KIDS STAY FREE! 100 YEAR OLD REAL CABIN BORDERS NAT'L FOREST WALK TO THE TRAILS

Harrisonburg Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Real Cabin. 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, 1 Pullout couch in living room

HOMEAWAY HAS CHANGED THEIR POLICIES: KIDS ARE NOW BEING CHARGED THROUGH THE BOOK IT NOW OPTION. WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR KIDS UNDER 18. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BOOK THROUGH THE BOOK IT NOW, JUST PUT THE NUMBER OF ADULTS. ADD A NOTE OF HOW MANY KIDS THERE ARE AND WE WILL CHANGE IT IN THE RESERVATION. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO BOOK IT YOURSELF AND NOT HAVE THE EXTRA FEES.

Bear Ridge Cabin sits on a ridge above Rawley Springs. There is direct access to the George Washington National Forest within a couple of minutes right out the door of the cabin. There are two rivers (one is small enough that you might cal it a stream) that are about a 5-10 minute walk from the cabin. They are both contain Native Trout and one of them is stocked with Trout as well. Dry River (never actually dries up) is one of the best Trout fishing rivers on the east coast.

There are two bedrooms, a large living room with a stone fireplace and one bathroom, plus an updated kitchen with all stainless steel appliances and a deck and screen porch.

There is a pull out bed in the living room and then another one one the screen porch. The one on the screen porch is older.

Pets are welcome but we do require a pet fee when pets stay at the cabin.

On clear nights, you can see thousands of stars overhead. It is a beautiful sight. Also during the spring and summer months, you can see humming birds everywhere. We place feeders off the front porch of the house and have personally seen upwards of 20 birds feeding on them at one time in the area.

Checking is 4:00 pm and checkout is 11 am.

Pets are welcome at all of our properties. If you or someone in your group is allergic to pets or anything else (detergent, air fresheners, etc), please let us know in advance so we can discuss this prior to your booking and then also prior to your arrival.

About Katie & Steven Robert Jones

We moved from Texas for me (Steven) to complete my college degree and wound up starting a vacation rental business almost by accident. As of September 2013 we have 9 cabins ready to rent.

Katie & Steven Robert Jones purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Katie & Steven Robert Jones chose Harrisonburg

This cabin was very close to our cabins and also came with 8 acres of land that bordered the George Washington National Forest so it was a perfect fit with our other cabins.

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin feels very private and even has a natural spring fed pond on it complete with lots of tadpoles in Spring. Whippoorwills are very common in the Spring to early Summer months as are Hummingbirds. Also, there are 3 hiking trails within walking distance of the cabin and numerous others within a very short drive of the cabin.

Awesome getaway

  • 5 of 5
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bear Ridge! The cabin was clean and homey. It was a much needed getaway for relaxation. The mountains and quaint location of this lovely cabin allowed for just that! Many thanks to the owners as well. You all were extremely nice and hospitable. The walk to the "bathtub" swimming area was a fun adventure. Thanks for the tip! I enjoyed the fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning as well provided by the owners from their chickens. Will definitely be back for a return visit. There were a few near by geocaches as well! Thanks again for a delightful stay.

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5
This is a lovely cabin that is well maintained. Everything is there including a washer-dryer combo and all kitchen appliances both small and large.
Only room for improvement that I could see was a need for more table/floor lamps. Although the overhead lighting lit up the all wood interior nicely, there needs to be more than one lamp in the main living area for doing reading, writing or puzzles.

Beautiful Spring Retreat

  • 5 of 5
Bear Ridge is in a great getaway location in the heart of the Virginia countryside, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of major cities, but accessible enough that made our drive from eastern PA with four kids enjoyable. The property itself is lovely - the cabin sits above other nearby cabins in beautiful Rawley Springs to provide privacy, and the large screened-in deck and outside patios offer a great view of the surrounding hillsides. The natural ambiance is heightened by the rushing sounds of the stream below, the buzzing of hummingbirds and the occasional nearby woodpecker.

Our boys had a tremendous time exploring the woods, hiking trails, fishing, helping to build the fire, and visiting Katie and Steven's animals (goats and ponies!) They did not want to leave! Katie and Steven have ensured that the cabin is appointed with rustic charm and modern amenities for a relaxing stay. They were very accommodating hosts - going out of their way to answer questions and making sure that we felt comfortable during our visit. Would highly recommend renting from these genuinely good-hearted people who go the distance to provide great service.

We had an amazing stay at this cabin!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the cabin for 3 nights and could not have asked for a better stay. The property was even more beautiful than in the pictures, and the cabin was immaculately maintained! Katie and Steven were gracious hosts and provided a level of hospitality that I had never before experienced. We will definitely be back!

Cozy and Comfortable- Perfectly Away from it All!

  • 5 of 5
We had such a wonderful stay at the Bear Ridge Cabin! The owners are so friendly and helpful and the cabin is nice and well sized. The fireplace and kitchen were superb and allowed us to have such a relaxing stay. Loved the farm fresh eggs in the fridge and being able to visit their ponies, goats, chickens, and dogs. The trails are also lovely for walking. I hope to be back some day!
