My husband and I rented this cabin, brought up some bikes and groceries and had one of the most beautiful weekends we can remember. First, the cabin is very special, cozy, recently built with all the amenities. The bike trail is across the street from the cabin and it takes you into the gorge of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. The most scenic place in the state for sure! Views of the mountains from the cabin porch showed off the changing foliage. Don't recommend this cabin for a crowd. Two to four people ideal, beware there are no beds larger than a double so if you require a Queen or King size bed you will not sleep well. TV but no internet so we unplugged which was great. Loved the fire pit outside at night and the gas fireplace inside. Highly recommend.
We rented this cabin for the week leading up to STPR. We were pleasantly surprised after a bad experience with a different rental the previous year. It's obvious that these owners put time and care into their property. The cabin was clean (and let me tell you, I have high standards when it comes to clean!), cozy, and well appointed. The views are beautiful. My husband loved grilling and building a fire almost every night. Our five year old loved the yard, and even slept in a small tent we set up. I loved the porch swing and super soft quilts for curling up with a book. Close to everything; the rail trail, downtown Wellsboro (go to Peggy's candy store!), and New York (the falls at Watkins Glen are a must!). There is even a covered wagon tour right by the cabin. Close to all spectator points for the rally. You can't go wrong with this rental! Bob and Sherry are great and were so helpful. As a military family whose vacation time is precious, we really appreciate finding places like this one that allow us to fully enjoy our time together. Who knows we might even retire up there in a few years, and I hope our place is as nice as this one!
We stayed at Ansonia Pines this past weekend for a fall bicycle trip on the Pine Creek Rail Trail. The cabin is right across the street from the access area, making it easy to "hop on" for a quick ride The cabin is exceptionally clean and well stocked with anything one could possible need, including linens, paper products, etc. Outside is a gas grill along with a small camp fire pit area, with wood provided. My husband was overjoyed that we got to see the Steeler game on TV (and we won!).
All in all, we travel at least once a month to various destinations. This cabin is the nicest and cleanest of all we have rented. I am glad we got to experience it. Thank you.
My wife and I with three kids (17, 15 & 12) were looking for a two night stop between Gettysburg and Toronto, found this at the last minute, and Sherry and Bob couldn't have been more helpful. We ended up staying three nights and would have extended further if it had been available.
It is spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, generously stocked and is so homely that you start to relax as soon as you open the door. Every detail has been thoughtfully finished to make you feel welcome - even the bookshelves had a range of interesting books that appeal to all ages.
The cabin is beautifully designed and a feature which all children will love - and not shown in the photos - is the balconied mezzanine bedroom which runs the full width of the property, and overlooks the living room. Ours considered it a den, where they could spread out independently of Mum & Dad. We all also enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings as a family.
Difficult to get a phone signal, and no wifi, but if you are there to relax, this is the place for you. There is plenty of land, it is set in a beautiful spot, and there is plenty to do a short drive away.
We were on a 4-week, 3,000 mile road trip from England and this place was, by far, the highlight. There was a well-used visitor's book with dozens of entries, and not a negative experience amongst them. It appeared that people who stay there respect the effort that Sherry and Bob have clearly put into making it nice, and that was reflected in the condition, cleanliness and comments in the book. A real gem which would appeal to couples, families and anyone who just appreciates some home comforts in a relaxing setting.
Relaxation, exercise, solitude and comfort, a great vacation indeed!
The cabin location is wonderful. Peaceful and so quiet I napped on the front porch swing one afternoon!
It was lovely sipping our morning coffee on both of the furnished porches. The cabin is immaculate! Nice welcoming touches included were travel toiletries (if you forgot an item) and chocolate truffles. If you plan to use the washer, the owner requests that only Tide HE pods be used.
As noted in description, super access to bicycle trail and L. Harrison State Park (east rim). Many other state parks near. If you hike both canyon rims, check out the west rim, then the east rim. If you can only do one rim, make it the east rim.
I travel approximately 225 days per year for my consulting practice. I know and expect quality. Unfortunately many of my mountain experiences have been "roughing" it. Not here.
The cabin is clean and new. This can't be over emphasized. New wood floors meant I wasn't afraid to walk around in my stocking feet. New windows meant we could enjoy the mountain air quickly and easily opening up the cabin, without fear of letting every mosquito in Tioga County inside.
The kitchen was appointed with high quality, brand new appliances. Great gas stove, terrific dishwasher and clean refrigerator with an ice maker that actually works. What a concept!
The state of the art washer and dryer made quick work of the day's laundry. The gas grill outside made our steaks, chops and chicken a great way to end every evening.
The location is really quite good, with hiking, fishing and Wellsboro convenient.
If you're looking for WIFI don't. You need to digitally detox anyway. Looking for cell reception? Just bring a calling card and you'll be fine.
Would absolutely recommend this to friends and family.
