Nice for two couples or small family

  • 5 of 5

This is a newly redone historic-age house (130 years old) in downtown Napa. A couple of things to highlight:

Easily walkable to the downtown Napa:

* 2 blocks to the nearest Starbucks

* Maybe 4 blocks to "BIscuits" -- a nice (albeit slow) breakfast & lunch joint

* About 8 blocks to the center of downtown, with a plethora of restaurants, cafes, wine tasting rooms, and boutique stores

By car:

* Being toward the south end of Napa valley, this is relatively quick to get to from SF

* Quick access from the home onto the Silverado Trail (which is the most convenient way to get to wineries, since 29 is a parking lot on weekends)

* Centrally located in Napa for groceries, general stores, etc.

The unit:

* Recently redone, old house. Tastefully finished. Wood and tile floors throughout.

* Nice open living area (kitchen, living room) with lots of counter space including a breakfast bar area.

* Only one bathroom.

* Washer and dryer off the kitchen.

* Handy blow-up extra mattress.

* Wonderful porch. Enjoyed many an hour sitting out enjoying the July 4 fireworks, a glass or two of wine, guitar, etc.

Owners:

* We met the owners on the first day. They own a number of properties in the area that they are personally involved with (e.g. rebuilding older houses).

* Very helpful with tips on the area, activities for kids, etc.

* Their hospitality really made the stay more enjoyable.

Local tips:

* Strawberry farm stand a mile or two up Silverado trail on the left. I've seen this place 25 times but never stopped until this visit. Holy cow! Best strawberries I've had since I was a kid and my neighbor grew them and we'd pick them fresh!

* Oxbow Public Market - walkable or 3 minute car ride. Not really a market as much as a bunch of high end little shops stuffed into a building. But the fruit and fresh veggies were very good (and very pricey), the cheese was amazing, the pizza was great, etc.

* Biscuits. Restaurant. Just google for Napa Biscuits. 30 minute wait for simple breakfast items, but they're good. Not cheap, but good.

Overall, a nice few days in Napa with the family. Pleasant and helpful owners. Cute house -- cute in a way only an older house can be. Nicely equipped.

The Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

My sister, best friend and I stayed in this cottage for three nights while vacationing in Napa. It was absolutely perfect. While we were planning our trip the owner did an amazing job of providing us with detailed tips and suggestions for ways to maximize our time and truly get the most out of Napa Valley. When we arrived she met us at the property with a smile and champagne. She is extremely personable and easy to get along with. The cottage was exactly as it appeared in the pictures. Meticulously clean, well furnished and stocked with all of the necessities. It's obvious that the owner took great care to ensure that the space was inviting. It was exactly enough space for the three of us and having such a spacious and well-appointed kitchen was perfect for when my friend insisted on cooking dinner one night. The property is also centrally located. If you are in Napa for wineries, I would highly recommend starting your trip with the George Hendry winery tour as its very informative and I would also recommend visiting the Schramsberg winery (sparkling). To be honest, although the property was absolutely fantastic, what really made our trip perfect was our interaction with the owner. She took a genuine interest in us and seemed to make it her goal to ensure that we were tell taken care of. She made us feel like locals within thirty minutes of our arrival (she has excellent taste in wine and food!). This was our first time using a service like Homeaway to find a place to stay while we traveled, so we felt weary going into the process. However, it was an extremely easy and secure process due to the owner's responsiveness and helpfulness. After our experience with her, I don't think any of us will ever want to stay in a hotel again. If you are planning a trip to Napa, I would highly recommend staying at this property. I hope that I have the opportunity to stay here again in the near future.

Can't wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this property was wonderful. The home was clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay... towels, kitchen and bathroom essentials, etc. The linens for the bed were so soft and the bed was probably the most comfortable I've slept in as compared to other rentals. Our host provided us with chilled glasses and champagne upon arrival, and she was warm and friendly. We had little trouble figuring out the thermostat, and she had one of her guys out there to get it working right away. The property is just a few minutes drive to downtown Napa... we tried a couple different Italian restaurants that were only 1/2 mile away. Target/large shopping center is a short 5 minute drive away. We would definitely stay here again. Our only regret... we couldn't stay longer!

Above expectations!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect for our group two couples and 2 kids. It was clean and beautifully decorated. The landscaping was amazing as well. The owner made us feel right at home and went out of her way to make us feel welcome and even helped us plan our Napa Wine tour with her knowledge of the area. A bonus I wasn't expecting and greatly appreciated since I didn't do my homework ahead of time. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Beautiful, comfortable, and convenient

  • 5 of 5

My 7 friends and I rented the upstairs and downstairs units of this duplex for a weekend bachelorette party. Both units were immaculately cleaned, from floors to bathrooms to linens. On top of providing the basic necessities one might expect like a full kitchen or ample towels, the units were well-equipped with all the little extras. For example: washer & dryer, gas grill, plentiful outdoor furniture, shampoo and conditioner, olive oil, spices, air mattresses, spacious parking, ceiling fans, high quality mattresses and pillows, etc.

We walked to town several times, even in high heels. It is a short (10 min) and pretty walk through a residential area.

The owner of the duplex was attentive to all of our questions as early as 4 months before our arrival. She had cold prosecco waiting for us, and she was very accommodating with logistical matters like key hand-offs. She also gave terrific winery and nightlife recommendations.

I'd recommend these units to friend or family in a heartbeat.

Amazing cottage, amazing owner!/

  • 5 of 5

This amazing cottage and its owner are the reason I would prefer to never stay at a 'regular hotel' again!

Upon arrival we were greeted with champagne and the owner helped us plan all three days we were in Napa, when we decided last minute to try something other than a vineyard tour, she suggested a drive out to the coast and Bodega Bay, as we were getting into the car for out little road trip she ran up and brought me a big jacket and scarf to borrow because she knew I would get cold with the coast winds. She went above and beyond at every turn. Its a million more little reasons why I cried when it was time to leave....but this home and its owner were most definitely most of them!!
