This vacation property has a beautiful patio with a fireplace and a hot tub which provide a wonderful night-time place to relax. This cottage was a speakeasy in the 1920s, so it has plenty of charm, but it was fully renovated in 2009. One bedroom with a queen sized bed, the second bedroom has a full-size bed. The maximum occupancy is 4. Washing machine and dishwasher included.
This cottage was amazing. We stayed here for a long weekend, and I was sorry to go. The owner has put a lot of work into this cottage and it shows. From the interior decorating to the amenities provided, everything was great. Thank you for a great stay. We enjoyed our time there. I hope to visit again!
Perfect retreat from New York City for me, my husband and our cat. Charming, historic exterior with a clean, modern interior. Beds were comfortable and the shower pressure was good (both are deal breakers when it comes to a nice rental). We loved spending time in the kitchen and on the porch. Great location surrounded by trees, but very close to Ithaca. Elena was excellent with communication and is very open to suggestions. We did not get a chance to use the outdoor features or go to the lake, but plan to when we return this fall.
- great location for the price - owner is very responsive to email questions. allowed us to check out late to accommodate our young kids. - loved that the linens are included in this rental. less stuff to pack, saves tons of room in the car. - house was clean. But remember this is a lake house, so a couple spiders or bugs are to be expected. - there is no air conditioning , but we were fine during our August visit. - the walk down to the lake isn't ideal for toddlers, but my husband and dog loved it. We accessed the lake from several other parks for swimming instead.
This house was just O.K. - Sleeping 4 was tight. The porch was cute but had no comfortable furniture to sit on - only a table and straight wooden chairs. The living room was tiny with very dated old furniture. Kitchen was cute but very minimally equipped - missing items needed for cooking such as oven mitts, measuring cups, wine glasses, etc. There was a very strong musty odor from the basement when you needed to use the back door (the laundry was down there which we didn't use). The outdoor fireplace was great and the hot tub was nice. All in all, not worth as much as we were charged per night.

Owner's Response: This is a cottage, and is only 950 square feet. A high-end full-size mattress is in one room, and a Tempur Pedic brand queen mattress is in the second bedroom. The rooms aren't huge, but average or above average in size for the craftsman cottage of the time period and there is space to move around. The couch and chair are actually only several years old (purchased in 2012), but they were chosen to keep the antique feel of the cottage. The coffee table is actually going to be updated soon, as a former doggy-guest felt like it was a good chew toy. I am hand-painting a cute checker playing table for the replacement. I am always looking to update any kitchen items that are felt to be missing, so I can add those to the repertoire (although there are four wine glasses in one of the cupboards). The basement does smell like a basement, not sure what I can do about that seeing as it is a 100 year old lakeside cottage. I am always looking to make a nice stay for guests, so comments and suggestions are appreciated.
This cottage was clean & very close to Ithaca. We had a wedding at Cornell & found the location very convenient. We spent 3 days here. It felt like home. It was much nicer than having a hotel room. The owner is very co-operative to whatever you need. We would stay here again.
Just 10 minutes from downtown Ithaca on a large wooded lot. Hot tub and wonderful large patio with a fire place overlooking the lake. The Shoppes at Ithaca Mall is only 5 minutes away, and easy access to wineries on the east side of the lake.
