Overview

Capitol Hill House Rental Photos and Description

As Close as You Can Get to U.S. Capital

The Flat at Library Court is a row house in the historic district with a completely renovated interior and all new furnishings decorated with Washington D.C. flair. You’ll enjoy expansive views of the stately Library of Congress, which is directly across the street. The house backs to Library Court, a 300 year old historic cobblestone street built in the days of horse-drawn buggies.

Why you can’t beat our location: Capitol Hill is a historic residential neighborhood that stretches from the U.S. Capitol, and Pennsylvania Ave, the main corridor, emanates from the Capitol beginning at 2nd Street. We are one block away on 3rd St – the first residential block from the Capitol. The further you get (4th Street, 5th, 6th and so on), the less desirable and less safe the areas become, and the longer your walk to the sites. This is truly as good and as close as it gets! Don’t talk yourself into staying blocks away…

• 1 Block or Less: U.S. Supreme Court, Library of Congress (across the street), Folger (Shakespeare) Theatre

• Within 2 to 3 blocks: U.S. Capitol, U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, Cannon House Office Building, Capitol Mall, U.S. Botanical Garden, South Capital Metro station.

• Tour Bus: The Circulator Tour Bus picks up one block away but most of what you’ll want to see is within a short walk.

• Dining 1 Block or Less: We the Pizza; Good Stuff Eatery (President Obama’s favorite hamburger), Cosi (sandwiches, soups and salads), Starbucks, Sonoma Restaurant and Wine Bar, Hunan Dynasty, Hawk N Dove; Capitol Hill Liquor and Deli

• Stores 1-2 Blocks: Corner Market Grocery Store, Grubb’s Care Pharmacy, Gandel’s Liquor, Riverby Books.

The Penthouse Apartment

Up a flight of stairs, you will enter the Penthouse Apartment of the Flat at Library Court. This two story unit has 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and expansive views of the stately Library of Congress. The kitchen is fully stocked and the unit has wi-fi, cable TV and central air conditioning/heat.

DESCRIPTION OF NEIGHBORHOOD:

Capitol Hill is the largest historic residential neighborhood in Washington D.C., stretching easterly in front of the United States Capitol along wide avenues. It is one of the oldest residential communities in Washington D.C.

As a geographic feature, Capitol Hill rises near the center of the District of Columbia and extends eastward. The Capitol Hill neighborhood today straddles two quadrants of the city, Southeast and Northeast, and a large portion is now designated as the Capitol Hill historic district. The name Capitol Hill is often used to refer to both the historic district and to the larger neighborhood around it.

Capitol Hill's landmarks include not only the United States Capitol, but also the Senate and House office buildings, the Supreme Court building, the Library of Congress, the Marine Barracks, the Washington Navy Yard, and Congressional Cemetery.

The main non-residential corridor of Capitol Hill is Pennsylvania Avenue, a lively commercial street with shops, restaurants and bars. Eastern Market is an 1873 public market on 7th Street SE, where vendors sell fresh meat and produce in indoor stalls and at outdoor farmers' stands. It is also the site of an outdoor flea market every weekend. Please look at our other properties with homeaway.com 913567 and 3526541 in the Capitol Hill area.

We do not provide parking. If you are driving to DC please ask for our DC parking information.

This place was everything we hoped It would be!

  • 5 of 5

The place is great. We would absolutely stay again. It was clean, nicely decorated, and had comfy beds. Location is perfect! Able to walk to so many places on the Mall, close to the Metro stop and pizza just around the corner. Four bathrooms for the eight of us worked great. The dining room table seats eight and was great to play games at. With 5 people under 25, good internet access was a blessing. Safe area, and a caring attentive caretaker.

Simply the best!

  • 5 of 5

This is the best place we have stayed in DC – the best in: location – Capital Hill; well kept – super clean and fragrance free which is so important to me and my family; owner/property manager Bob Finn is great to work with. Very helpful.; walking distance to great restaurants and food market. We loved the Tune Inn which is a great dive bar with all day breakfast, Béarnaise the French Bistro, and We the Pizza – excellent. We also enjoyed the Eastern Market for local shopping/flea market which was also waking distance with more restaurants nearby. The are other great restaurants in DC – and so much to see – we will definitely want to stay at this place the next time me and my family come back to DC. Thank Bob for making our stay so enjoyable!!!

Wonderful DC Rental

  • 5 of 5

I traveled with 15 other chiropractic students to Washington DC for a conference and rented out both of Bob Finn's flats. From Day 1 Bob was wonderful to work with - if I ever emailed with a question he would call AND email me within 20 minutes of my inquiry. He called the second we checked in to make sure everything was good and told me if we needed anything to call him. The location is perfect for anything you want to do in DC, close to the metro, steps from the Capitol Building and not far from all the other museums and monuments. We attend this conference yearly and hope to use Bob's rental every year from now on.

Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have found a more wonderful place to stay in the Capitol Hill area!! We rented both flats for four families to share, and it still felt like we had tons of room. Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom, including the kids. Not a single detail to attention has been left out in this property. We had Thanksgiving dinner catered here, and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to serve a great meal. Being directly across from the Library of Congress definitely makes the property feel grand, and our DC friends who visited the location couldn't believe we got this house. The location is perfect, and everything is within walking distance. There are plenty of pack and plays and highchairs for little ones, even a stroller!! Bob was an absolute gracious host, and available for our every need. He is very timely about all communication, and eager to assist in whatever you might need to make your stay the best it can possibly be. We thought we left some of our child's stuffed animals behind in one of the units, and Bob went above and beyond to try and help us locate them. We actually had them stuffed in a suitcase, but his professionalism and help did not go unnoticed. Also, I should mention that I am usually very picky when it comes to cleanliness of rentals and hotels, and I must say this is one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed. Everything was in brand new condition and very clean!! We had a wonderful trip, and one of the best parts was just being able to stay in this beautiful home. Thanks again Bob!!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We would like to thank Bob for a fabulous stay in Washington, DC. It wasn't our first time in the city albeit this unit facilitated one of our best visits. It could not be located in a better area. The unit is in a safe, friendly neighbourhood with several good restaurants nearby. We like to walk, and everything we wanted to see and do was within walking distance. The unit was very well equipped....we can't think of a thing that was lacking. If we visit the city again and require a larger flat as we did this visit, we will definitely stay here, and we will be letting friends and family know of this rental. Thanks again Bob.
