Marilyn purchased this house in 2011
I fell in LOVE with this home (after visiting dozens of properties in the area, including Sonora, Twain Harte and Pinecrest) the moment I walked in and saw the beautiful picture window in the living room and all the amazing, authentic woodwork throughout the home I knew I just had to purchase it. I never even opened the kitchen cabinets! Trust me, I'm very picky and you've never quite seen a home/cabin like this -- if you have, let me know, I want to rent it, too. (smile)
EXCLUSIVE: First and only hot tub in the area! Amazing views of the lush redwood, cedar and pine trees from every-single-room. This home is very private in an abundant natural setting.
Had the most wonderful Christmas vacation at the Sierra house. The house was well stocked, cozy and comfortable. We really enjoyed the extra touches, including the X-mas decorations and quilted blankets! Also, we really appreciated the hot tub and fireplace for warming up from the cold. The house is conveniently located to great grocery stores in Twaine Harte and Sonora. On one day we drove to Yosemite, and another we went to the Calaveras Big Tree Park (both recommended). Overall, everything added up to a very memorable and relaxing Christmas vacation.
We just left after a great 4 day stay. We traveled with another family of four so there were eight of us total, including two college aged kids. Everyone had a great time There were plenty of games, the kitchen was beautiful and well stocked. The college kids loved the bonus room with the arcade quality foos ball table.
We planned this trip for the kids to snowboard while we searched for our own cabin. Even though there wasn't enough snow the kids still had a great time. We will definitely call Marilyn again !!!
This rental was the perfect location for our 19th annual girl trip. The cabin/home was perfect size for us six. The driveway was a little challenging but my truck made it up no problem. The owners were wonderful to work with.
The cabin had a great deck where we enjoyed a nice family dinner every night. It was clean and spacious and very well-equipped with games to keep the kids entertained. The kitchen was big and had all the things we needed to make great dinners. We were close to some great towns and some great fishing except the fish were not biting. A great Labor Day Weekend for our family. Thank You for your great hospitality.
This is a spacious and well equipped mountain home. Bedrooms are large with sitting areas and private balconies. Kitchen large and has everything you need. Big beautiful bathrooms stocked with soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. It is areal value with linen service included large deck is safe for young children. We were impressed with how well built and well maintained it was particularly in comparison with other rentals in the area. Nice quiet setting with plenty of indoor and outdoor space for everyone. We would definitely recommend this for any age group and would love to return. Thanks Marilyn for your attention to detail and your considerate attention
Well maintained and very quiet property. It sleeps about 10 comfortably. The kids enjoyed the game room.
Used the hot tub almost every day, enjoying the trees above. Also i soaked in this amazing tub with these amazing windows over looking the trees.
Maryln the owner has all the spices, plates, cultry.
I guess the only down fall if i had to have one was the game room was very hot no air condition.
But overall our stay was perfect! Thanks Maryln !!!
FREE WiFi (Almost unheard of in the Sierras)

'Our stay at The Sierra Mountain House Getaway was fantastic! The spacious cabin easily accommodated 6 adults and 2 children. Every room of the house was beautifully decorated and well stocked with everything we needed. The cabin owner was very attentive, answered all of my emails in a very timely manner, and made sure everything at the cabin was to our liking. I can't wait to go back in the summer!!!' Lu, January 2013
'WOW! What an amazing vacation. It was a dream winter getaway and the owner was incredible! We would definitely go again! Marilyn went above and beyond the call of duty and did so many little things to make us feel welcome and special. She was always available to answer questions and give guidance. We could not have asked for more!' Chris, Christmas week 2012
'My wife and I rented the house for the Thanksgiving along with 2 other couples. The place is absolutely perfect to rest and spend some relaxing time. The place was really comfortable for everyone of us and the way the house as build helps on interacting and spending all the time together. Cabin owner was amazing, she responded all the messages really quickly and even bought a roasting pan for us to cook the Turkey! Definitely recommend to book this house! One of my best experiences so far!' Victor, November 2012
'I came to stay at the Sierra Mountain Resort for my birthday. What an AMAZING place to stay. It's quiet, cozy, has everything you could want for a mountain get-away. The grill, sunken tubs, modern kitchen, and TONS of kitchen supplies made for a VERY comfortable living situation for those who don't want to 'rough it.' My friends and I drove to Travertine Hot Springs which was about 2 hours away (through the beautiful Sierra Mountains) which was SO FUN. It was lovely returning to the cabin after a long day and cozying up next to the wood-burning fireplace and relaxing. The host was a dream to work with, always responding when I needed something and making us feel like SHE was the lucky one having us stay. I would say WE were definitely the lucky ones. AH-MAZING place. Go. Go now! Why are you still reading this? GOOOOO!' Jessica, November 2012
'This cabin was the perfect getaway for my mom's 50th birthday! It was absolutely gorgeous and immediately welcoming. The four bedrooms comfortably accommodated seven (4 parents, 3 kids) with plenty of room to spare. I can't speak highly enough of how homey it was - everyone in our party kept commenting how there would have been no way we would've felt so happy and at ease in the confines of a hotel or even bed and breakfast. We were all able to get up every morning and have freshly brewed coffee on the deck overlooking a gorgeous forest. The homeowner was so responsive on emails and via text message - she was such a breeze to work with! Thank you for helping make my mom's birthday everything I wanted it to be!' Emily, October 2012
'Perfect host, with the perfect house. She was really helpful and quick to answer my queries and she gave me a call personally days before my trip just to make sure everything was going smoothly. my friends and I (8 of us) were in awe when we arrived at her house because it was everything we expected and more. She even gifted us a basket of welcome goodies, which was really sweet and thoughtful. Our main purpose of the stay was to visit Yosemite, which was a nice 1.5hr drive away. it was unfortunate that we could only stay for 2 nights, if not we can have more time to explore what the area has to offer. also, we loved the fully equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, pots and pans, huge refrigerator) and the porch with the gas grill - we had such a fun evening preparing food and having a barbeque. overall, we had an enjoyable and wonderful stay at her house! I'd definitely love to stay there again. P.S. the photos do not do her beautiful house justice!' Phoebe, July 2012
