After leaving the airport and catching a cab to the ferry port, you will speed past the busy hubub of Cancun on your way to the natural beauty, island serenity, and slower pace of life of Isla Mujeres. Just a few miles off the coast of Cancun across the turquoise waters of the channel, you will find the perfect spot for a wonderful vacation.
Villa Iguana overlooks the Mexican Caribbean. Your villa has a kitchen, and private porch with a hammock. Step through the archway and onto the sand! Two blocks from restaurants and shopping!
Once you get checked in you will find an island paradise full of opportunity. An Isla Mujeres vacation is more laid-back and relaxed than Cancun, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do. At only 4.5 miles long Isla Mujeres is a small island with activities for all ages. You can leisurely explore the island on foot, rent a golf cart or scooter to zip around, or borrow a bicycle. Visit the sea turtle sanctuary or the home of the pirate Mundaca. Talk a local fisherman into taking you deep sea fishing. Take a day at El Garrafon park which offers snorkeling, bicycling, a zip line over the ocean, soaking in an infinity pool, swimming with dolphins, along with an open bar, snacks, and a lunch buffet. Explore a full range of local food options from around the world: traditional tacos near the ballpark, Argentinian steaks, Thai food, fresh-caught seafood, and don’t miss the Mango Cafe’s coconut/almond french toast with fresh-squeezed mango juice. The island is full of opportunities for you to craft your perfect getaway.

My husband and I stayed at Villa Iguana recently and had a wonderful and relaxing stay. The apartment is very cute, the outside patio area is great and Marcella was very friendly and helpful and her little dogs are super cute! The bed was very comfortable, the place is very well furnished although a comfy chair would be a nice addition. They have chairs you can take to the beach and a great hammock. The music from the hostel next door is not really a problem at night with the windows closed and a.c. on, we slept like logs. Thanks Marcella, we had a great stay!
Wonderful apartment with wonderful on site owner. Marcella and her daughter are wonderful and eager to please. The music from the hostel does play until 3
AM however if you put on the AC barely noticeable. I hope to return to this apartment next year.
It was exactly what the pictures showed and Marcella was more than the pictures showed. she's way more than just helpful. delightful personality and she has a wonderful daughter. thanks Marcella for the great friendship you showed us. you have a beautiful piece of property that can only get better when all you plans on Carlos are finished. we loved Isa Mujeres and will go back. thanks again for the flowers and the beach chairs and the coconuts.
My family of 4 stayed at Villa Iguana for 2 weeks in July, This was my 3rd time on the island and truly feel that we had the best time staying at this villa compared to a condo and hotel. It was very private from the town and beaches, yet easily accessible through the gate to everything we needed. I have a walking disability, so I needed a place with easy access to the beach and town. Villa Iguana was perfect for my needs.
Great customer service is really an understatement when it came to how generous and helpful Marcela and Patrick were. They had great recommendations on restaurants, best snorkeling spots, and whale shark diving guides.
The Villa was very weIl maintained and clean. It had everything we needed to make meals with the groceries that we picked up from down the street. We also enjoyed the music from Pocna next door. We laid in the hammock on the porch and sipped our own drinks without dealing with the crowds. I did pop in ear plugs at bedtime to make it completely silent from the late night music, but my husband and small children (8 and 5) slept like logs. The music was more of a positive than a negative.
I would definitely recommend Villa Iguana to my friends and family. I can not wait to see the expansion the next time we make it to the island. I miss the island, Villa Iguana, and I miss my Mexican family. Muchas gracias.
This review is a bit late, but better than never! My husband and I stayed in Villa Iguana for 8 days in January 2014. This was our first visit to the island, and Villa Iguana was better than we expected! Patrick was very helpful before we arrived and Marcella assisted us with our every need upon arrival. Our flight arrived late so we did not make it to the villa until almost midnight. Marcella was waiting on us and even welcomed us with margaritas because she could tell how exhausted (and thirsty) we were. We left our bags and found our way to Hidalgo street where there were plenty of options for dinner still open. There was plenty of space for my husband and I. We felt very secure at the Villa, as you needed a key for entry. There was one other apartment plus Marcella's living quarters. The family did have several dogs but we rarely heard them bark. The linens and bath towels were better quality than we usually receive when traveling abroad. The bed was also very comfortable, which is unusual for Mexico. There was some confusion with the cleaning service at the beginning of the trip but once I brought it to Marcella's attention, she promptly had it taken care of. We had more than enough towels for the rest of the week and our bed linens were changed several times throughout the week. We prefer smaller accommodations that are more personal and low-key and Villa Iguana offered just that. The location is a quick walk (less than 5 minutes) to Hidalgo and Playa Norte. This property is considered "beachfront" but was not swimmable due to the current. Pocna is located across the street and the music does play loud until 2-3am. It is barely noticeable with the television or air conditioning on though. There is a safe for extra security. The only thing we felt lacking at the Villa was more space for clothing. There is a small desk with drawers for items but we did run out of space. There was a shelf in the bathroom to store some clothing but we had to stand on a stool to reach it. It would be helpful to have additional shelves built in the bedroom for items. We loved spending time outside in the hammock that was provided. We did not have telephone access while staying but Marcella was kind enough to call in a pizza and have it delivered for us one evening when we did not feel like going out. Overall, we did loved our stay and would definitely recommend to others.
My husband and I stayed almost one month at Villa Iguana. This is a very good value for your money. The appartment is well kept and cleaned. The bedroom is large with a AC and TV, bed very confortable. The bathroom has everything you need. Kitchen - living area is small - but again everthing we need. There is a nice bar counter outside : we took all our meals there while looking at the ocean. The linens and towells are changed every two days as well as the cleaning. The location is very convenient: 2 corners from the pedestrian street and steps from a small beach and the malecon. The owner Marcella is a lovely woman, she assisted us whenever we asked her. Yes the appartment is just front of the Pocna hotel where there is every night music. This did not impede our sleep: with the doors and windows closed and the AC on. We slept very well. There was a public concernt one night at the Pocna and yes the noise kept on awake - but I am sure that every one living in the streets around were kept awake!!
All delalings before our arival were easy and we got responses to our query within hours.
We did enjoy our stay, we do recommend it. Thank you Marcella !

There are many wonderful restaurants on Isla Mujeres and if you are a seafood lover you will be in heaven, the fish is as fresh as it gets! You'll find everything from traditional Mexican and Yucatan cuisine to Mediterranean, Italian, Asian, French and of course American. There is something for everyone on Isla.
Things to Do:
Isla Mujeres offers many activities to fill your days. Scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing, swim with the dolphins or sharks, visit the Turtle Farm and delight in these magnificent creatures! There are art galleries to visit, workshops to attend, massages to have, shops to browse through, tours to nearby wonders and the beautiful white sand beaches to enjoy.
Most people living and working on Isla speak a few words of English, many are fluent but it is greatly appreciated when visitors try to speak a little bit of Spanish, at the very least; hello (hola), good-bye (adiós), please (por favor) and thank you (gracias).
