YELLOWSTONE CABIN NEAR WOLVES AND WILDLIFE

Cooke City Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

CLOSEST RENTAL TO YELLOWSTONE WOLF WATCHING!

Charming, recently built cabin with one bedroom and loft. Perfect for travelers who want easy access to Yellowstone Park's fabled Lamar Valley with its bison, elk, deer - and yes, wolves!

Located just minutes from the northeast entrance to Yellowstone National Park, our guests enjoy fabulous recreation opportunities, both in the Park and in the surrounding Beartooth Mountains and wilderness. Fly fishing opportunities abound in streams, rivers, and alpine lakes. Non-winter visitors can access the unbelievable Beartooth Pass via what Charles Kuralt once described as 'the most beautiful drive in America.' And for winter visitors there is unbeatable backcountry and cross-country skiing.

The cabin features gorgeous hardwood floors, tiled kitchen counters, a clawfoot tub/shower, and a cozy wood stove. We provide ample firewood, but the cabin also has (yet never needs) supplemental heat. The first floor bedroom has a magnificent queen-size high bed, and the loft sports two log beds, one queen-size and one single. There is also a trundle bed. We provide fresh linens upon your arrival.

You will not find a nicer place within sixty miles!

AN ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS CABIN

  • 5 of 5
Thank you for letting us stay in your BEAUTIFUL cabin! It was absolutely gorgeous and spacious. I have stayed in several different rentals and none compares to yours. You had everything that a family needed. Cooke City was the best. We loved the small town feel and everyone was so nice. Thank you!
Yellowstone was everything everyone said it was! My family and I hiked gorgeous trails and saw all kinds of wildlife. We saw buffalo, bighorn sheep, elk, bald eagle, wolf, and had four bear sightings! We were greeted by the Cooke City buffalo several times while returning to our cabin. The kids loved that! We went ziplining in Gardiner and horseback riding in the park. WOW! just a wonderful memorable family trip!
We plan to return to Cooke City and HIGHLY recommend your cabin! thanks!

This was our second time to stay at the cabin and we had a great time again! We stayed in the loft and it was extremely comfortable. It is located minutes from Lamar Valley where we saw many bear and wolves on two different occassions. I would recommend this location and beautiful cabin to anyone. The owners have been extremely prompt in returning our security deposits each time. In fact, the check was here when we returned home both times. If you're looking for a great place to stay, close to animal watching, this is the place for you.

EXCELLENT PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 of 5
Please do not let the fact that we have been remiss in reviewing Two Rib cabin sway you in any way from staying there. In fact, we highly encourage you to do so! Our family thoroughly enjoyed our visit in July. The cabin is beautiful. I especially likes the claw-footed tub...great for a soak after a day of horse-back riding! We visited Yellowstone, almost everyday, traveling through the Lamar Valley, where we saw bison, elk, deer and yes...bears! We heard there was a moose nearby, but didn't catch a glimpse. We also enjoyed the fact that The Bear Claw Bakery is a short walk away and has a delicious breakfast and wonderful pastries. If we ever have the opportunity to return to the Yellowstone/Cooke City area, we would definitely stay at the Two Rib Cabin again!

BEAUTIFUL CABIN WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED!

  • 5 of 5
We loved our stay at Two Rib Cabin! The listing did not do the cabin justice....it's better than advertised. The cabin has many amenities and was in a wonderful location, very close to the Lamar Valley. The caretaker, Vicki, was fantastic, taking care of all of our needs. Lilly was very kind to call us a couple of days before we came, letting us know about road closures and possible flooding. Both went out of their way to make us comfortable and feel at home. The cabin itself is wonderful, with everything one needs for a vacation home. Although we saw no wildlife from the cabin, we saw moose and fox driving through Silver Gate, and saw everything from wolves to bears in Yellowstone itself. I heartily recommend this cabin; it's perfect for families as well as for romantic getaways. I've already shared the VRBO # with colleagues from work! I would definitely return!

PERFECT BASE FOR YELLOWSTONE AND THE BEARTOOTHS

  • 5 of 5
We loved this cabin, it's cozy, clean, full of light and beautifully fitted out and we couldn't have been more comfortable. It was nice to be able to walk into town, and getting to the wildlife of the Lamar Valley is an easy drive, and you can also cover the Grand Loop from here, albeit in a long day.

Even though there was still a huge amount of snow on the ground we managed to get a spectacular blue-sky trip up and over the Beartooth Pass (not to be missed). Breakfasts (and Terri's cakes) at the Bearclaw were amazing; the Lamar Valley was breathtaking; and there were bears, buffalo and moose everywhere (even some bear prints outside the front door one day - that must have been the one that the neighbour's dog chased up a tree!)

Cooke City is one of the best-kept secrets of the park and we're so glad we chose this friendly little town and this cabin as our main base for Yellowstone. THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This was our second year staying at Two Rib Cabin and it was just as wonderful the second time around. The cabin itself is nicely furnished, clean, comfortable, and inviting. Even better is its location with easy access to excellent hiking, fishing, and sight seeing. My only quibble is that the house is not rented on a Saturday-Saturday basis like most rentals, so if you don't book early enough, you might get stuck with odd check in/check out days.

Advice to other travelers:

Cinnamon rolls and the other baked goods at the Bearclaw are delicious, but don't wait too late to go as the items go quickly. Then Log Cabin in Silver Gate has a good breakfast, Buns n Beds deli is good for lunch (tasty burgers and daily BBQ specials), and we liked The Beartooth Cafe for dinner (although we cooked most of our meals at the cabin).

Yellowstone is the main attraction, but don't neglect exploring the Beartooths - it has a lot to offer with a fraction of the crowds you'll find in Yellowstone.

We had good luck with wildlife sighting early mornings on Lulu Pass Road (moose four days in a row and mule deer). And even if you don't see wildlife, the wildflowers and views are just as nice.

The Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody lives up to the hype and we also enjoyed the Beartooth Nature Center in Red Lodge (as well as the fantastic Montana Candy Emporium).

If you'd like to see some pictures from the area, we have ours posted here: http://www.pbase.com/pudgy_groundhog/beartooths_2010

We'd highly recommend a visit to this beautiful area and a stay at Two Rib Cabin!
