Lovely home in a secluded area on the water.

We stayed in this lovely home with our sister and brother-in-law over a long weekend. Everything was as described, and even nicer. The location is wonderful - close to Newport, yet not in the hustle 'n bustle of the touristic area. A car is a MUST. We also liked it because we wanted to visit family in Providence (about a 40 minutes drive from here). We never got to meet the host in person, but our interactions with her by email were fine - very responsive. The home is wonderful. We LOVED the sun room off the kitchen that gave a wonderful view of the backyard and the water beyond. That room alone made the stay perfect. The master bath was fantastic! Our siblings stayed in the other part of the house, so there was a lot of privacy. I wish we could have stayed here for more than the time we had allotted.

Road to island magic

  • 5 of 5
From the moment we turned onto Lloyd road my wife and I had that sense of "oh, this is going to be good!" The house is situated in a grove of trees with ocean views bordered by beautiful homes and a horse farm just across the street. Its a very quiet neighborhood that allows a chance to take in the sounds of the ocean and the wind rustling through the trees. The house itself was impeccably clean and well appointed the way a home is, not a rental property. From the gourmet kitchen with granite counters to walk in showers, stone firplace and stunning two story sunspace that created two distinct spaces it was ideal for both shared and private time. The house is about three miles from the quaint village of Wickford which is an old New Engalnd seaside village with many shops and a seafood market right on the docks. If you're looking for a quiet, beautiful place to stay with a natural connection to the ocean rather than the beachy feel of typical oceanfront rentals thsi is the place. Ruthann, the owner, clearly cares about the space and the people who stay there and was very helpful in recommneding local places to help make the stay more enjoyable.

Great Long Weekend in South County

  • 5 of 5
Perfect long weekend. The home is beautiful. The main cottage and the in-law suite were spotless and well maintained. The 2 greenhouses were beautiful and great places to hang out together. The walk to the water's edge was wonderful and the beach chairs allowed us to relax and take in the spectacular view. Everyone we met was kind and helpful. The local towns of Narragansett and Wickford were fun to visit and both had some great restaurants. Brinkley's ice cream is to die for. The farmer's market at Casey's farm was a lot of fun. We all had a terrific stay and would highly recommend staying at this beautiful ocean front cottage.

The house was perfect for us. Great layout.

We were able to use the beach down the street and the town beaches were very close as was the Narrow Kayak rentals - we went there twice. Very convenient to everything. We were able to get to Newport in under 15 minutes! We would love to come back next year

Lovely vacation spot

  • 5 of 5
We spent a week in this house and it was great. The house is beautifully renovated and very comfortable, with air conditioners for the really hot days, and a breezy greenhouse area to spend cooler evenings in. Everything is new and all comforts are considered. We went back more than once to Brickley's for ice cream, and the Plum Point Bistro was our favorite for dinner. Ruthann was accommodating and helpful, and Joe at Ann O'Brien realty was responsive to questions that came up. Not sure if it was wishful thinking, but my one disappointment was that I'd expected to be able to get down to the water from the yard. It is a fairly short walk to plum beach, however, and this wasn't a big deal. Also would have liked to know whether we could access the plum beach club. Thanks so much for a great week!

Owner's Response: Thanks Anne- I am so glad you and your family had a great vacation. After a heated discussion this summer, the Plum Beach board decided not to extend use of the club facilities to renters. However, they can park in the public lot at the entrance to the club and use the public access path just north of the beach club to access the public beach. You can walk quite a ways north on this lovely strip of beach under the Jamestown Bridge and past the Chafee Nature Preserve and sometimes even see bay seals. There are also the beautiful Second and Third Beaches in Middletown, a short distance away and the beach scene at Narragansett and Scarsbourough. As to the beach access from the edge of the property, there is a steep drop off at the edge of the property, so unfortunately at present, guests will need to use the path to the clearance for a beautiful view of the water and bridge.
