Milarepa brings you back to nature with a relaxing and unique private beachfront setting. Located just north of the Cabo Blanco National Park on the unspoiled southern coast of the Nicoya Peninsula. Milarepa is a romantic tropical escape, set amongst the rainforest and coconut palms at the foot of the Pacific Ocean. Our beachfront property offers spectacular ocean views and unforgettable sunsets. The property consists of a pool-side open-air pavilion dinning room/ living room area, with an attached commercial kitchen and bathroom.. For lodging we have 4 Indonesian inspired bungalow-style bedrooms with open air, en suite bathrooms. The Bungalows are open to nature on all sides and are designed to sit harmoniously within this tropical beach environment. The antique four-poster beds are curtained with voluminous mosquito nets and cooled by overhead fans and feature 300 thread count Egyptian cotton linens. The primary building materials are bamboo and teak for a stylish rustic charm not previously seen in Costa Rica. There are several large mango and Bodhi trees which are home to a large family of howler monkeys. For the past decade Milarepa has been a favorite hideaway for celebrities, athletes, rock stars, and fashion icons.
The surf and sea are just a few short steps from your bungalows and feature some of the best surf breaks in Central America. At mid to low tide there are several gorgeous tide pools located directly in front of the property. There is no public access to the pristine white sand beach just in front of Milarepa so at many times of the year you have it all to yourself.
Our in-house concierge service can arrange everything you’ll require to complete the perfect getaway. We can provide some of the countries finest private chefs for an inspired tasting menu one night then a local cook for “typical” Costa Rican meal the next. We also offer beverage and wine service, relaxing or therapeutic massage, juice and raw food cleanses, private yoga classes, pilates classes, surf lessons, surf tours, quad tours, canopy tours, and restaurant recommendations and reservations. Daily house keeping is included at no additional cost.
Santa Teresa is located on the southern tip of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula. Once you’ve you arrived in San Jose you can either drive or fly here. At your request we can coordinate your private charter flights, helicopter services, car rentals, and taxi service to get you here comfortably. Should you choose to drive we will send you detailed directions.
Living in Paris, traveling the world for work and holidays, I had a dream of one day living on a beautiful tropical beach full time! I came to Costa Rica and fell in love with Santa Teresa. This property was the culmination of that dream.

The Milarepa is one of the most amazing and unique beachfront properties in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais. Located on the exclusive northern end of Santa Teresa. We enjoy spectacular ocean views and unforgettable sunsets. The best surf spots in Central America are just steps away from your bedroom.
4 private bedroom/bungalows on 2 and a half acres of pristine beach/jungle grounds with stunning views through the coconut grove of the ocean and sunsets. Mango and almond trees filled with wildlife such as monkeys, iguanas, humming birds to name a few.
From the moment we arrived til the moment we had to leave (very hard to...) the experience at Milarepa was unforgettable and perfect in every way. The bungalows are beautifully integrated into the environment and simple... they had the necessary to feel comfortable and relaxed. The open-air bathrooms are lovely. Jesica and Nauel (hope i'm spelling his name right) were both remarkable hosts, they made us feel at home and offered to help us in any way and gave us great tips for the area. The dinners are absolutely delicious and fresh, chef Sebastian is a great cook and prepared fresh daily menus. We had the best tuna tartar and mahi mahi ever... I highly recommend The Milarepa!
We this about Milarepa every day. We stayed there for nearly a month and grew to love it more and more each day. The main "house" is an open air kitchen/dining/living area. Very open and social. A music system accepts iPhones and iPads and the like to create the atmosphere of our choice. A daily maintained pool and patio is directly outside the main building. Each of the four bungalow "sleeping cottages" are also open air, simple in decor, featuring outdoor showers and covered toilets and sinks.
We signed up for cooking and laundry and cleaning in and out (was part of our package) and the team became part of our family. They were great to have around, and of course kept the place ship shape every day.
The owners helped us get in touch with ATV rentals, surf instructors, and even helped us get our kids enrolled in the local school for a couple of weeks. They were awesome.
The beach is super private, and next door neighbors are a very quiet, upscale hotel (Florablanca?) that further keeps things peaceful and safe.
Love Milarepa. Hope to return soon!
Milarepa was amazing for my wedding ceremony! My husband and I wanted to get away from the stress and really enjoy a relaxed and peaceful wedding with our closest friends and relatives. Milarepa and it's staff couldn't have been more wonderful and the bungalows were a dream. We have been to Santa Teresa before and knew it was right for our wedding. Very chill and friendly hosts and a fantastic chef for our wedding, Jim Kelly of Soma, along with his staff made out day just right. Caroline and Phillippe made the process extremely easy for us. We will be back in the future for sure!

One of my favorite places on earth, this was my 4th stay at Milarepa. Stunningly beautiful, totally uniquely tranquil setting, jungle abutting the beach/ocean, monkeys in the canopy of trees....and a pool! The owners make whatever you need happen, from transportation to activities to food. Words cannot really describe how precious is Milarepa, you must experience it to understand. I will be going back soon and often. If you are reading this, you should already be heading there by the time you're get to the end of this sentence!
Milarepa was perfect. Everything we could ask for.
The property is is right on the water, surrounded by beautiful landscaping the occasional howler monkey. The staff was incredible. Would definitely recommend having Marta cook for you if possible. She's amazing. Everything she made us was delicious, and it coming together in the main gazebo was always one of my favorites.
Christine was a wonderful owner. Very helpful is setting up daily excursions and responsive whenever we had problems (which were few and far between).
Again, I can't say enough good things about Milarepa or Santa Teresa. We came with a group of friends, but it would also be ideal for families or groups of families.
I will definitely be back.
I could not be more effusive about Milarepa. My only reluctance in fully sharing how magical, comfortable, and gracious Milarepa is, is that this place is so perfect I want to keep knowledge of it as a precious secret for my family alone.
Clearly not making that choice, Milarepa is a quiet retreat, perfectly located to journey to nearby adventures. Caroline and her impeccable staff available to arrange everything from grocery shopping to trail rides.
We chose to have Caroline arrange to have Martha cook breakfast and lunch, and we either cooked dinner or went to one of the nearby restaurants for dinner. It was a perfect combination and worked seamlessly, and although I do have adult children who love to cook, even if your family does not have chefs "in house" the kitchen is user friendly and grocery stores nearby.
The proximity to the beach combined with the peaceful and private setting of the resort allow great flexibility in activity choices -- some can surf, while others read on their bungalow porch, and all join together for meals or a sunset.
This past January was our second visit, and we will certainly be returning again.
You have an incredible slice of paradise! My family and I loved it very much and we can’t wait to come back.
We loved the beautiful surroundings and how close to nature it felt, with the plants, flowers, insects, lizards, birds and sea. Coming from the city it was a much welcomed and appreciated change of pace for the whole family. We didn't even mind being woken by the monkeys in the morning. It was just beautiful to listen to them howling away as the sun came up.
Food wise, it was really good, lots of great area restaurants to choose from and we even treated ourselves to a private chef for one very special gourmet dinner. We also loved having the option of cooking for ourselves in the kitchen on the nights we chose to stay in. Starting our days with Martha’s “gallo pinto” and fresh tortillas were one of the many highlights, and the other breakfasts she provided were all beautifully done. We especially loved the fresh green coconuts!
On the whole, we loved how personal and private our stay at the Milarepa was. It was clean, serene, gorgeous and had a relaxed jungle vibe. The bungalow bedrooms were simple, but perfect and comfortable. The surfing was excellent as was the yoga.
I guess to sum it up, we'll be back for sure. We will also recommend to friends who love the outdoors and will appreciate the nature and rustic appeal.
Thank you again for your hospitality and arranging all of our activities. Should you and you family make it to NYC please don’t hesitate to contact us. Pura vida!
