About Dana Reeve

My husband and I purchased 3 lake lots on beautiful Lake Wedowee in 1995. We built the house in '97 using a modified Southern Living house plan, 'Nautical Cottage'. We both have large extended families and we wanted a place that would accommodate a crowd. We now co-own the house/lots with another family and have 6 children between us ranging in ages 25-17 yrs. .We have been vacationing here for years , enjoying the house all year long - as fun as it is during the summer months its a great get away during the 'off season', as well as in the quiet months of the winter. Did I mention the many Thanksgivings we have celebrated here!) As much as we love lake living, we found that activities kept us from using the home as much as we wanted. By renting the house, our guests can enjoy the lake as much as we do

Dana Reeve purchased this house in 1997

Why Dana Reeve chose Wedowee

Lake Wedowee is located in the southern foothills of the Apppalachian mountain chain. It is rated as one of the cleanest lakes in Alabama. With over 270 miles of shoreline, Lake Wedowee offers an abundance of outdoor activities. Our family loves the water and my husband is an avid fisherman. it is a great place to wet a line for crappie, bass, brim or catfish

What makes this house unique

FAVORITE THINGS TO DO AT LAKE WEDOWEE...meeting the morning with coffee on the porch...watching my husband trolling thru the water fishing @ sun-up...a trail run along the quiet paths in our neighborhood -ending with a jump into the lake...a group of children catching fish off the dock...the smell of breakfast...'noodling'off our dock all afternoon... seeing the dogs enjoy the lake experience...a group swim across the cove to jump off Mr. Warren's double decker dock...a nap in the hammock listening to water lapping against the shore line...exploring quiet coves in the kayak...open water swim to the end of our cove...watching little ones play boating games in their private shallow swimming area btw the docks...reading/napping on the covered porch listening to the hum of the fan...family games during a rain storm under the shelter of the screened porch...friends driving by on theirs boats and stopping to sit a spell and visit...finding the best rope swing on the lake... too many cooks in the kitchen or at the grill preparing a meal with good drinks and great music... ALL sitting down to share a meal in the great outdoors...family dance parties...trips to the Marina for bait and treats...Worship on the Water at Lakeside..Not missing church by having our own Sunday School lesson on the deck with listeners completely attentive so they will be chosen first to TUBE ...fireworks from the dock...picking blueberries outside my kitchen window in July...watching the sunset flying squirrel show... candlelight and conversation...a full moon illuminating the inside of the house...enjoying a break from our hectic life with family and friends, surrounded by God's perfect natural world... falling into bed exhausted..AND...waking up the next day TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN...INFINITE JOY!!

Amazing Stay, Once Again!

  • 5 of 5

This is the 2nd year in a row that we have rented this property. We have had an amazing stay both times. Family comes in from around the world, and everyone is in love with the property immediately. Plenty of mingle and gathering space, as well as excellent sleeping arrangements. Every year we want more and more to purchase one ourselves. Owner is extremely friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone looking for an amazing waterfront property with tons of space and incredibly peaceful atmosphere. Will be returning.

Best Lake House Ever!!

  • 5 of 5

This was such a wonderful rental. To be honest, I was a little worried because I hadn't seen the place yet, but when I stepped in the door, saw the wrap-around porch and the dense wooded lot it was love at first sight.

We've rented several lake houses before (usually every summer for our group of friends) but this by far was the best I've seen. A bathroom at every level, plenty of sleep space (no one had to sleep on the floor!) air conditioning worked great (which you don't know you need until you have a large group and its HOT outside) BEAUTIFUL view and a large open kitchen with a enough seating we could all be together.

There was also the lake (which it rained, so we didn't get in as much as we wanted) and OMG was it clean! We usually rent around Lake Martin, but its got nothing on Lake Wedowee. The land was beautiful and the wooded lots next to us gave enough privacy we could not ask for better.

The porch was probably my favorite, as well as the large windows. All the seating outside was comfy and there were plenty of table to eat on, play games or what have you.

Everyone kept saying it was the best place I've found by far.

Ms. Dana was very helpful, she sent me packets of info about the lake, where to buy supplies and what to do and who to watch out for. She would also email me back immediately when I had one or two questions (Like, where's the remote? or whats the wifi pass-code?) and everything was laid out really nice. They also took care of the cleaning and the trash pick-up which was also great. It's pretty annoying when you have to drive two hours with your car loaded down with trash bags.

My only regret is that it rained and we didn't get to take full advantage of the wonderful lake and the docks. And there were also boats!

I could not recommend this place enough. I know I want to come back!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in this home was fantastic! We had several family members stay with us and all really enjoyed it. The location is great in a quiet cove and the kids had a blast fishing, swimming and the use of the kayaks and canoe! Perfect place for a big family gathering! Thanks again!

Perfect Family Getaway House

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed this beautiful and accommodating house on lake Wedowee. With a large family visiting for an annual long weekend together, we could not have found a better place to get together. Perfectly situated for both boat and auto, we were able to access Wedowee within 10 minutes for groceries and ice cream while boating only 10 minutes to the marina for gas and supplies. We were so happy with the house that we rebooked for next year already!!!

Great weekend at the lake

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the lake house and boating on the lake. The house was very clean and had everything we needed.

Husband had refinished his childhood 1969 Boston Whaler and got to zip it around lake and pull the kids on skis and knee boards.

Great memories!
