Rates may vary based on number of guests and time of the year* Historical Guesthouse are different locations. Please visit my second listing for the Downtown location

This inviting and relaxing home is located in historic german village, steps away from gorgeous schiller park; a quiet, friendly neighborhood that is listed on the national register of historic places and was recognized as a preserve america community. Located just south of downtown, you will enjoy strolling through the brick streets looking at the beautiful homes and gardens throughout the neighborhood. Walk to popular fine dining at lindy's or barcelona or stroll down third street and visit the original max and erma's! Get a taste of germany at juergan's bavarian bakery or schmidt's sausage haus, and don't forget the cream puff! There are many other great restaurants in the area to sample, too many to mention! Set time aside to wander through the 32 rooms at the bookloft then head to schiller park for shakespeare summer theater. If you leave german village during your stay you will want to check out the brewery district, the arena district and the short north.

We are approximately 1 mile to both children’s hospital and grant hospital, 1 and 1/2 miles from the theater district and the state house, 3 miles to capital university, 5 miles to the ohio state university, and walking distance to schiller park and countless restaurants and attractions! Relax on the front porch watching the neighbors walk their dogs or on the backyard patio while grilling out!

The home sleeps 8 people - the first floor has a living room, dining room, 1/2 bath and a large, fully stocked kitchen with a great island for relaxing with friends. The second floor has 2 bedrooms with 1 queen bed and 1 full bed and a full bath. The third floor has a master suite with an adjacent living room.

Less then 10 minutes from popular destinations to include nationwide arena, the columbus clippers stadium, the crew stadium, the convention center, the expo center, the state fairgrounds, the ohio state university, capital university and berliner park. Approximately 20 minutes from the columbus zoo and aquarium, ohio dominican university, rickenbacker air national guard base, hiking, golfing, dining and much more!

If interested in adventure sports, i can arrange mountain biking tours, hang gliding flights and hikes to hocking hills.

About Roger Vivas

I am a Venezuelan adopted by Columbus, which I proudly call my second hometown.

I have traveled the world extensively and my best experiences always came from small places owned and managed by people who really cared; not only about their business and their guests but also their community. With Vivas Guesthouse, I have the opportunity to make a difference to those who visit this great city and to the German Village neighborhood.

I am apart of this community; an ambassador who is eager to share my knowledge with others so they can understand why Columbus is so great! I can suggest what to see, where to eat or even cook for you myself. I am here to ensure your stay is wonderful.

I have dedicated my career to hospitality; worked for years in hotels and restaurants and wanted to get away from the cookie cutter. A destination like Vivas Guesthouse will save you from having to feel like a stranger occupying one of the hundreds of identical rooms. Vivas Guesthouse is a boutique destination that feels like home. You can use one of the many bikes to explore the neighborhood, stay in the master suite that I built with my own hands, and even cook a meal in the fully equipped kitchen. Or even better, have me cook that meal for you. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Warmest Regards,

Roger Vivas

Great place and an adorable neighborhood!”

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I had a wonderful stay. The house had a wonderful, inviting ambiance- beautifully decorated. The house had everything we needed and the kitchen was fully equipped. We found everything to be clean and well kept. The neighborhood is delightful with an amazing park nearby to take a stroll, and great restaurants, coffee shops and supermarkets at a walking distance. We highly recommend it, the owner was always reachable by phone or email. He made our stay pleasant and hassle free!

Awesome cozy fun stay!!!

  • 5 of 5
Everything about this place was great! The location, the host, really clean and they were very attentive. My husband and I arrived several hours after the original plan but Roger and Tessa were available and so understanding.

It was a central location for everything great Columbus has to offer. Breakfast was dry cereal and coffee self serve but they had amazing suggestions for the day out and places to eat, enjoy and even after forgetting a few items when packing the worry was none. They had all the items I forgot to pack!!! We adore this place and we will be back! Very interesting couple!

Wonderful House Great Host!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time in German Village and felt like locals coming back to this wonderful house. Roger was very helpful and friendly, he recommended some local restaurants that were really good and I doubt we would of gone to without his recommendation. The house is well designed, was clean and comfy. It was nice to be able to wake up in morning start the day with coffee and breakfast and then venture out to explore the city. We had 4 people staying and when we compared the guesthouse to hotels it was a no brainer, it was a great value and we had a much more personal experience than a hotel would of provided. Felt a lot like being in Europe!

Below my standards.

It looks real nice in the pictures but first of all it was not clean, the toweling was inadequate, the front steps were dangerous, it had 1 usable shower, all the floors are spongy the back yard was not an enjoyable sitting area. the stairs going to the upper floor are dangerous, I hurt my knee trying to get to the bedroom, every corner in the house had cob webs and spiders and the odor was bad in all the bathrooms..

Owner's Response: At Vivas Guesthouse, we make all efforts to accommodate our guest needs.
Check in time is 3 pm and house access information is provided the day prior to arrival; this guest arrived at 10:30am without notification and entered the home before the housekeeper had arrived as there was a group checking out that day; when the housekeeper arrived, she tried to clean the best possible around the guest belongings.
Outdoor sitting has been removed due to heavy rains and temperatures on the 40's and Ohio unpredictable weather.
The house offers two full bathrooms and a half a bath. One of the bathrooms has a shower/tub and the other one offers a claw foot tub with a telephone shower; designed that way to compliment our style in the master suite which is a private space on the third floor.
The Vivas Guesthouse is located in historical German Village; most houses were built between 1880 and 1910 which brings the charm to our neighborhood; a rail has been installed to assist our guests.

Great stay!

  • of 5
The location was fantastic (within walking distance of the Jaeger Bakery and Schmidt's restaurant). The decor inside was very nice. The owner left us lots of amenities in the kitchen which we appreciated. You do have to duck your head to get into the 3rd floor loft, but that just adds to the charm of the place. We recommend it highly and would stay there again!

Great place to stay

  • of 5
This was a really great place to stay. Roger is a very helpful host, and I would gladly return if I ever travel back to Columbus. There were just a couple minor house issues while there, but Roger was very very easy to get ahold of and did everything he could to correct the problems!
