In the heart of Rome, at a few steps fom St.Peter`s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel there is a charming Liberty style villa built in 1923 and recently restored. The villa ''The Pomegranate'', surrounded by a small garden, is a green oasis in the very busy center of Rome and provides a tranquil retreat to the tourist. From our two terraces, it is possible to enjoy the view of the ancient walls designed by Michelangelo and of the Vatican gardens. Our bed and breakfast offers cozy and comfortable bedrooms, equipped with private bathrooms, TV, WIFI and heating/air conditioning. Breakfast, made of natural and organic home made products, is served either in our elegant, luminous sitting room, decorated with original stucco-works, overlooking the garden, or outside in the terrace. For those who stay one week or longer, we do not serve breakfast, but provide all the food necessary for a self-prepared one.
Please mind that, in order to reach the apartments from the street, there is a staircase of about sixty steps.
I am a 34 years old journalist and I write for the English magazine 'Wanted in Rome'. I attended the German School of Rome and later studied Political Science at the University of Rome. I am a very extroverted person and love meeting people from all countries.
Gabrielle purchased this villa in 2000
Along with my parents Robert and Micaela, I decided to create a B&B inside our beautiful villa from the 1920s. Our B&B meets different requirements from usual B&B: we give a great importance to a personal approach with our clients, because we want to do our best to make their vacation unforgettable. We also provide them with all the information needed in order to make them feel at home.
The location as well as the elegance and quality of our B&B. All the rooms have stucco-decorated ceilings and elegant Italian pieces of furniture. We provide our clients with precious linens and cotton towels. Our homemade breakfast, served in China and silver ware, consists of biological marmelades with butter and toast, freshly baked pies, yoghurt, juices and an unforgettable Italian coffee.
This is Nancy from Washington state in the Pacific Northwest. I
just wanted to tell you again how much I enjoyed staying at your
beautiful home/bed&breakfast. Everything was wonderful, including the
breakfast. I really enjoyed talking with you and your husband. I only
wish I could have stayed longer but plan to come back one day soon.
Thank you to both of you for arranging my transportation to the airport
on Oct. 16th. The driver was very gracious and had no trouble getting to
the airport in plenty of time.
Our family of 5 stayed for 9 nights in both the blue and fushia apartments. We did not get to experience the breakfast that others have raved about due to holidays, but we definitely were blown away by the hospitality of Gabi and her family. The apartments were pretty spacious by European standards, and Gabi and her mom were very good about orienting us to the apartments. They gave us a variety of breakfast foods to have at our leisure. They are literally less than a 5 minute walk to the Vatican Museum entrance, and the Cipro station is also close by. We were able to cook when we wished, and eat out when we wished, which was nice.
Gabi was very quick to answer questions, and arranged a driver for us to and from the airport. She also found us places to eat on Christmas eve and day, which was huge, as not many places were open. The apartment is situated on a hill, which meant very little street noise, and quite a view. The weather did not cooperate during our visit, so we did not get to sit on the patio, but had it been warmer, we would have spent much more time outside.
There is a huge market close by, as well as some great restaurants- La Fornace, Pizzarium, Duecento Gradi, and a great Chinese restaurant when you tire of pizza and pasta. We would definitely stay again!
We were two couples who enjoyed these old world charm apartments across from the Vatican Wall. Both apartments were very comfortable, clean and quiet. BBC TV was a bonus. A full breakfast was served in the beautiful main house dining room. We were able to use our courtyard for evening drinks and a few pizzas. There was a grocery store and several restaurants within a short walking distance Gabrielle was our lovely hostess who made us feel right at home. She speaks several languages including very good English. She was very accommodating, answering all of our questions and making several recommendations for restaurants and site seeing. We also used the driver she recommended to get us all safely back to the airport which was a big help. We would certainly rebook here on any future trip to Rome.
We rented both apartments as we were travelling with our three teenage children. The apartments are in a great location and despite being so close to the Vatican are very quiet. There are a number of stairs to descend to get to the apartments so be prepared but that aside we found the apartments to be very nice. Gabrielle greeted us on our arrival and she was very helpful. Breakfast in the dining room upstairs was a real treat each day. Our host was Gabrielle's father who is a very nice man and a gracious host. The aircon in the fuscia apartment is not great on a very hot Roman night but there is a fan which is most soothing. Close to transport and a reasonable cab fare from Centro Historico. Overall a very nice experience and a haven for weary travelers. Thankyou to Gabrielle and her father.
This was by far the best decision i made for our week long trip to Rome. We traveled to Rome with five people. Three of us including myself are in our upper 20's and we brought along two moms 50 and 60 y/o. The hosts were very good with communication everything was answered within twenty four hours. Before arriving she even offered and set us up with her driver to pick us up from the airport, which we agreed to. The apartments are just as described plus more. The entrance is right next to the Vatican wall. It's in a perfect position to get to and from the Metro, grocery store, The Vatican and St. Peters by foot. The views from the entrance gate to the apartment are breathtaking. You can see so much of Rome and feel like you are officially part of the city. Our apartments (the blue room and fuchsia room) had a common outside sitting area in between the outside the doors which was perfect for relaxing outside after a long day or waiting for someone else in the room to finishing getting ready. At the end of each day we would stop by the local grocery and get fresh cheese, meats, bread and wine (which has amazing prices, most wine was between 3-7 euros) and sit on the patio to relax and unwind from the day. Every morning we were served breakfast in the dining room. It was wonderful. There was always a warm welcome from the hosts mom. Usually they will talk with you about you day and assist you with anything you may need (directions, bookings for tours, restaurant suggestions). The host is also a journalist and writes columns for magazines and newspapers for Rome and travelers so she knows her stuff. We were served coffee, water, milk, and a different orange juice each day. There was always a bread like croissant or toast that was served with their home made jams and marmalade. There is also a lemon tart/cake that the host's mother makes that is to die for. I'll never forget that cake and will definitely be asking for the recipe. They serve everything on their fine china and take note to what you do and do not like. The rooms were as described. it was really nice having a refrigerator in each room and the space you would not get at any hotel. There is also access to the rooftop that has a spectacular view of the city. It was not noisy at all around where we were staying. There are no dumpsters or other hotels next to the location and the neighbors are nuns so it was very quaint. Overall we had an amazing experience and will be coming back. Very recommended
Our family really enjoyed staying at this place...very close to the Vatican...in fact, the Vatican wall is across the street. Robert was also very helpful in recommending bus and metro routes and places to visit. He also recommended ways and insights to reduce overall expenses. Breakfast is also included in the price....and Robert prepares them elegantly. Patio area is nice for morning coffee and unwinding after a busy sightseeing day. Would definitely come back to this place again.
I have dreamed of going to Rome my entire life. I had the most amazing time and the main reason my visit was so special was because of our stay in this beautiful villa. From the moment we arrived we couldn't believe our good fortune. The location was incredible with a view of the Vatican wall built by Michelangelo. As we walked through the gate we were greeted by Gabrielle and her family who made us feel like part of the family. Our rooms were cozy with every comfort we could ask for. We are breakfast in the amazing dining room every morning and gas all kinds of pastry and toast and coffee and tea. One evening after a long day of sightseeing our host came in and asked if he could offer us anything? Maybe a glass of wine? I said that would be wonderful. He comes back with a bottle of champagne and we all sat and had a drink and he told us some of the best stories. I felt like Audrey Hepburn in 'Ronan holiday.' It was truly a memory I will treasure fur the rest of my life.
