This is our second trip to the The Big house- 19 of us in total 5 families. We are all skiers except one who loves to stay in the Chalet and read. Todd is wonderful to deal with and it feels like our second home. We never go out to eat as we love cooking in the Chef's kitchen. Looking forward to spending next New years at The Big House!
Where do I start..first the owner was amazing at accommodating us for the Spartan weekend. He answered every question I emailed him and in a timely manner. We are a group of friends and strangers that all had a goal in common- to either race the Killington MT or relax. This place has it all and more. While the Spartans were racing we enjoyed playing wiffle ball in the large yard, swinging on the swings, and the fire pit. For the more competitive person there is air hockey and ping pong. One thing I was impressed with was the cleanliness of the beds and towels. Everything was immaculate. Some houses we have gone to have mice feces under mattresses from lack of care, but not one bed had any and I was not afraid to sleep in the sheets. We accommodated 28 adults and no one was in anyone's way. Another fact I was impressed with was that the owner had received a call from NBC who was televising the race saying they wanted to stay there. He could have easily gotten double of what we paid but he kept his word to us. I thank him for this. My friends were in awe when they walked in the place. The only negative comment is that it is SO BIG that we didn't get a chance to chill out and hang out all together. =)
We only had the main lodge but it was a great size and the place really is in amazing condition. The pots, pans, glasss and grills were all great and the game room and bar were amazing. Within a day of staying there we were talking about planning another trip in the future.
Our staff of 24 rented the whole house for a work retreat. It was absolutely perfect. We had plenty of space for break out sessions, if anyone needed privacy they could find it, the game room and hot tubs were a blast, and everyone was comfortable with their bedroom/bathroom situation. The house is really incredible. It's never been so easy for us to make meals (the Timber Chalet kitchen is unbelievable) or to clean up. We had an issue with an oven, called Gus the maintenance man, and he came over quickly to fix it. He was extremely nice and helpful. The only minor complaint is that one bedroom was advertised as two single beds pushed together to make a king, so we figured we could separate them, which is incorrect. But that is such a small issue. We will very likely come back for another retreat in the future. Cell coverage is iffy and the internet is slow if a large number of staff used it at once, but we made it work. The house is amazing, and prior to the retreat our vast number of questions were answered quickly.
The Killington Big House is ideally suited for large groups. It was perfect for our long weekend among friends to celebrate my birthday. It was fully equipped with all of the amenities. We had 20 people staying in the Main House comfortably. The dining room table in the Main House accommodated 24 people and the main living area was large and comfortable. The ski storage area downstairs kept the main living area clutter free and dry. The highlights for our group were the recreation area downstairs and the large hot tub.
I went to KV for the 17th straight year, first time to this house. My group, which consists of (26) thirty-somethings arrived to the property at 5pm on check in date. Crews were there shoveling for our arrival on the heels of a Nor'easter. The house blew us away. Old mountain home charm but completely modernized. We had 4 families that brought the infants and these 4 familes stayed in the Chalet portion of the house while the other couples and singles took up residence in the main house. The division of the two houses made staying here with a mixed group a breeze. Highly recommend if your group fits a similar profile.
As we are catering to a few family reunions this summer we are developing the following offerings:
