LOCATION & PRIVACY

We put great thought into creating a special Austin oasis at Casa SoCo. You are literally steps away from two of the hippest streets in town — South Congress & South 1st -- and a long walk or quick cab to downtown. But you are also hidden, on a quiet, dead-end street with loads of privacy and plenty of secure, off – street parking (a rarity in this hood).

Casa SoCo has an open living space that flows into the kitchen; there is plenty of space to move. You'll oooh and ahhh over the brand new Big Chill aqua fridge and enjoy the well-stocked kitchen with a Frigidaire gas stove, dishwasher, microwave and wine fridge.

Every room has fabulous windows and the natural light in Casa SoCo is superb.

The master bedroom has an incredibly comfortable King size bed with silky soft (but cool) bamboo linens. The bed has a Serta pillowtop mattress that is firm throughout but plush). The master includes a glassed-in rain shower, sink and toilet. A vanity with seating and mirror is also in the master, along with a full closet and dresser.

We provide shampoo, conditioner, lotion, picnic supplies, extra towels, lots of odds & ends

The 2nd bedroom has a Queen size bed, bamboo linens, dresser and full closet.

The 3rd bedroom is set up for two — adults who want to sleep in separate beds, or kids. There are two brand new, comfy twin beds, same lux linens and a full size closet and dresser. A box of toys and children's books are stocked here as well.

The 2nd & 3rd bedroom share a large bathroom with a full size bathtub/shower and sink.

The 4th bedroom/study has a convertible bed. The back wall is all window — looking out to the private patio. This is a fantastic place to work with a built in desk. It’s also a nice little hide-out that would be completely comfortable to sleep in. Curtains can be drawn for privacy. A mirror and dresser is in the room, along with hooks to hang clothing. Please note, this room is best suited for fully able-bodied people -- when the bed is pulled out to a King size, there is less room to move around.

Our back patio is an ideal place to enjoy a bottle of wine and dinner. Casa SoCo has plenty of outdoor seating and is a perfect place to chill with your family or friends staying at Casa SoCo. Please note, this is a place for private get togethers with no more than 6 unrelated adults. This is not a party house.

About Ashley de Jong

Ashley is a native Austinite. She is all Austin — “different from the rest of Texas” — but knows Texas-friendly hospitality like no one else. Ashley is a public policy guru, people problem solver and philanthropist (and mom).

Frank is a native of Holland, grew up in Canada and has been an ex-pat all over Asia, Europe and the Middle East, working for the same global corporation since he completed his engineering degree (and a dad).

We would absolutely love to share our beloved city with you with as much personalized service as you like.

Ashley de Jong purchased this house in 2013

Why Ashley de Jong chose Austin

This is Ashley's adult dream home in her favorite neighborhood where she lived pre-kids. The area is eclectic, walkable, friendly, artistic and close to everything you want to see in Austin. The shops and restaurants are of very high quality and all of it is local.

When we saw the house itself we fell in love with the amazing tree, the natural light and the warm feel of the place. Casa SoCo has a very special vibe.

What makes this house unique

Location & Privacy:

One of the first things you’ll notice is how private Casa SoCo is, even though it is right in the middle of everything. You are two blocks from South Congress and one block from South 1st. These two avenues are filled with fabulous restaurants, excellent shopping, great bars and spectacular people watching. This is an all-local slice of life.

You can easily walk or bike to most points of interest. Downtown is “down the hill” of Congress. You can cross over the bridge (after you see the Austin bats fly out at dusk), admire Lake Lady Bird and then you’re in the 2nd St District. Just a few blocks further is 6th Street. Our city jewel, Zilker Park, (home of ACL Fest and much more) is also nearby and quickly approached heading down South 1st.

You can easily get a cab as well. Or if you are driving, there is easy access to both I-35 (to Formula 1) and Mopac. We have a private, paved driveway providing secure parking for 2-3 cars. Most of Casa SoCo is surrounded by a serene concrete fence and the entire home is sheltered by an enormous oak tree. Our tree itself is a work of art!

Comfort:

We’ve furnished Casa SoCo with comfort and beauty in mind. We have everything you need for a home away from home. Families who are relocating will find Casa SoCo an unbelievable alternative to a crummy, overpriced furnished apartment. Those traveling to Austin for work, whether short term or for an extended stay will love the peace and ease of being in the heart of the city without the anytown, USA feel. Of course, when your purpose is just pleasure and soaking in Austin, couples, friends & families will love Casa SoCo!

Local

Casa SoCo is owned and operated by Ashley & Frank de Jong. We live in Austin and are always a phone call away. We are licensed and registered with the City.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Loved our stay here. Everything was perfect and it was clear that a lot of love went into the house (so cute!) Appreciated the little touches (bubbly when we arrived, note on chalkboard, check-ins, etc) Thank you for making this such a wonderful vacation!

Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at Casa Soco for a girls weekend in January and had a great time. House was big enough for 7 of us and in a perfect location for all we wanted to do. Walking distance to the shops and restaurants on South Congress, running/biking distance to Zilker park, and a quick Uber downtown. Ash was extremely accommodating and allowed us into the house early and to stay a little later on check out. Overall, a fabulous experience!

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great family Thanksgiving week at this house. It was spacious enough for 7 of us to comfortably hang out. Ashley and Frank were very attentive hosts. Best of all was the convenient location to all the fun stuff on South Congress and First Street - an easy walk or bike ride. We will rent this house again if we come to Austin with a group.

Fabulous layout for a big group

  • 5 of 5

This is a very comfortable home in a cool part of Austin. Our group of 8 had plenty of room to sleep, eat, etc. The sleeping arrangements work well, even in the "office" bedroom. The hall bath is convenient for multiple people to use and the master bath has a nice rain shower. There are plenty of robes for everyone, which is a nice touch, and there are extras of everything (chairs, for example) so that no one in your party feels like they drew the short stick. The house is stocked with lots of things you might use (lime squeezer, re-useable grocery bags) but don't think about in advance. We walked to numerous places, and enjoyed the convenience of being near downtown. The one drawback was that the bedrooms were not a consistent temperature at night. This is probably from closing the bedroom doors, which prevents the return air from circulating properly. This is easily overcome by opening windows and/or using some of the extra blankets provided. I would definitely rent this home again the next time I am in town.

Didn't want to leave the house!

  • 5 of 5

I am originally from the Austin area and love to visit my friends, family, old stomping grounds and new places. This was our first time renting a house in Austin and we didn't want to leave. Not just Austin but the house! Even the out of town family who stayed with us enjoyed the house and patio so much we just wanted to relax there!! So beautiful, so comfortable... We couldn't have enjoyed it more!

Lovely funky home, fantastic hostess!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 4 nights at Casa SoCo for ACL - 2 couples and 2 singles. The 4 bedroom house was a perfect set up for our group. House was clean and had all of the amenities we needed. Loved having bicycles at the house to ride all around town. Loved the little touches like bathrobes, water and glasses in each bedroom, and a welcome bottle of wine. Ashley was so helpful every step of the way and was a gracious owner. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Amazing house in an amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

We recently traveled to Austin with a group of friends and absolutely loved every single minute of our stay in the SoCo house! The house is perfectly located just a few blocks from all of the action on South Congress but is tucked away on a nice and quiet little street so you have plenty of privacy in the evenings and don't have to worry about noise at night. Ashley, the owner of the property, goes above and beyond to make sure that the home is fully stocked with everything guests could possible need plus more. The fire pit in the front yard is an awesome place to hang out with your group and having the bikes is a huge bonus for anyone who feels like being a little bit more adventurous. All of bedrooms are beautifully decorated and we really appreciated Ashley's book of restaurant, bar and activity suggestions. I honestly could not have asked for a better experience and would recommend the SoCo house to anyone that is planning a trip to Austin!
