comfort we had in the house.
I always had good communication with the owner and I would recommend anyone to stay at this property.
We loved eating out as well as cooking meals in the kitchen.
Some of our favorite restaurants were: Mac's Shack, the Bookstore, Land Ho and Arnold's.
Anyone would love to visit the Audobon, Fort Hill and Provincelands...we painted in all those areas.
We are already looking forward to our visits this year!

Beyond the attractions of our immediate surroundings, our position at the southern-most edge of Eastham puts us only slightly past the midpoint of the Cape and about 25 miles from Provincetown, giving us reasonably easy access to just about any part of Cape Cod. There are many things to do on Cape Cod, among them swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and sailing in ocean, bay, and freshwater settings (equipment rental available from Goose Hummock in nearby Orleans, among other places); deep sea fishing and whale- or seal-watching excursions are plentifully available; and the National Seashore Visitors' Center offers films, nature talks and walks, a gift shop, beaches, and bike trails. Specialized child-oriented activities such as mini golf, museums, playhouses, go-karts, batting cages, trampolines, and arcades are plentiful throughout the Cape and many can be reached with a short 5 to 15 minute drive. There are a bounty of opportunities for enjoying the visual and performing arts at myriad small art galleries and theaters scattered all across the Cape, including such places as the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, the oldest summer theater in the United States, and the Melody Tent in Hyannis with many wonderful shows presented nightly by well known celebrities, as well as at several larger art centers offering ongoing art exhibits, theater and music productions, such as the Cotuit Cultural Center for the Arts in Cotuit and the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in South Yarmouth. Antiquing on Cape Cod is also great fun with unusual shops to be found in just about every town. Supplement your stay with visits to Provincetown with its unique boutiques, scenic trips and fabulous 8 mile bike trail by the beach and through the woods; Eastham with its working windmill and grist mill; Sandwich with the Heritage Plantation, Sandwich Glass Museum, scenic harbor, Hoxie House (oldest house on Cape Cod), working grist mill, boardwalk to the beaches, and Christopher Wren church; Falmouth with its wonderful bike trail along the beach and Falmouth Summer Theater; the Cape Cod Canal Bikeway riding between the Bourne and Sagamore Bridges; and Boston is only 1.5 hours away with its Historic Trail which makes history live! And don't miss the beautiful historic drive following Cape Cod Bay along the north shore through Barnstable, Brewster, and Sandwich. Hyannis has lovely stores and the JFK Museum in the center of town and the fireworks over the harbor on the 4th of the July are magnificent and trips to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard leave both from Hyannis and Wood's Hole.
