The Yellow House, Weston, St James – just 200 metres from the beach!
The Yellow House is our beautifully appointed cottage situated in extensive private tropical gardens, complete with fruit trees of every variety. Suitable for families or couples, this delightful cottage is in a quiet and peaceful location, yet only 200 metres from the magnificent white beaches of the West Coast, with shops, restaurants and hotel facilities within a walk or a short drive.
Built in traditional Chattel house style, with polished hardwood floors and high pine ceilings, this tastefully decorated property boasts a modern interior with open plan living space and a well- fitted and fully-equipped kitchen. There are two spacious double bedrooms, which can easily be configured as twins if required, complete with plenty of wardrobe space. There is also a well- equipped modern bathroom with shower.
The large verandah, which is accessed from the lounge area, provides the perfect place for al-fresco dining or a shady relaxing retreat to watch those amazing sunsets – maybe in the hammock with a glass of local rum!
This is a lovely vacation cottage set in an idyllic location which takes advantage of the gentle cooling Caribbean breezes. The garden is walled to the front with a fence all around and is safe for children.
Our large garden is equipped with swings, slide and a see-saw for the use of our guests’ children. We have our own fresh eggs and fresh fruit from the trees – an ideal breakfast to start your day!
For the adults we have lots of beach bars and restaurants. We have one 'Fish Fry' which is a must do. It is a takeaway about. three miles south. The Chief, who is reputed to have worked in Sandy Lane, grills fish or meat on the side of the road. I have never had the meat but the fish will blow your mind. It is a take it home thing and have a few beers and try to work your way through the finest food you have tasted.
Another past time is spot the stars. Cilla Black lives a few hundred yards away. Cliff Richard also has a place here. You meet the odd Rolling Stone. I saw Iain Woosnam a few weeks ago. Michael Flatley lives a half mile away.
Weather, the weather is nice.
My name is Kevin Woods. I had a retail jewellery business in Ireland. I retired early and sailed to the Caribbean in 2007. I live here with my wife Angela and our three children, Matthew, K'jay and Rosella.
We have eight laying chickens, although some of them have days off, so I suppose I am now a chicken farmer. We have lots of fruit trees with every kind of fruit from Mangos and bananas to things I can't pronounce.
I'll add more when I remember questions people ask me.
We bought the house and moved it to where it is now. We have a big garden. We built our house at the back of the plot. We have lots of fruit trees in the middle. The Yellow House to the front of the land.
The area is quiet. There are no discos. Our house is close enough to The Yellow House to keep an eye on it but far enough away to allow privacy.
We are located about five minutes from a fine white sandy beach. No rocks. If you walk north about two hundred yards you will see one of the finest beaches you have ever seen. Beautiful crescent shaped white sand with a backdrop of coconut and palm trees. Two miles North is Speightstown, a small town with two supermarkets. Two miles to the South is Holetown. It has a bigger supermarket with a more international feel to it. We are served by a super bus service. The cost is BB$2.00 to go anywhere. Although a car is not absolutely necessary it will enhance your stay greatly. A visit to the East Coast is recommended, to do this by bus might end up being a magical mystery tour.
