YOU WILL HAVE THE BEST VIEW IN ALL OF MAINE OF THE
OCEAN AND ACADIA NATIONAL PARK!!! (For about the
price of 2 little stuffy hotel rooms in Bar Harbor!!!!!!!!!!) Will sleep
8-9 comfortably--- 12 with additional bedding. The 2000' chalet is designed for efficiency with No fossil fuels!!!
Central a/c and passive solar highlight the
efficiency and cleanliness of the home. Built recently, so you
are SAFE from lead paint, asbestos, and mold problems in some
older homes. Our home is kept to a high anti-allergenic standard for our guests! We charge no more for this! We have a forced air heat pump
air circulation system with filtration--- that's why there are no
stagnant air areas or damp spots in the home! Plus we have
central a/c even though we are on the Windward side of the
island with cool breezes. The town of Bar Harbor can be
very hot sometimes because it faces North and is blocked
from cool ocean breezes-- so always stay at least one mile
south of the central business district on the water or the
'heights' as the locals call them (where we are the highest
oceanfront property). That's why eagles live in our trees!!!!
You will be at the highest and most center point of what was
called 'Millionaires Row' in the Guilded Age of Bar Harbor.
This is considered to be the most valuable parcel of two acres
on the entire Maine coast. It's rock face was painted by the
Hudson River School painters more than any landmark on MDI.
With three full baths and four bedrooms the home will
handle 7 easily. A full kitchen attached to the Great Room will
let the chef (usually the lady of the house) know that she is not
being shut off in some remote kitchen but is enjoying actively
the spectacular views of the Great Room with her guests and
family-- and interacting with them as well.
Look down on the QM2 and huge ocean-going yachts
entering and leaving Bar Harbor. See eagles sitting in the
trees and their nests right near the house. See whales and
seals in front of the house!
Since we are on the 'windward side' of MDI our breezes
come from the ocean-- free of pollens and insects!!!
You will not want to leave this paradise, so take tons of
photos for great memories AND COME BACK SOON!!!!!
Note: you are receiving a special rate per week
which is a special reduction off the normal rate of $7000 per
week due to special contribution of the Owners in their efforts
help the environment and its wildlife.
NEW LIsting!!!! It was noted in a magazine that this site
is one of the few places on MDI where you can look out to sea
and see almost nothing 'man made.' Due to the protection
of Acadia National Park, the Ocean and the Porcupine Islands
appear almost exactly as they did when the Hudson River
School painters painted them in the mid 1800s. WE DO
NOT SHOW BOOKING DATES ON ANY PUBLIC SITE.

HOUSE IS CURRENTLY FOR SALE AND A SPECIAL
10% DISCOUNT WILL BE GIVEN TO THE BUYER IF THE
DEAL IS ALL CASH!!! PLEASE CONTACT US AT THIS SITE.
Note: Property is already booked for most of the summer.
Inquire about dates you are interested in. We do not show
our booking dates openly for security of the guests.
Special VIP security measures are offered at special rate--
call for details. Additional Note: There has been some
interest in purchasing the property. The house can be
added onto or a huge mansion can be built like the Gilded Age
'cottages' of 1890s. There is no limit on size. Since it is on
the edge of Bar Harbor sewer and water are town available.
Only one of few cottages that is free of any 'bed and breakfast'
restriction for future development. The deed allows for a
two lane road directly to the lot. Two in depth appraisals have
been done on the property. Built on solid granite we do not
have the problem of the Atlantic beaches 'of sand' washing away
along the lower U.S. coast and the rising ocean level. We are
high above the ocean level!!!!
THIS IS A NEW LISTING!!!! (cont.)
The Owners....... are direct descendants of William White
of the Mayflower who had the first baby, Peregrine White,
born in the Colony. Their uncle is Capt. Phineas Stearn,
the organizer of the Boston Tea Party and whose greek
revival house they saved in Watertown, Mass. from the
wrecking ball 'as a great historic place in America.'
The President of Harvard University lives in their aunt's
house, Elmwood, at Harvard. Maria White married
James Russell Lowell, the poet and Elmwood was their
home in Cambridge. All the great poets of the day would
gather at 'White's Hill' (Lowell, Longfellow, etc.) to discuss
poetry and the great causes of the day.
Maria White (had her mother's name Anna Maria
Howard White) and was considered the prettiest girl in
New England, hence, James Russell Lowell fell for her
immediately at 'White's Hill.' Maria White was a famous poet
on her own!
Most spectacular view of the ocean on the Maine coast.
The crown jewel of the Dorr family estate who established
Acadia National Park. Center and highest location in 'Millionaires Row'
of the Gilded Age of Bar Harbor c. 1885-1910. Neighbors were
George W. Vanderbilt to the left and Pulitzer to the right.
Vanderbilt owned 'Biltmore in N.C.'
The breezes on the 'windward side' come off the ocean,
so they are cool and free of pollens and insects!!!!
The town of Bar Harbor is NOT on the windward side-- it
faces North and can be quite warm in the summer without
the ocean breezes--- most of the homes are older as well
and not built to the 'green standard.' Also many older homes also use
fossil fuels which may cause allergy problems along with their
poss lead paint and asbestos insulation throughout and mold.
THIS LISTING IS NEW AS WELL AS SPECTACULAR!!!!
Kitchen part of Great Family Room with full ocean view so
chef can entertain as well as prepare meals and feel they are
part of the 'party.'
Note: 4 bedrooms with huge ocean views. Guest suite
and living room (private). Bedrooms are on 3 different floors
so privacy abounds!
House is recently built and utilizes the ocean views with abundant glass in every direction-- one feels like they are
outdoors instead of inside-- the architect's 'vision!' Huge
wrap-around deck gives one the feeling of sitting on the bow
of a yacht or ocean liner.

Windward Passage has the most spectacular view of the Ocean and Frenchman's Bay in all of Maine!!!!!!!
Property was owned by the Dorr family who
donated all of the land for Acadia Nat'l Park. It was kept
out of the Park because the family loved the special views so
much. Frederic Church painted his Sunset in Bar Harbor in
the area in front of the house. The rare 'Bar Harbor Pink
Granite' fireplaces were built using rare pink granite (unavailable
today because most is in Acadia Nat'l Park) and designed to be
the biggest and most impressive on MDI-- even dwarfing the
main chimney at Jordan Pond House in Acadia Nat'l Park!!!!!!
No funds were spared to build the fireplaces and chimney as
a 'work of art!'
YOU ARE RENTING THE PREMIER WINDWARD SIDE
OCEANFRONT ESTATE. (For about the price of 2 little
stuffy hotel rooms in Bar Harbor!!!!!)
See huge ocean liners like the QM2 and ocean going yachts
right in front of the house and 'look down on them!'
Eagles nest in the trees and soar down from the house area
to fish and then fly over to Bald Porcupine Island in Acadia.
Whales and seals are often seen from the deck of the house--
depending on the time of year.
Deer, foxes and snowshoe rabbits are often seen in the yard.
This is the most prominent lot on the Windward side of
Mt. Desert Island--- so there are usually cool breezes but
the house also has central a/c-- which is unheard of in Maine.
Feel like you are in Alaska-- yet Bar Harbor and
all its excitement is a 5 minute walk to town.
The JP Morgan family would gather in the ocean area
to wait for Mr. Morgan and his 'Corsair' yacht to arrive in BH.
GW Vanderbilt's house was to the left and Pulitzer was to the
right in the Gilded Age c. 1885-1900 of Bar Harbor. The views
towards the ocean are the 'highest' and 'most spectacular!'
The house was designed to be efficient with maximum
glass views and trapazoid windows for viewing the ocean and
wildlife (espec eagles).
Acadia Park is at the bottom of the driveway, the Old Farm
estate in Acadia, has a beach and boat launching area.
The entrance to the Park Loop Road to tour all of Acadia
is a short drive away down Schooner Head Road.
YOU WILL NEVER FORGET YOUR STAY--- SO TAKE TONS
OF PHOTOS FOR SUPER MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
