This is a family home which was built in 1990 following the destruction of the original house on the lot by Hurricane Hugo (you will see a photo on the wall of the lot the day after the storm that appeared on the front page of the New York Times). As a family-owned home, which we all use when it's not rented, we care deeply for it and we believe it shows.
It is filled with amazing memories of family gatherings, parties, beach outings, oyster roasts, fresh crab and shrimp dinners, sun bathing on the lower deck, looking for horned toads and ghosts crabs under the house. Now when we stay there, one of our favorite rituals is to rise early every morning, grab a beach chair and large mug of coffee and go sit in the sand at the waters edge to enjoy our coffee and plan our day. For me, this house represents a peaceful, idyllic life.
We have stayed at several houses on Sullivan's Island and this house was one of the most comfortable homes we've stayed in. The owners were terrific in responding to our needs and so nice to deal with. The location for us was perfect! Loved sitting on the front porch and relaxing. The house is clean and very well supplied with all the essential items. We definitely want to come back and stay at this house
Our family of five stayed here and had a ball. The house was in great condition, with very new looking flooring, paint, cabinets, etc. The master bedroom is big and bright. The bathrooms are not large, but clean and pretty new looking as well. There were beach chairs and umbrellas. Wonderful breeze on the front porch with partial ocean views. We will be back!
I cannot say enough positive things about this beach house and the three wonderful, responsive sisters who own it!! My family of six adults, a toddler and two babies had such a fabulous week at this great beach house. We were welcomed by a beautiful bouquet of tulips on the coffee table which symbolizes the attention to detail the owners pride themselves in.
We had plenty of room for all the baby gear we had to bring and needless to say the new high efficient washer and dryer got a workout. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a gas grill for cooking outside, although we took advantage of having a golf cart (Julie, one of the owners recommended who to rent from which was a significant cost savings) and ordered a lot of take-out from the amazing restaurants on Sullivan's Island.
This location could not be better!!! Ocean view from the front porch (loved the rockers) in a very nice, quite neighborhood, Jasmine blooming all around and pelicans flying over the ocean. Extremely easy to get to the beach even with two strollers and beach chairs which thank goodness was available at the house and we did not need to bring.
I would highly recommend this beach house to anyone!! Wish we could have stayed for a month!!!
Staying at this house for a week was undoubtedly one of the best vacations we've ever had. The house itself is beautiful, spacious, and has all the amenities you'd expect from a great vacation rental. There are also unexpected little extras that really set it apart, like tons of beach toys and accessories - there's even a kayak! The location of the house itself is incredible, literally across the street from the beach. We sat in rocking chairs on the front porch each evening looking out at the water. We rented bikes and it was a 5 minute ride to coffee shops and restaurants. It couldn't have been in a more perfect spot. The sisters who own the house are extremely accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we had a great trip. We will DEFINITELY be back, I've already emailed them about availability for next year!
Very relaxing, and wonderful location right across the street from the beach! The walk to the beach is mcuh shorter than most other sections of the Island. The beach is absolutely beautiful, with natural dunes, and lovely calm sandbars, no commercialized areas at all. The homeowners were extremely accessible and responsive. The furnishings were much nicer than most rental homes we have used, with very comfortable beds, clean linens, and no "disposable" furniture.
The kayak was a bonus, as were the beach accessories!
We were only disappointed by the lack of a screened in porch-- the sound of the ocean waves would have been even better if there was a "bug free" sitting area for the evenings.
Don't miss dinner at Salt!
The sisters who own this home really cared about making sure we had a great week at the beach. They answered questions beforehand, sent groupons for activities we might enjoy, and have a wonderful home! The house was clean, comfortable, in great shape, and had extra sheets and an inflatable mattress so that we could spread out. The kitchen was a great spot for cooking in. The toys and area under the house made for great trips to the beach (nearby access) and easy cleanup. My husband and I brought our 2 young boys, my parents, and my nephew. It was our first trip to Sullivan's Island and it was perfect for a family - quiet, there was a large tidal pool to play in, close enough to Charleston to ride in for the afternoon to visit the aquarium, take a boat cruise...Of the island restaurants - the best were Poe's Tavern and the BBQ place. Surprised to find out that Mt. Pleasant also had some great waterfront spots as well. Hope to return! Thank you for the hospitality and a wonderful week!
