Columbus House Rental Photos and Description

Two Unique Destinations Offering A True Urban Experience

Rates may vary based on number of guests and time of the year* Historical Guesthouse and Downtown Loft are different locations. Please visit my second listing for the Downtown location

This inviting and relaxing home is located in historic german village, steps away from gorgeous schiller park; a quiet, friendly neighborhood that is listed on the national register of historic places and was recognized as a preserve america community. Located just south of downtown, you will enjoy strolling through the brick streets looking at the beautiful homes and gardens throughout the neighborhood. Walk to popular fine dining at lindy's or barcelona or stroll down third street and visit the original max and erma's! Get a taste of germany at juergan's bavarian bakery or schmidt's sausage haus, and don't forget the cream puff! There are many other great restaurants in the area to sample, too many to mention! Set time aside to wander through the 32 rooms at the bookloft then head to schiller park for shakespeare summer theater. If you leave german village during your stay you will want to check out the brewery district, the arena district and the short north.

We are approximately 1 mile to both children’s hospital and grant hospital, 1 and 1/2 miles from the theater district and the state house, 3 miles to capital university, 5 miles to the ohio state university, and walking distance to schiller park and countless restaurants and attractions! Relax on the front porch watching the neighbors walk their dogs or on the backyard patio while grilling out!

The home sleeps 8 people - the first floor has a living room, dining room, 1/2 bath and a large, fully stocked kitchen with a great island for relaxing with friends. The second floor has 2 bedrooms with 1 queen bed and 1 full bed and a full bath. The third floor has a master suite with an adjacent living room.

Less then 10 minutes from popular destinations to include nationwide arena, the columbus clippers stadium, the crew stadium, the convention center, the expo center, the state fairgrounds, the ohio state university, capital university and berliner park. Approximately 20 minutes from the columbus zoo and aquarium, ohio dominican university, rickenbacker air national guard base, hiking, golfing, dining and much more!

If interested in adventure sports, i can arrange mountain biking tours, hang gliding flights and hikes to hocking hills.

I am a Venezuelan adopted by Columbus, which I proudly call my second hometown.

I have traveled the world extensively and my best experiences always came from small places owned and managed by people who really cared; not only about their business and their guests but also their community. With Vivas Guesthouse, I have the opportunity to make a difference to those who visit this great city and to the German Village neighborhood.

I am apart of this community; an ambassador who is eager to share my knowledge with others so they can understand why Columbus is so great! I can suggest what to see, where to eat or even cook for you myself. I am here to ensure your stay is wonderful.

I have dedicated my career to hospitality; worked for years in hotels and restaurants and wanted to get away from the cookie cutter. A destination like Vivas Guesthouse will save you from having to feel like a stranger occupying one of the hundreds of identical rooms. Vivas Guesthouse is a boutique destination that feels like home. You can use one of the many bikes to explore the neighborhood, stay in the master suite that I built with my own hands, and even cook a meal in the fully equipped kitchen. Or even better, have me cook that meal for you. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Warmest Regards,

Roger Vivas

GREAT RENTAL FOR FAMILIES/ FRIENDS!

  • 4 of 5
10 girlfriends and I rented the house and the loft for a girl's weekend in June. The house was perfect for our needs Spent lots of time hanging out in the backyard and the location is great- right in the heart of German Village. Roger was great to work with, very responsive and accommodating. The one quirky thing about the house is that there is just the one full bath and then a bathtub in the attic suite. Very cute and romantic, but a little tough from a functionality standpoint. We had the loft too though (gorgeous!) and thus two additional bathrooms to use. Overall a great option for groups/ families. Thanks Roger!

PERFECT VACATION RENTAL WITH AN AMAZING LOCATION.

  • 5 of 5
This was my first time using this type of service and must admit I didn't know what to expect; it exceeded my expectations.
The location was incredible; didn't have to use my car at all and Schiller Park was just around the corner which worked out great for the pooch. We were a group of 7 people including two kids and space was plenty.
Roger suggested great restaurants and had one of my beast meals at a local place called G. Michaels.
Not sure when I will return to Columbus but if I do, will certainly stay there again.

PERFECT GUESTHOUSE FOR ANY TYPE OF VACATION!!!!

  • 5 of 5
What a perfect place to stay for a visit to Columbus! I'm originally from Columbus, but live away now and I rented the historical guesthouse with some friends and it was awesome! We were going to stay in a hotel but the price of the rental was better and it slept 8 people; perfect!

The house was in good shape, clean and had plenty of room for everyone. The decor in the house adds a pretty cool flavor to the place. I was impressed.

The neighborhood is quiet and the location is really cool. Plenty of great local places for breakfast, lunch and dinner within walking distance. We stayed when not much was going on in Columbus and it was still great. If it's festival time THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE!

Great place and I would definitely rent this property again. My only regret is I didn't schedule my trip with friends around those festivals because having that house in that area during any event would have been amazing.

Lastly, Roger, the owner, is a very nice and professional person. Good man and thanks!

AN INCREDIBLE HOME IN A WONDERFUL NEIGHBORHOOD

  • 5 of 5
Traveled for a family reunion; the house was everything there was to be offered. Plenty of space, fully stocked kitchen, a beautiful backyard. Roger was an amazing host, always available from the moment of booking until the end of our stay.
German Village was amazing and there were great places to eat within walking distance.
Overall, just an outstanding experience and will certainly return.
Thank you Roger!

GREAT LOCATION, SHABBY CONDITION

  • 2 of 5
I am really sorry to leave such a bad review, but I just want to make sure that the next people booking this place know what to expect. First I will point out the one positive: Roger was very responsive, understanding and accommodating and offered to move us to his other property after we complained. However, it was over the Easter weekend and we were too busy to bother for a few more nights (we were traveling from Switzerland and were very busy with family visits). Also, the location is great.
Now to the negatives: Not only was the place barely cleaned (the dining chairs were filthy and were covered with old crumbs and food), but the whole house (including appliances) is in pretty shabby condition. It is not just wear and tear from renters - it was never brought up to a respectable standard to begin with. I find it hard to believe that this can be advertised and rented on Homeaway with no one checking for quality, safety, or cleanliness. If you are a college kid looking for a big place to party with friends, I would recommend it. But if you are a family like us looking for a nice place to stay in German Village, you might want to reconsider. We have stayed in several HomeAway or VRBO properties around the world and have not had an issue like this. Just needs a total renovation and thorough cleaning. Sorry, Roger.

GREAT HOME IN A GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD!

  • 5 of 5
Rented out Rogers home for a weekend stay this past valentines day, there were 6 of us and it was still too much room!! The house came with just about anything you THINK you'd need. The bikes and hookahs were a nice touch. Roger was more than accommodating and made everything easy for us. We'd even lost the key to the property and Roger had another for us within a couple hours at no charge to us. With a Rooster's (one of the best places to eat in Columbus) literally around the corner you can't go wrong! No games this place is legit
