Nice for two couples or small family

  • 5 of 5

This is a newly redone historic-age house (130 years old) in downtown Napa. A couple of things to highlight:

Easily walkable to the downtown Napa:

* 2 blocks to the nearest Starbucks

* Maybe 4 blocks to "BIscuits" -- a nice (albeit slow) breakfast & lunch joint

* About 8 blocks to the center of downtown, with a plethora of restaurants, cafes, wine tasting rooms, and boutique stores

By car:

* Being toward the south end of Napa valley, this is relatively quick to get to from SF

* Quick access from the home onto the Silverado Trail (which is the most convenient way to get to wineries, since 29 is a parking lot on weekends)

* Centrally located in Napa for groceries, general stores, etc.

The unit:

* Recently redone, old house. Tastefully finished. Wood and tile floors throughout.

* Nice open living area (kitchen, living room) with lots of counter space including a breakfast bar area.

* Only one bathroom.

* Washer and dryer off the kitchen.

* Handy blow-up extra mattress.

* Wonderful porch. Enjoyed many an hour sitting out enjoying the July 4 fireworks, a glass or two of wine, guitar, etc.

Owners:

* We met the owners on the first day. They own a number of properties in the area that they are personally involved with (e.g. rebuilding older houses).

* Very helpful with tips on the area, activities for kids, etc.

* Their hospitality really made the stay more enjoyable.

Local tips:

* Strawberry farm stand a mile or two up Silverado trail on the left. I've seen this place 25 times but never stopped until this visit. Holy cow! Best strawberries I've had since I was a kid and my neighbor grew them and we'd pick them fresh!

* Oxbow Public Market - walkable or 3 minute car ride. Not really a market as much as a bunch of high end little shops stuffed into a building. But the fruit and fresh veggies were very good (and very pricey), the cheese was amazing, the pizza was great, etc.

* Biscuits. Restaurant. Just google for Napa Biscuits. 30 minute wait for simple breakfast items, but they're good. Not cheap, but good.

Overall, a nice few days in Napa with the family. Pleasant and helpful owners. Cute house -- cute in a way only an older house can be. Nicely equipped.

Wonderful!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is lovely. The owner was there to meet us when we arrives with champagne. She was willing to give us her recommendations on everything from wineries to visit to places to eat and even where the best coffee was. She was always just a text away if we needed anything. The property was equiped with everything we would need and then some.

We would 100% stay again on another trip to the valley!!

Perfect!!

Great central location to wineries plus walking distance to many restaurants in town. Rental comes with bikes which were fun to stroll around town in. House is beautifully furnished, cottage charm with modern amenities. Caryn is the perfect hostess!

Lovely little cottage

  • 5 of 5

The owner has decorated this accomodating cottage with whimsy and vintage charm. She was modest when I asked about it's Amenities (coffee? Towels? etc.) but the place was truly well stocked and had even a couple things I forgot to pack- champagne glasses! Q tips!) we loved our stay- the only improvement would be a couple bikes to get to the better cafes downtown....

Beautiful home! / Great location!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this property for 6 nights with one other couple and could not have been happier!

The house itself is beautiful. Everything is updated, modern, and very clean. The kitchen is stocked with anything you could possibly need, and there was plenty of room for the four of us to relax in the morning or hang out before heading downtown for dinner.

The owner was also extremely helpful and responsive. Any questions we had were answered almost immediately. The owner also had an excellent knowledge of the area and pointed us in the direction of some great wineries, restaurants, and bars.

The location for this property is also excellent. It is about .5 mile to the downtown restaurant scene (which has more excellent restaurants than you can visit in a week). You can easily walk to the town center, or take one of the 4 beach cruiser bikes the owner provides. If it is a bit cold, or you are dressed up and don't want to walk, it is only a $5-$6 taxi ride. As far as wineries, you can get to Calistoga (the furthest north in the valley) in about 35 minutes, but there are more than enough options within 15 minutes of the house. Also, being downtown, you can check out some of the tasting rooms if you don't feel like driving one day.

We loved every restaurant, but some that stood out were Oenotri, Torc, Ristorante Allegria, and La Taberna (tapas). Some of our favorite wineries were Rutherford Ranch, Sterling, and Quixote, but we didn't find any we disliked, so pick a few in the morning and enjoy!

Overall, our stay was excellent and I would certainly recommend this property to anyone!

Amazing Stay!

  • 5 of 5

I was incredibly happy with my stay at this property! The house/s are fully refurbished with extremely comfortable furniture and they include fully stocked kitchens. Wine country is incredibly easy to get to if you grab a rental car and it’s in close proximity to lots of grocery stores in downtown Napa. The host was a pleasure to get to know as well!
