|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Luxurious organic comfort California King Bed, with additional sleeping arrangements in the living room of the main house (Two Twin Murphy beds fold out from the wall). Large L couch (very comfortable) as well as Aerobed if needed. You can always add on The Guest Casita #3557926 for another room and bathroom (there is a full lot between the two houses). There is a huge indoor outdoor living space- sleep under the stars if you are feeling adventurous (it is completely covered, with the netting/ cabanas). There is plenty of room to spread out here. *
Perfect location for Pilot Season Actors
This is our fourth Laurel Canyon Vacation rental, which shows how much we love the area.
Kristie Holmes purchased this cottage in 2013
We fell in love at first sight. Open house was packed, and no one stayed less than an hour. We competed with four other offers and eventually won out.
Views, Views, Views, and the absolute loveliness and charm...
Kristie's Casita is a lovely sanctuary in the hills above Hollywood. Once you ascend the stairs (OK there's a lot of them), you're glad you came. With it's Spanish old world charm and romantic view below it is a delightful respite from the busy city. There are deer that come by your door to enhance the contrast of a place that is less than 5 minutes (by car) from the heart of Hollywood as well as the Sunset strip. Kristie is wonderful and is very responsive to anything that came up. The internet speed is pretty good and the living room is comfortable for lounging with a great L shape couch and mounted flatscreen that has Uverse for your entertainment pleasure. The ultra modern washer/dryer behind the casita is also quite convenient. The kitchen is beautiful and functional. Overall it was a pleasure. Highly recommended for a short or long stay. Thanks Kristie!
I was surprised by this home because it's like a Mexican hacienda, but it's in the middle of town. Lots of steps and Spanish tile and a whole outdoor area that's like a separate outside home. My only complaint is I overslept the first day because I was so relaxed lol. Very pretty and secluded and clean. You can't hear neighbors which is surprising since youre in the hills. WAAAAYY better than staying at a crap hotel where you pay $30 for parking and have no room to breathe.
We spent three nights here in September 2014. It's a unique rental in a great location. There were a few minor issues with cleaning and broken wifi when we arrived, but the owner was responsive and quick to sort things out, even though she was out of state at the time. There are two properties you can rent. The main property, or the mini casita next door. We rented the main property which has one bedroom (with a very comfy bed), and an ensuite shower room, which doubles as the main house bathroom - worth noting if there are a few of you - we're a couple so it wasn't an issue. There are also two murphy beds on the wall in the main living area. We didn't use them but I imagine they take up quite a lot of space. The property looks just like it does in the photos, but the deck looks so much bigger when you're there. It's huge, and the views over Laurel Canyon are brilliant. You can also see the city in the distance to the right, which looks amazing when it lights up at night. This is a lovely, peaceful place to be, and it's only a short drive from the shops and some of LA's main attractions. I wouldn't describe it as a luxury home; it's small, comfortable and rustic, but it's definitely unique and recommended for people who like something a little out of the ordinary. Both properties have a parking space, but be warned, if you've both got big cars it's a bit of a squeeze.
Great Casita in Laurel Canyon.
If you like to do urban hikes, the Hollywood Sign is a perfect day hike from here.
We stayed in the main Casita and it reminded me of a large cabin we used to go to on Basswood Lake in Canada.
Really nice large window facing south so you can see the lights of Hollywood at night from the living room and kitchen.
We were there for a week and the neighborhood was quiet - couldn't even hear the Laurel Canyon traffic.
Very good washer and dryer in an enclosure behind the main Casita.
We used Google Maps Traffic and never had any problems with traffic - we went to downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Venice, El Porto, up the coast to Rincon, up and down Ventura Blvd many times ...
Kristie, the owner, was very helpful during our stay.
What an enchanted place! The location was perfect as it was super close to all the action in Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, LA, etc. but remote enough to feel like you were in your own canyon hideaway. Highly recommended!!!
This is a perfect getaway for 2! The tile work is absolutely stunning. There is a fabulous view of the hills, and it is very quiet and relaxing.
Pros: Owner was very sweet, accommodating, and easy to deal with. We got a great workout in with the stairs (there are a lot as mentioned in previous reviews. You will probably need to stop or slow down to catch your breath, but by the end of our time there, I felt conditioned! :)
Cons: The murphy beds were not meant for adults, so our crew had to sleep on the couch (we had 3 girls on this trip). Definitely something to keep in mind.
Overall - great stay!
