Harrisonburg Cabin Rental Photos and Description
Real Cabin. 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, 1 Pullout couch in living room
Please read the entire description for this cabin. This is a 100 year old cabin and is rustic and quaint, but it is not perfect. This is a real 100 year old cabin that borders the national forest, not new construction. We like this cabin because staying here is like walking back in time to a different era. You can stay at one of the many new construction vacation rentals in the Shenandoah Valley, but Bear Ridge Cabin has history and character. This is one thing that sets Bear Ridge Cabin apart. If you read the description you will know what to expect. We also believe that service is another thing that sets us apart in the vacation rental industry. Katie & I personally own every cabin that we manage. We check-in all of our guests personally (sometimes even as late as 2 in the morning). When you arrive, the lights will be on and you will be welcomed and shown around the cabin, unlike most other rentals where you access a lock box and walk into a dark cold house. We are always available. We live right here on the mountain and we really mean it when we say that we are always available. If you need us at 4 am or have a problem, please do not ever hesitate to let us know. This is all we do 24/7 and we want all of our guests to have an amazing stay. We would be honored if you allow us the opportunity to serve you.
HOMEAWAY HAS CHANGED THEIR DEFAULT SETTINGS AND THE WEBSITE NOW CHARGES FOR KIDS THROUGH THE BOOK IT NOW OPTION. WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR KIDS UNDER 18. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BOOK THROUGH THE BOOK IT NOW BUTTON, JUST PUT THE NUMBER OF ADULTS. ADD A NOTE OF HOW MANY KIDS THERE ARE IN THE NOTES/MESSAGE SECTION AND WE WILL CHANGE IT IN THE RESERVATION. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO BOOK IT YOURSELF AND NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE KIDS. :)
Bear Ridge Cabin is a 100 year old real cabin that sits on a ridge above Rawley Springs. There is direct access to the George Washington National Forest within a couple of minutes right out the door of the cabin and we own all of the land between the cabin and the national forest. There are two rivers (one is small enough that you might call it a stream) that are about a 5-10 minute walk from the cabin. They both contain native Trout and one of them is stocked with Trout as well. Dry River (it never actually dries up) is one of the best Trout fishing rivers on the east coast.
There are several trails that are within walking distance of the national forest where hiking and mountain biking are allowed. One goes up into the mountains and the other is mostly level and follows the river for about 45 minutes and then heads up into the mountains.
There are also numerous hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and ATV trails within driving distance of the cabin.
The cabin has two bedrooms. The first has a queen size bed and the second has a full size bed. The bedrooms are not very large, but they are quaint and cozy. The nice sized living room with the original real stone, wood burning fireplace is a great place to gather with friends or sit and read when the weather turns colder. There is one bathroom with an older (1990's era) sit down shower. The kitchen has all newer stainless steel appliances, including a gas stove top. There is also a deck with two grills, one is charcoal and the other propane. Guests are welcome to use either, but must bring their own charcoal or propane. The screen porch is nice sized and has two older couches and a chair as well as a table with seating for 5.
There is a queen size pull out couch in the living room and then another one one the screen porch. The pull out couch on the screen porch is older and not very comfortable, but it is an amazing place to sleep when the weather suits.
In the warmer months there is a floor model A/C unit that will cool down the cabin nicely. In the Winter there are several smaller heaters throughout the cabin that are able to keep the cabin warm enough even when the temperature drops below zero. We've had guests stay when it was -6 degrees and still be warm. There is also a propane wall mount heater if needed and the wood burning fireplace can really warm up the cabin on cold days. The cabin windows are custom and made of real wood and they are very old and therefore there are no screens for them. We would also like to replace the three screen doors soon as well whereas they are older.
Pets are welcome but we do require a pet fee when pets stay at the cabin.
On clear nights, you can see thousands of stars overhead. It is a beautiful sight. Also during the spring and summer months, you can see humming birds everywhere. We place feeders off the front porch of the house and have personally seen upwards of 20 birds feeding on them at one time in the area.
Checking is 4:00 pm and checkout is 11 am.
Pets are welcome at all of our properties. If you or someone in your group is allergic to pets or anything else (detergent, air fresheners, etc), please let us know in advance so we can discuss this prior to your booking and then also prior to your arrival.

About Katie & Steven Robert Jones
We came to Virginia from Texas so I (Steven) could finish my college degree, but got into the vacation rental business by accident. :) We have three daughters under the age of 5. We have 8 rescue dogs, 2 rescue cats, 2 ponies, 8 goats & about 50 chickens.
We believe service is what sets us apart in the vacation rental industry. Katie & I personally own every cabin that we manage. We check-in all of our guests personally (sometimes even as late as 2 or 3 in the morning). When you arrive, the lights will be on and you will be welcomed and shown around the cabin, unlike most other rentals where you access a lock box and walk into a dark cold house. If it is Winter time and you let us know in advance that you want a fire, we'll even have a real wood burning fire going for you. We are always available. We live right here on the mountain and we really mean it when we say that we are always available. If you need us at 4 am or have a problem, please do not ever hesitate to let us know. This is all we do 24/7 and we want all of our guests to have an amazing stay. We would be honored if you would allow us the opportunity to serve you.

Why Katie & Steven Robert Jones chose Harrisonburg
This cabin was very close to our cabins and also came with 8 acres of land that bordered the George Washington National Forest so it was a perfect fit with our other cabins.
What makes this cabin unique
This cabin feels very private and even has a natural spring fed pond on it complete with lots of tadpoles in Spring. Whippoorwills are very common in the Spring to early Summer months as are Hummingbirds. Also, there are 3 hiking trails within walking distance of the cabin and numerous others within a very short drive of the cabin.
