My wife and I both grew up in southern,Michigan. We have 7 lovely children. We have enjoyed many vacations up at the 'Johnson's Lodge'. We are sure you will make many memories yourselves with your family and friends.
Scott Johnson purchased this cottage in 1999
I have belonged to a hunting camp in the area since I was 18 years old. I have always loved the surroundings, so I purchased the property in 1999 and completely renovated the entire home. We have renovated the home with all of the amenities of a year round home. We use it all seasons.
You can't beat the beautiful, scenic views out both the front and back door. We both work full time and love to go up north and forget everything and just enjoy the natural surroundings. It is very peaceful and quiet. Our children and us all enjoy fishing both off the dock, and on the lake. (the back pond also) We also enjoy swimming, going for walks, and just sitting out on the deck, watching for the Bald Eagle to land on a nearby tree at the point and listen for the call of the Loons. Very relaxing! If you like to go to town, there is nearby Hillman, with a lot of unique buildings and a nostalgic bridge with an adjacent park. Also, the beautiful town of Alpena is close by with a lot of cute shops, and unique restaurants. And of course, Makinaw City and Island are just an hour North. Ocqueoc Falls and the 'sink holes' are our favorite spots. You can be as busy or as relaxed as you want to be.
We just returned from our third visit this year. What a great place! The home is clean and comfortable with every amenity that you need. The owners are very accommodating. Our family loves the access to the miles and miles of ORV trails. We also have taken day trips to Mackinac and Alpena. We highly recommend this home for your getaway.
The cabin was wonderful! Extremely clean and updated. Linens, towels, paper products, everything was included which was nice not having to bring everything. The owners were amazing to deal with. Very helpful and detailed in explaining everything you needed to know about your trip. We brought our ATV's and could ride from the cabin to the trails. (Great trail system!) We will definitely stay there again!!!!
We had a great time at the cottage. The boys had fun taking out all the boats, and although we never saw a fish or even had a nibble, we had a good time fishing. The cottage has everything you need. We had a great campfire with smores, enjoyed the barbeque, and even watched a few of their classic movies. Everything was clean and fresh, and even the wife was impressed that I had made a good choice. LOL
The location is central to many norther MI destinations and we made day trips to Petoskey, Mackinaw, and Roger City/Alpena.
My family and I arrived to a clean, cozy, and inviting home. The house was better than described, and the view was second to none. The pond was perfect to take my sons fishing on, and the lake was also a wonderful fishing and swimming experience. I will definitely look to stay at this hidden gem anytime we head up north! Thank you for opening up your home to my family and I.
