Photos and Description of the Cooke City vacation cabin rental
Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

If you are looking for a Yellowstone experience, this is it!! Our large property, only a half mile from the Park is the perfect setting to enjoy both the amazing wilderness of Yellowstone, as well as some nice amenities within walking distance!

Silvergate is located at the NE Entrance to Yellowstone. This is the wildest and most rugged section of the Park, and just inside a few miles is the Lamar Valley, acclaimed as the best place to see wildlife. This little mountain town is very quaint, with a couple of cafes, a general store, gift shops, and several lodges. The town park has swings, picnic tables, and teeter totters.

The Mountain Bluebell is a beautifully restored log cabin, built in the 1940's and was part of a lodge that used to be on the adjacent property. We have added some wonderful comforts for you to enjoy! The cabin has big windows to see the peaks from anywhere inside. The bed is a pillow top queen, and we have a comfy love seat inside as well. You'll love the log dining table restored from the Miner's Saloon in Cooke City. The bathroom is sweet, with a deep soaking tub, and a separate shower. The deck is the best, and you can see the fish rising in the creek's deep blue pools! We're sure you will love the wilderness feel of this amazing location !!

You can hear the sounds of the creek as well as see the glaciers of Amphitheatre Mountain from the bed! We have a fire ring next to the creek for you to roast marshmallows!

The kitchenette has a mini-refrigerator, a bar sink, a single burner stove top, a microwave, coffee maker and a toaster oven.

We have a flat screen with a DVD player that you can plug your I-Pod or CDs into. The deck has a wrought-iron table with an umbrella and 3 chairs. Later in the summer when the water goes down, there's a sandy beach right in front of the deck.

Besides the Soda Butte Creek flowing by, there's a beautiful smaller creek, Willow Creek that flows on the other side of the deck!!

This cabin is in the small town of Silvergate and we like the fact that we're not too far out in the woods, and 'in the middle of nowhere'. You can see some human activity across the creek from the cabin, but it is far enough away to still feel private to us! Because of the creekside location, large lot, and big, close up mountain views, you feel like you are having a wilderness experience just being at the cabin!

We would love to host you at our little piece of paradise. Be ready for an unforgettable trip of a lifetime!

About The Owner

John, Kate and Emily Mickus live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The Northeast Entrance and the Beartooth Mountains have been their favorite place to recreate for decades! 'We just love this area, its like going on a remote backcountry trip but still having some great amenities and the comfort of home!' John's parents purchased the property in 1975 and have created a spectacular combo of vintage log homes and modern comforts.

Combine this with the amazing creekside location in the Yellowstone ecosystem, and you have a vacation to remember! We're sure you will be impressed with the wildlife, mountains, and especially the beauty of our property. We look forward to hosting your family!

Why The Owner chose Cooke City

Because Silvergate allows us to actually 'be' in wilderness, while at the same time, have our cabin comforts. And our cabins provide a peaceful, and inspiring experience!

What a great place to stay. It felt private, and was quite comfortable. The bathroom was very good, and provided a level that you wouldn't generally expect in a cabin. We basically used it as a base for trips to the park, but also to make two trips to Billings. Having the beautiful cabin to come back to was a nice respite. I did some fishing in the Soda Butte and had a little luck there so what fun to walk out the door and throw a line in the water right there.

This is a great place for a couple to stay for a week away. The comforts of the cabin and nearby attractions make this an ideal place to stay.

Really enjoyed the trip but admired the full time residents because they are the ones who get to enjoy life at a slower pace. Great place-would love to live there!

I spent a week at the "Mountain Bluebell" last July and enjoyed every minute of my stay. The Mickus family, owners of this cabin & two (larger) adjacent cabins were most hospitable and detail-oriented in every way. The location of the cabin is perfect for a visitor to Yellowstone Park, as Silvergate is just a few hundred yards from the Park entrance. While I enjoyed breakfast (and WiFi access) most mornings at the nearby "Stop the Car" trading post, I usually had dinner at my favorite local restaurant; the "Beartooth Cafe" just 10 minutes up the road in the quaint village of Cooke City. Be sure to ask the good folks at "Buns & Beds" in Cooke to pack you a delicious sandwich for your day of exploring or fishing in the Park, too! You'll enjoy this cute little cabin if you're not looking for five star luxury (but who reasonably is, in this part of the West?). It's a much more pleasant alternative to the various motels nearby, and there's something about falling asleep to the whispering sounds of Soda Butte Creek, and waking up to the sun illuminating Amphitheatre Mountain above, that will bring me back to the Mountain Bluebell cabin soon...!

These cabins were a great match for our families

We rented Bluebell cabin and our son's family rented the larger cabin next door. This gave us access for our eveniing meals together, playing ball on the lawn, sunning on the beach, playing in the river, cookouts and stargazing on the gravel beach in front of our cabin, time to play games in the larger cabin, ease to visit Stop The Car Trading post for incidentals (such as drinks and ice cream and hamburgers)
Our one room with attached bath was actually quite spacious for two people. We enjoyed our views of the river and mountain. there may be nicer places to stay nearby---but none with our view.
Our son's cabin was spacious enough for all 7 of us to cook and eat together.

Even though it was on the HW 212 and next door to a restaurant, the trees in front completely hid the cabin and made a sound break for the very few cars that drove by. There was absolutely no noise from the Log Cabin Restaurant, nor the SilverGate General Store across the street. We could hear the sounds of the Grizzly Lodge occupants across the river, the sounds of the foxes yipping in the night, the sounds of the river, the sounds of rain on the roof.

We also appreciated the helpfulness of the community--especially when the lights went out and people had candles and lanterns for us to use in getting back to our cabin. In our small cabin, it only took two candles to give us light in our bath and our studio room. It was our coziest night.

When our landlords were on site, we saw them everywhere --even on Lulu Pass giving us advice on where to take the 4-runner next. John was at the ready to fix whatever needed adjusting and sowing us how to work things we were not used to doing. There was wood burning fireplaces in both cabins, but we actually never needed to use them in August.

I would definately recommend both cabins for those who want authenticity and charm close to civilization if needed.

What a great little cabin, very well kept. We stayed for four nights in mid July, the view of the snow capped mountain from the deck was great!!!We watched a black bear swim the creek one afternoon.John and Kate checked in and made sure everything was going ok.We would stay again in a heartbeat. The location close to Yellowstone was a plus, and being on a motorcycle we had to go over the Beartooth pass to Red Lodge. Thanks
