Overview

Minnesott Beach House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

The River House is a private home that stands on three and one half acres of peaceful, wooded privacy on the south shore of the tidal Neuse River. Central heat and air and ceiling fans provide year round climate comfort. Its three upstairs bedrooms sleep nine and there is room so that two or three more small-fry could always find a place to sleep. The living room's large windows provide a panoramic view of the river, and its large sofa and four easy chairs provide plenty of seating room to enjoy the big TV or the wood burning fireplace. In the dining room, the large table can easily seat eight and the adjacent bar can handle two more for meals. The kitchen is furnished with all appliances, dishes and utensils a cook could need. In the popular game room you will find a full size pool table, a game table, a selection of board games, a dart board and a TV.

Outside in the peace and quiet, the large deck overlooks the river that is three miles wide and stretches out into the Pamlico Sound to the East as far as the eye can see. There you can relax in the hammock or sit in one of the big rocking chairs and watch the great blue herons and the stealthy ospreys work the river for tasty seafood morsels. The grounds offer sandy beaches and a grassy yard with plenty of space for all kinds of fun and games - horseshoes, badminton, croquet, volleyball, softball or football just to name a few. The waters of the Neuse here offer an abundance of blue crabs and fish of many varieties. All can be caught right out on the River House fishing dock. Flounder gigging is also an excellent after dark pastime here on summer nights.

Boating is wonderful in this area. The River House is diagonally across the river from Oriental, the sailing capital of North Carolina.

The River House has its own boat ramp where small boats and jet skis can be launched. There is a deep water marina 1/2 mile away.

For those who want some ocean time, Atlantic Beach is only forty minutes away. For those who want to do some special shopping or sight seeing, historic Beaufort, New Bern and Morehead City are all within thirty to forty minutes. Golfers will find the Carolina Pines golf course only thirty minutes away. You can find grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants, movie theater, etc. in Havelock which is twelve miles away.

The River House is truly a wonderful place for family fun, for friends to gather, for sportsmen to make a home base, or even for business groups to hold team building retreats.

Kitchen- electric range and oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee grinder, automatic coffee maker, dishes, silverware and full range of cooking utensils. Two grills outside, a charcoal Weber and a gas grill.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh A Home Away From Home

Linda W. Hebron, CT

Review Submitted February 6, 2010 Date of Stay June 27, 2009

The tranquil morning coffee while rocking on the deck, overlooking the Neuse River, can quiet even the hardiest vacation critics. The sound of the moving water, complimenting the wildlife that visits every morning is spectacular. The listing was as it said, away from it all, with all the amenities that a guest would require. With our two families, space was not even a factor. The recreation available was more then sufficient. Fishing was at its best, even when the dolphins chased the fish away. We held our annual outdoor family reunion on the property. Jerry was right there manicuring the lawn the day before even though it was not needed. His hospitality was beyond that of a southern gentleman. The guests loved the house, its relaxing atmosphere, and yes the fishing. The not so youngens loved the constant breeze from the river. Living in a city with ten million people surrounding us, the culture shock vacationing in a tranquil, quiet, environment was non existent. The only bad thing was having to leave the River House. We would recommend vacationing at the River Front home to everyone. We will surely return, and enjoy the soul refreshing vacation on the banks of the Neuse River. Note: Linda and family returned for another two weeks in July 2011.

Family trip to visit our son at Cherry Point

  • 4 of 5

We had a great week at the River House. My daughter (7) as well as my son and his buddy had plenty to do and plenty of room to do it. The house and yard were spacious. We spent most afternoons on the dock fishing and the evenings were spent playing pool. By far better than being cooped-up in a hotel room! My son also enjoyed that I could cook some of his favorite meals and my daughter was happy she could still watch her morning cartoons (Direct TV). The location is great; very peaceful but not far from town.

Thanks Jerry - we will be contacting you next time we make the trip.

Christmas at the River House

  • 5 of 5

Hi! Our family of six, two adults and four children ages 9, 7, 5, and 1 rented the River House for Christmas. We were visiting family in the area for the week. We arrived at the River House Christmas Eve. The owners kindly put a Christmas tree up for us! It was just perfect. They decorated it too!

The home was just as a pictured, although it feels larger in person. The three bedrooms fit us perfectly with plenty of room to spare. Our kids loved playing with the pool table and running around the property. They loved playing on the dock too. One early morning, as the sun was coming up, I spotted a school of dolphins in the brackish waters. It was just beautiful and so serene. I took many photos with my DSLR camera. Just a beautiful setting!

The kitchen has everything one would need to make just about any kind of meal. Small or large. We even used one of the outside grills to cookout on.

I would like to note that we didn't have any Sprint cell phone service out there. So, make sure you get what you need if you need to have service. It was nice to be disconnected to technology for once.

Our family had a great time! We loved the property and all the space it provided. Thank-you Jerry!

Owner's Response: Thank you for a great review of your stay at the River House. I was glad to provide you with a Christmas tree for your visit. In ten years yours was our first Christmas rental. I am sorry that your Sprint cell phone service was unavailable. Verizon service is excellent there and I have had reports that ATT&T service is also good. We do have Wi-Fi service at the River House that will enable email communications and phone service also, provide that an App such as Skype is used.

Great Private Retreat, Wide Open Spaces, Beautiful Views

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at this property for over 7 weeks during summer 2014. Had a wonderful time! We needed space for our boats, yard for our dog, room for kids to sleep comfortably, and a place close to water. This fit the bill nicely. The views of sound are incredible, and the hummingbirds are fun to watch in the mornings. Jerry was a great host and cared about our stay.

The property is a little off the beaten path, but we liked it that way. We had a 30 minute ride to Beaufort Inlet to launch our big boat and a boat ramp on the property to launch small fishing boat. The crabbing is outstanding.

In the spirit of full disclosure, there are 2 things folks need to know: the property manager resides on a private ground floor. She was a wonderful person to get to know and we hardly noticed her there. She is a marine and maintains the property duties like mowing, trash collection, etc. The second item is internet - it is a cellular device that provides limited service. We were a bit surprised by the wireless limitations, but our situation was unique in that my wife and I worked from there for 7 weeks. So Jerry was flexible and made accommodations that were satisfactory for our stay. If you have heavy wireless/data needs, please talk though this with Jerry.

Overall, we had the best summer of our lives staying at this river house. We relaxed, we fished, and we worked - all while our kids and dog had plenty of space to roam/explore. We even decided to make a property purchase at Atlantic Beach b/c of this summer trip.

Jerry - thanks for everything!!

Relaxing house with river view and a great yard!

  • 4 of 5

We recently stayed here and we loved looking out at the river while our dogs played in the yard. The property is very secluded and quiet, but close to ocean beaches and nearby towns. While here, we visited Atlantic Beach, Beaufort, Cape Lookout, Swansboro, and New Bern. We also watched the wild horses swimming from our ferry ride to Cape Lookout. The house is very comfortable and spacious, and the wraparound deck is so relaxing for a morning cup of coffee or a quiet evening. We enjoyed our stay here very much!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

My son is stationed at Cherry Point and we were looking to visit over Thanksgiving. Needed something that our family of 5 adults, including him would accommodate. The River House was perfect. We flew into New Bern on Thanksgiving Day and I wasn't even thinking that places wouldn't be opened that day. I asked Jerry and he checked the local stores for me and told me the hours they would be opened. Very nice! It was a little chilly and quite breezy for our stay (except the day we left the sun came out!) but that wasn't the reason we were there. We were 12 miles from Cherry Point, got to visit the base, took a day trip to Atlantic Beach and enjoyed the quaint town of New Bern and the birthplace of Pepsi-Cola. Wal-Mart or Food Lion was close by along with lots of other places to eat. House was great and we could spread out. Enjoyed some fishing, no luck ,playing pool, darts, scrabble and my daughter and her husband did a puzzle they had found. Lots of books too if you like to read. I enjoyed sitting out on the deck with a blanket and a cup of tea reading a book I found there...The 5 people you will meet in Heaven. WONDERFUL!!! Again, loved The River House. My son will be departing CP in March or so but if we ever are looking for a place to go on a relaxing vacation this is the place!! Thanks again!

Relaxing Capitol of NC

  • 5 of 5

I rated this place real high and this was a stay that had 2 days of good weather and 5 days of bad news. If you don't do anything else while you're there you need to sit on the front deck for sunrise with coffee , off and on during the day and during the evening with something you enjoy. If you don't relax there you have a medical problem. For a pet its really great as they have lots of room to wander under a watchful eye mind you. The home is very well appointed and equipped with everything you'll need. If your WIFI needs are heavy you'll need to do some prior planning as the equipment there is good but minimal. I would recommend it for any family regardless of age. This one is a winner.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the very kind words about the River House. We want all of our guests to fees as if they have come to their own second home. One thing we cannot control is the weather. But, we agree that the sun always shines at the River House.
