A small haven of peace in downtown Paris.
This apartment was exactly as described and met our needs perfectly. As others have mentioned the three flights of stairs could be a problem for some people (especially with your luggage) and the streets are quite noisy at night (particularly on the weekend); however we expected that and enjoyed the apartment. The location near the metro and steps away from the beautiful Montmartre area was perfect.
The big problem was a lack of coordination from the owners. We were given a code for the gate and told that someone would meet us upon our arrival and would then plan for our departure. Getting through the gate with the code worked fine; however after the gate there are two doors which lead to two different buildings and each with another code. We were never told which door to take and didn't have the second code? Luckily for us a man left the building about 5 minutes later and told us that the apartment for rent was through that door on the top floor.
Once on the top floor we were told that it was the apartment on the right. No answer, so we sit down and wait for someone to show up. After about 30 minutes three cleaning ladies emerge from the apartment on the left and see us, they then offer me a set of keys. I check inside the apartment and indeed it turns out to be the apartment on the left... not right. I'm trying to communicate with the cleaning ladies to get some info about our departure and the balance of Euros which we owed upon arrival but not one of the three speak French or English! They only spoke an Asian language which I do not! One of the ladies finally calls someone on her cell phone and hands it to me. This person turns out to be the woman who was supposed to meet us and tells me to leave the Euros with the cleaning ladies and that all instructions will be on the counter inside. When I go to give the cleaning lady the money she doesn't want to take it and still doesn't understand. She finally calls back the woman and is explained that she must take the money.
Basically one of the most complicated check-ins I've ever experienced... and all this after being awake for more than 24 hours with the flight and all. I contacted the same woman more than once during our stay to try and plan our check-out and only heard back on the last day telling us to leave the keys on the counter and close the door. So basically we never met or saw any one of the owners.
After all that, as I said, the apartment was nice.
My sister and I spent 5 nights at this apartment and were very pleased. Deborah was very responsive and helpful. The bedding was very comfortable and the bathroom was larger than many in the city. The apartment is quite secure - a code for the gate and then another to enter the building. The stairs were not a problem for us but could be for others. There is street noise but that is to be expected in such a lively area and wasn't an issue.
The location is fantastic! Less than 5 minutes to the Monoprix grocery and the Blanche metro stop. There are great restaurants and bistros just up the street! A simple way to get to the apartment from CDG airport is to take the train to Gare du Nord and the metro to Blanche. It is 11 euro and quite simple! We would definitely recommend and stay again!
We thoroughly recommend this lovely apartment in a vibrant area. The apartment is very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Washer/drier works well. Apartment is bright and airy and we loved sitting with the windows open listening to the Parisian hustle and bustle below. Noise at night was not a concern when the windows were closed. The area is vibrant and although very near the Moulin Rouge etc we felt totally safe returning at night with our 14 year old daughter. Metro is so convenient, less than 2 minutes walk. Apartment is very secure. Amenities for groceries were excellent, and the lovely cafes along Rue Lepic a few minutes walk away. Owner was very helpful and quick to respond to all questions. We had a fantastic stay in Paris and would certainly return to this apartment again.
Over all very good experience, safe location and very conveniently located. I had a last minute situation and needed to extend my stay and they were very accommodating and friendly vs. other's I had inquired about. I will most likely stay here again in the future and appreciate Deborah's help with weekend check in and late checkouts!
Thank you so much!
Thank so much for giving me the opportunity to discover Paris like I did. Your apartment is marvelous and you have done a great job with the design. Being a non-gay male, this is really a great job :) I have to say the location of the flat is really cool, with Montmartre on one side and Opera on the other, this really makes it a tremendous place to stay (day and night)!
I sincerely recommend this gorgeous apartment for anyone who wants to discover Paris.
Thanks! I'll come again.
We stayed for 4 days in this flat with my future-wife (we are from Munich). It is very clean, nicely decorated, well equipped and furnished. Owners are easily reachable and very helpful.
We found the location ( Pigale District) to be very convenient as it half way between city center (Louvre, Motre Dame..) and Montmarte (north). Pigale district is quite interesting because it makes you feel like a real "Parisien". it's the place to be for hipsters and yuppies ( real Parisiens don't go to Notre Dame very often!)
Thank you Cedric!
