Want to get away? Sit on a large rocking chair porch and look at miles of hills and trees and the three horses in the front pasture? Want to walk on 41 acres of land or lie on a hammock, under a tree, hear the sound of cow bells, and chickens clucking? Want to eat outside, either on the porch, or the patio, or inside in the dining room or antique country table? Wake up with the sunlight streaming in, and usually a few deer visible in the 2nd pasture. Or look over at the small pond, where frogs are making that great sound. Do you want to sit in the sun-room listening to music, with the fireplace and the 'entertainment' system, or in the living room, with the wood burning stove, and the floorplanks that are 140 years old? And then, when everyone announces they are starving there is the large, beautiful kitchen, open to all the views, making chopping a delight, or the back to basics charcoal BBQ. Best of all, at the end of a day of antiquing, fishing, swimming in a lake, kayaking, playing minigolf and seeing a movie, settle into a HUGE bathtub, and just soak.
For us, this place is heaven. We hope it is for you too.

I am a General Manager of Broadway shows, and my wife is a Life Coach. Our son is going to Yale this September. We love art, music, theater, traveling and finding gelato.
The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2009
We fell in love with this property and the easy 2 and half hour ride up the Taconic to get there. The house is open and airy, yet with fireplace and woodburning stove. It has a fabulous kitchen and we love to cook. It's peaceful but close to stores, restaurants, minigolf, and movies. We love the combination of 'things to do' and just feeling secluded.
The antiquing is great, the nearby drive-in is retro, lots of great restaurants and the nature is beautiful. Watch humming birds feed from your rocking chair on the porch. Go to Hudson, Catskill, Hunter, Woodstock, Albany or just stay put.
This is a really lovely getaway, a fairly short drive from NYC but like another world. The farmhouse is a wonderful combination of old architecture and modern conveniences, very clean and beautifully furnished and spacious with a large eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room with fireplace, and family room with woodburning stove in addition to the comfortable bedrooms. Plenty of room for your family to hang out together or to have alone time, whichever you feel like doing. During warm months there is also a picnic table and a hammock under large, shady trees.
You can sit on the big, comfy porch and watch the sunset and the horses grazing in the paddock right in front of you with the barn cats purring on your lap if you let them. My two dogs loved exploring the pasture and the woods, full of intriguing critter smells and safely distant from traffic.
Very close by you can find a variety of very good restaurants (and pizza and burger joints if you prefer), antique shops, parks with hiking, swimming and boating, lots of local history and culture to check out. The owners, Peter and Ahna, are friendly and helpful. All in all a sweet deal, highly recommended.
It is a very relaxing and tranquil experience. Beautifully furnished and a very equipped kitchen. There are many activities available in the vicinity.
This farmhouse in the Catskills is one of the most tranquil places you could hope to spend a weekend within striking distance of New York City. Not only is the house in a lovely setting, but it is also very tastefully furnished and well equipped. We were looking for somewhere to take children where they could have a lovely outdoor weekend and we would have all the comforts of home - this house was it in every way. We found hiking and horse riding within easy reach and plenty of places to eat, buy food etc. We dealt with the owner Peter directly and we was extremely pleasant and accomodating to us - we will definitely be back!
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful week in this house, and would absolutely recommend it. The house is beautiful with all the charm of an old farmhouse but with all the modern updates. The house sits back on a very quiet road, surrounded by green fields and a lovely view across the Hudson River. It's convenient to the town of Catskill and not far from Hudson, NY. A great place for a relaxing country vacation!
This is the ideal getaway and a perfect escape from city life. The house is beautiful! It's open and airy while being cozy at the same time. It's clean and very well taken care of. It’s a true home, not just a rental property. It has all the amenities one could want. Because we were only 2 people and a dog, we had a ton of room. It was a real treat for us coming from our tiny apartment in Brooklyn. The land surrounding the house is stunning, nature at its best. Our dog had a blast. The neighbors’ horses graze on the field in front of the house; it was so much fun getting to greet them each day. I even got to see a hummingbird from the front porch.
Communicating with Peter, one of the homeowners was also a pure pleasure. He really made me feel like a welcome and wanted visitor. The house and the property are so enchanting it was hard to leave; I wish I could have stayed longer. I hope I get the opportunity to return soon!
We stayed in this idyllic house during the winter with cousins and in-laws and teenagers, when skiing and other winter sports were available. The house is wonderfully warm and welcoming and beautifully furnished - the perfect place for friends and family to meet for a reunion. Fabulous views, great wandering through the fields, very comfortable bedrooms, and plenty of room for activities by various age groups - cozy corners for reading and listening to music, fireplace to relax and chat, tables to play board games, The downstairs is very open, with the kitchen open to the living area, so one is never "stuck in the kitchen" - a fun place for communal cooking and long relaxed meals. Great porch sitting with birds, deer, and, we understand, now other animals.
We love to explore new areas and were happy to find lots of places to go antiqueing, easy access to shopping, and lovely landscapes. Something for everybody!
We look forward to returning soon!
