The best of everything: just a few minutes to the bustle of town, but at home, relax with peace, quiet and panoramic mountain views. This four bedroom, four bath house offers lots of flexible and open spaces to accommodate your needs - each of the home's two expansive levels has all the amenities! Each level has a separate entrance, two bedrooms and two baths, open living/dining areas, and full kitchens, as well as separate and private full decks with panoramic views. Perfect for a big family or couples traveling together. The home's levels are connected by an internal stairway as well as an external stairway off of the decks, and give you the flexibility to have as much (or little) flexibility as you need!
Three bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms (the master bathroom has a massive vessel tub with mountain views and separate shower) and queen beds. Third bedroom has two twin beds next door to common bathroom with shower. If needed, there is a full sized futon in the second level living room with plenty of additional spaces for cots or sleeping bags.
Gorgeous open chef's kitchen on the main level, fully remodeled with stainless steel appliances, granite counters and top of the line cookware. The kitchen opens to the living and dining space, with full mountaintop views from every vantage point. Relax with friends and family on the full decks off each floor (with panoramic mountain views, of course).
If you visit during the fall months, enjoy spectacular foliage and warm up by the indoor and outdoor gas fireplaces. A perfect retreat for every season, with plenty of space and privacy.

Our family lives in Highlands year round and is available to answer any questions or provide advice about the amazing resources Highlands has to offer. We love walking to Buck's coffee shop in town in the morning or getting breakfast at the Pharmacy- yes you can have breakfast with the locals while you watch them fill your Rx!
This rental best suits an older couple or two. It's not kid-friendly because of the numerous glass tabletops, mirrors, crystal bowls, fragile lamps and porcelain doodads throughout. Dining tables are fine furniture that can be easily damaged. Upstairs is formal furniture with lovely upholstery and Oriental rugs that again, can be easily stained.
House is not a 3 bedroom home. One bedroom is an office with no bed. The basement living area has a futon, but is not a bedroom.
Cleanliness/maintenance were inconsistent. Linens were not in good shape. Twin bedrooms sheets were stained with rust and red paint. Upstairs master sheets were thin, threadbare and pilled. Many of the pillows were dirty, including several in the downstairs rooms that had bloodstains on them, which we did not notice until leaving. Kitchen had dirty bowls and mugs with dried coffee (?), other splashes and stickers in them. 1 lamp was broken, 2 were missing bulbs. The upstairs master bedroom reeked of perfume and was unlivable for the entire week to the people with asthma in our group. A number of windows were broken, either missing/damaged screens, or simply the mechanism to open and close the window was completely broken.
The ipod was not working. After 30 minutes of play in the speakers, it froze and would not work.
New washer and dryer worked very well. View was nice, but traffic on the highway below was disruptive.
Listing should be corrected.
My daughter and I, my parents and younger sister were treated to a lovely vacation in this home by my other sister who has a real knack for finding those very special places for family gatherings. Once again she did not disappoint! The home is lovely, spacious and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is very well equipped with the finest dishes, utensils, pots, pans and accessories if you love to cook. The pictures do not do justice to the wide open feel of the kitchen, family and dining room area or the large comfortably furnished deck where we shared the majority of our meals while enjoying totally unobstructed and breathtaking views. Another nice feature was the privacy of the downstairs with its totally seperate family room, kitchen, bedrooms and baths. The house was ideal for the 6 of us and could accomodate 8 comfortably if curtains are added in the office. I would highly recommend this property and would love to return to enjoy it again in the future!
I am delinquent posting this review, but my family stayed in this house in July (2011)--my parents, two adult sisters, a niece, and me--and we loved it. We needed a house where my parents did not have to navigate stairs, and could still enjoy the main living areas, including the deck and beautiful views. And oh my--what beautiful views this house had! The house was beautifully furnished and the kitchen was better equipped than my own. It was more like staying at a friend's house while they were out of town than staying in a rental house. The walk to town is easy--the walk back, not so much due to the steep hills. I would point out that if the 4th bedroom is important to you, this one is really an office with a pull out sofa. If it is going to be used as a bedroom, it probably needs some kind of window treatment over the windows. I thought the house was an excellent value, and I very much hope we will be able to return here in the future. Thanks Shaw.
