Or take the short bike ride to Santa Monica Pier & the ferris wheel/arcades. Be sure to enjoy historic Venice Pier: make it your morning or evening walk and teach your kids to fish, just a few steps down the beach. You can also take a walk in the Historic Venice Walk Streets and the Venice Canals (Venice was originally modeled after Venice, Italy) or stay along the beach and walk up to the colorful 'Venice wall' or south to the Marina jetty and watch the boats come and go. Venice-By-The-Sea is also a short walk to some of the finest and trendiest beach side restaurants and bars in Los Angeles. Surfing, kayaking, boating, biking, boogie boarding, and outdoor summer concerts are right in your backyard. The bike path along the beach extends over 6 miles North and South and is also used for rollerblading and skateboarding. A new skateboarding park is on the sand just a couple blocks north as well. We are also conveniently located near Los Angeles International Airport which is a short 10 minute drive away. As owners of this building, my family has lived in the Venice community for the past ten years, and they are well-known and respected in the area. It is very important to us that our guests have an enjoyable stay at Venice-By-The-Sea. Please contact me through HomeAway if you have any questions or need additional information. We hope to see you soon!
Please Note: Parking at the beach is always limited. We provide one small parking garage at no extra cost. This space is small, so larger cars, vans or SUVs will likely not fit. Small cars and most small SUVs usually fit; however, we cannot guarantee your car will fit in the garage. If your car is too large, alternative street parking is available on a first come, first served basis.
I've grown up in Southern California and have loved the Los Angeles beaches my entire life. My family has lived in the Venice community for the past ten years. My husband and I frequently enjoy visits to Venice where we love going to Happy Hour at the local restaurants and bike riding on the boardwalk. It is very important to us that our guests have an enjoyable stay at Venice-By-The-Sea. We take pride in our property and are responsive to our guests needs. Since we are local, we deal with our guests directly – from key exchanges, to cleaning, to repairs, and anything in between. Our property is fully furnished and has all the amenities of home!
Sandy Shillington purchased this apartment in 2009
This property is in a great location. The beach and bike paths are literally right out the door. It sits on the corner of the Walk Street and Speedway. It's central to everything there is to experience in Venice while being towards the quiet end of town. Just north of Washington, you can walk to some of the best restaurants in LA or grab some coffee.
We have remodeled this apartment and maximized every inch of space, making it highly efficient and comfortable. Having its own parking garage is so convenient because parking is at a premium in the area. The Walk Street is so quaint and visitors love casually running into the rich and famous.
Sandy is a great host with an amazing apartment. Perfect for a smaller family or two people traveling for work, it is very clean and the location is unbeatable. Sandy was very quick to respond to our requests and questions and worked to make our stay as easy as possible. This property has all the amenities of a luxury apartment and the convenience of the beach only steps away.
We really enjoyed our few days here on Venice beach.
First of all the location - the listing is telling the truth, it really is just 40 steps to the footpath and the beach. We found it a pleasant, family safe, quieter part of Venice beach. A short walk north takes you to the more eclectic Muscle Beach and skatepark, while heading south towards Venice Fishing Pier will take you to some great places to each along Washington Boulevard. There are some small convenience stores there too for basic provisions - no car needed, although we had one and took advantage of it to do a larger shop at the Marina Del Rey branch of Ralph's.
The apartment had 2 adult size bikes, and we rented two more at the facilities on the beach close by. Santa Monica pier was a fairly easy cycle journey, and we could lock our bikes and explore Santa Monica itself easily.
In terms of accommodation, there were four of us. The rooms are semi open plan which was fine for us, although if sound proofing is critical might be more tricky. Our teenage boy and girl took a bedroom each while we used the double sofa bed in the living room. This an electric pump inflated air mattress which has the potential to be incredibly comfortable but unfortunately had a leak when we were there. However our host was INCREDIBLY responsive and very quickly found us an alternative mattress.
The apartment itself is well kitted out, the kitchen, living, bathroom and furnishings are all very high quality and there are laundry facilities should you need them. Internet was problematic for us during our stay which might be a temporary issue - worth checking if it is essential for you.
We were glad to be able to take advantage of some of the other bonus facilities offered by the apartment including the beach equipment (body boarding every morning was great fun, and the beach chairs, buckets and spades were good additions) and the rooftop grill where we enjoyed a delightful meal at sunset by an incredible chef (me).
Overall a fantastic stay, a wonderful place to chill out after 3 intense days at Disney, all made possible by great communications from our host and a lovely place to stay.
The apartment was beautiful and comfortable, loved riding the bikes on Venice Beach. Great recommendations regarding the restaurants. Short drive to Beverly Hills and downtown Santa Monica. Only downfall was the poor internet connection :(
Our stay here far exceeded our expectations. The apartment is small and the garage is small, but you will be amazed at how well the space is used. The 5 of us we very pleased with the comfort and space as we spread out across 2 bedrooms (each with a bathroom) and 1 sofa bed. We loved having the coffee pods in the morning and appreciated having free wifi during the stay (there's an iMac also available for use, but we had our own devices). We took advantage of the kitchen area by stocking up on food at the nearby Albertson's and enjoyed using the roof deck and barbecue grill.
The beach along with the walking/biking trail was barely a 1 minute walk from the apartment. While weren't brave enough to take the surf gear in the garage out into the Pacfic, we did enjoy the bikes that were provided and also made use of the beach toys and beach chairs. The garage was small, but we were able to fit a Chrysler 200 in there with a bit of room to spare.
Based on location alone, this would be a wonderful place to stay. Its proximity to Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Washington Boulevard really adds to the appeal.
When we return to the area for a visit we will definitely be looking to book this apartment again.
