Awesome Vacation - home away from home - beautiful!
Submitted: October 15, 2011
Stayed: July 2011
We stayed this past July - the home was so much more than we expected. We're from central Florida (kids 12/14) and have never been to North Carolina. Sandi was a joy to work with and very thoughtful with details for our family. Thank you Sandi, you are a God-send.
THE HOME was immaculately cleaned, ready, waiting and welcoming with lights on (it was late) when we arrived. We pre-planned our meals and had needed staples with us, but Ingles Supermarket in Bryson City is great, and Sandi provides a discount card. The kitchen has everything you need plus more- there are even coffee packets for the maker in case you forget. We even used the crockpot - dinner was waiting when we got home! Nicely decorated, very spacious with the kitchen/living room vaulted ceiling. The bedrooms are roomy yet cozy with very comfortable beds. The master upstairs was wonderful. I believe it's a king size bed, also very comfortable. It was a luxury to wake up, open the balcony doors and enjoy the peace and beauty of the morning. The washer/dryer were also nice to have. This was immediately our home away from home and we looked forward to going home each night.
THE AREA is not around the corner from a 7-11... no hustle/bustle here. The morning mist over the mtns and the views in the area never get old. The little country store in Nantahala Gorge about 8mins away has pretty much anything you might need in a pinch. Bryson City's only about 15mins away, so not a big deal if you plan well. *SPECIAL NOTE: Sandi has taken much time assembling a binder of tips/info - be sure to read it thoroughly upon arrival. We're glad we did - we took advantage of her local Zip Lining discount. Thanks, Sandi!
ACTIVITIES: We Ziplined in Nantahala Gorge, visited the Cherokee Museum/Reservation, and Creek Rose gem hunted in Franklin - so/so success here, but fun. We packed lunches most days, and the park in Bryson City's perfect for a picnic. We also enjoyed the lake down the street frm the cabin. BEST: Tubing at Deep Creek (Bryson City)- VERY inexpensive, about $8/tube for the day - SO MUCH FUN. Also White Water rafting at Ocoee River, TN - pricey, and a drive, but a blast! It's just down-river from the '96 Olympics Kayaking location. LEAST: The Great Smoky Mt RailRoad - very nice, and worth it if you like trains, but we'd white water raft instead.
We'd absolutely stay here again, and recommend to friends/family. In fact, we have!
Thanks, Sandi, look forward to working w/you again! Blessings!
