Overview

Julian Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Private Luxurious Safari Tent in fenced compound with Hot Tub

Located in one of the most beautiful, least traveled areas of San Diego County, this unique accommodation was created by a artisan contractor couple with comfort and privacy in mind while offering a close to nature experience. It is a 16x20 fireproof safari tent on a 16 x 33' deck with handcrafted railings, furniture and details. The tent cabin has full kitchen designed for people who like to cook , a spacious bath with clawfoot tub, queen size bed with heated mattress, gas fireplace and deck that overlooks Oak Grove Valley. There is a small TV with DVD player and WIFI, ceiling fans inside and on the covered porch. New Hot tub on the deck as well as 2 chaise lounges and dining set for alfresco dining. The deck is designed to keep your pets in if you do not want them to have access to the yard area which is totally fenced with no-climb wire. It is suited for 2 people and is located on a private ranch in which the owners preside. Our motto is 'you won't see us unless you need us' and we value our guests privacy so we leave them alone unless needed. Pets are welcome but because of deck elevation, it is not suitable for young children.

The tent cabin opens to the outdoors at each end for views of the chaparral forest and can be closed during bad weather or evening. This exposure to nature has a wonderful relaxing effect and the japanese call it 'shinrin-yoku' which translates to 'forest bathing', or being surrounded by a forest environment. It may not seem like therapy but forest bathing has been shown to improve mental and physical health. Studies have documented reduced stress, lower blood sugar, better concentration, diminished pain, improved immunity and even anti-cancer effects.

The main draw to this area is it natural beauty, remoteness, privacy, abundant hiking and biking trails, leash free dog trails and winery's.

About Laurie Roberts

Lane and I are artists/craftsman/contractors who love nature, hiking, animals and working with our hands. We get a bang out of creating spaces, transforming ugly to beautiful and providing a place for people to unwind.

Laurie Roberts purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Laurie Roberts chose Julian

We looked for a long time to find a place that was semi remote that would be good setting for wilderness vacation rental and that had a fixer house on it. We found this 10 acres with adobe home built in the 40's, an old walnut grove and knew it was the one because of the beautiful view of the valley, it was surrounded by nature rather than neighborhood and it bordered on Cleveland National Forest land. We spent 2 years restoring/remodeling the house, putting in fruit trees and garden and in January 2013, came up with the safari tent concept as a vacation rental.

What makes this cabin unique

Total privacy, fenced compound for your dogs, gorgeous view and incredible night skies. The tent opens at each end during the day and close it at night. Surrounding yourself with nature and it's sounds have a very relaxing effect that you cannot get in a walled in structure. The Japanese call this 'shinrin-yoku' which translates to forest bathing, or being surrounded by a forest environment which has been shown to improve mental and physical health.

Amazing getaway from the world

  • 5 of 5

We had such a fantastic time here! The jacuzzi was great loved the claw foot tub and heated bed! Very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked everything you could need. It was the most relaxed we have EVER been. The view, the wind, the privacy it was all extremely peaceful. We didn't want to leave! Our stay was part of our honeymoon and we've already booked to go back next year for our anniversary! If you need a relaxing break from the world this is the place to go we can't wait for our next stay!

Heaven is at Ribbonwood!

  • 5 of 5

Oh what a slice of heaven! Ribbonwood is perhaps the most romantic place on earth...for those who love nature and unplugging from the rat race. We brought our two dogs and they quite possibly enjoyed it more than we did! We took a sky sail glider plane ride in Warner Springs and came back down to earth to this rustic, charming retreat. Every detail has been considered. We felt like we were on safari in Africa! I highly recommend an afternoon soaking in the old fashioned tub...Secluded and private...just what we needed. Can't stop thinking about it! Thank you and we'll be back!

Camp Ribbonwood was exceptional...for non-campers this rental is perfect. Our stay was relaxing and the surrounding area offers many activities. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay convenient and comfortable. We will definitely be doing glamping in the future.

A slice of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from a 2 night stay at this wonderful place! We had been to Temecula and Julian before, but never to this beautiful, quaint and quiet area right between the 2 touristy towns. The location at the top of a hill, overlooking the whole valley was spectacular, but the place itself was even more amazing. The owners really went above and beyond to create the ultimate, romantic getaway. We especially appreciated the fresh flowers in the cute bathroom, the custom made furnishings, the nice toiletries, heated mattress pad, the fresh herbs on the deck and the loads of fake candles which created the most wonderful atmosphere at night. The kitchen was stocked very well and even had lots of basic food items available. We had brought a little bit of food to tie us over for the first day, but did go "hunt for a grocery store" the 2nd day which was pretty far away and not well stocked at all, so I would definitely recommend you bring all the food you'll need with you. Besides: you are never going to want to have to leave for something as trivial as grocery shopping anyway! The first morning, we went for a little hike on the trail that runs right behind the house which was fun. Otherwise, we were just LAZY all day! Watched a couple of movies, read, sunbathed and spent quite a bit of time star gazing from the lovely hot tub at night. If you can, book at least 3 nights - I would have loved to stay an extra night. It really is the PERFECT place to relax, unwind and get away from your everyday stressful life. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Perfect Birthday Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredible stay at Camp Ribbonwood! I took my girlfriend for her birthday and she absolutely loved it. We had a tough time with the pizza oven, but other than that everything was perfect! Beautiful scenery, privacy, the hot tub was great and my girlfriend loved the claw foot tub. Lane was great at showing us around and we definitely want to come back again!
