Apartment. This modern ground floor garden view apartment is located in one of the most desirable and convenient areas to stay in San Francisco-- the Marina, within walking distance of the legendary Cable Car route, Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown and our City's famous 'Crookedest Street'. It has central heat and comes with plenty of cotton linens and towels, a walk-in closet with computer desk area, flat-screen television, HD Cable, Starz Movies, high speed wireless Internet, free local and US phone calls, and best of all FREE 1 car garage parking in an extremely difficult to find parking neighborhood.
I am an avid traveler and have visited more than 30 international cities and countries in the States, Europe, North, Central and South America, and Asia. This modern apartment was designed to provide indoor and outdoor areas to enjoy, along with every amenity and convenience to other frequent travelers like myself.
The Owner purchased this studio in 1972
The Marina is one of the few areas where you don't need a car to get around, it's flat, has some of the best sunny weather in town, and there are tons of things to do, eat, drink, and see. This property has been in our family for over 30 years. Stay here and you'll see why we and the rest of the locals fell in love with this waterfront area.
This apartment provides the best of all worlds with a layout encompassing indoor and outdoor private spaces, the ability to walk to shopping, restaurants, and galleries, and the convenience of 1 car garage parking and hop on and off open air tour bus to explore surrounding areas.
There is a ton of pride of ownership in this building and we want this to be reflected in the management, and if there is anything you find that we can do better, please let us know and we will do our best to improve and make it happen for you.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Marina Studio! The place was just as pictured and very tidy. It's definitely very small, but we didn't mind. The location is very central and safe and so much better than staying in a hotel. Mark was really easy to work with, and we would definitely stay there again. My only suggestion would be putting in a full length mirror.
A perfect hideaway place in Marina district. After we learned how to navigate the public bus Muni transportation system, we were able to get anywhere, and we were close to the best attractions in SF. The apartment had a narrow hallway to get to the back of the building, but once there, you were in a very quiet place with a secure fenced back porch. We felt safe sleeping with the windows open (there was no AC, but we didn't need it). Mark (the manager) emailed me back when I asked for a fan, and told me about one in the garage (we used it). The place is exactly like the pictures. The kitchen was great, well stocked. The bedroom had 2 chairs for a small living room experience. The TV was very good, but it would have been better on the wall with a moving arm to turn it towards the chairs and to see it from the bed (rather low to see from the bed). The bed was very comfortable, plenty of pillows. The 4 star instead of the 5 star rating was because we had a couple of broken places (the bed frame needed tacking back on, some of the kitchen chairs needed tightening, and a window would not stay up without a prop). The management was informed about these so they could be fixed sometime, but they were minor. The bathroom is modern and big enough for a small apartment. It could use another shelf and towel rack, but we made do with it. There was space behind the mirror, but the shelves were short so we used the window sill for larger bottles. The shower pressure was medium, but the shower was large. The garage was a single, was hard to drive into due to parking on the street (meant you had to veer out into 2-3 of the lanes on the very busy, main street to get in, waiting until a red light kept traffic away, then quickly trying to get in). We backed in which seemed to be better, so you could get out easily, again needing at least 2 of the lanes to turn out in. But if you need a car (we didn't and did not like driving in the heavy traffic anyway) at least the option was there. It was clean and had 2 free laundry visits available. The coin laundry was just on the back side of the block and we used it. You can walk to everything you would need or the bus is an option. There was a closet with a desk that I used for my computer. The long mirror was behind this desk, so could not be used, and I would have liked to have a long mirror to see when getting dressed. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to couples only (not large enough for kids too). We had fun!
My husband and I just came back from our visit to San Francisco! The marina studio was just perfect for us! The location is great! Within walking distance to lots of good restaurants and to Fisherman's Wharf. We had everything we needed. The garage is a huge plus with this apartment! It is tricky trying to get in and out of it when the traffic is heavy, but we managed just fine. I have some friends who are thinking about a visit to San Francisco and I'm going to refer them to this place!
We were in town to visit our family who lives 2 1/2 blocks away. We spent all day with them and used this apartment for sleeping an showering only. It was perfect! Clean and quiet. Pulling in and out of the garage was tight due to a pickup truck and car parked on either side of the driveway and the busy street. If you time it correctly with the traffic light down the street you can make a wide turn in and out. Passerby would help us see to pull out. A garage remote opener would be helpful so you wouldn't have to jump out and close the door as you blocked the side walk. The apartment entrance is outside the garage which is a pain but very doable. Well lit hallway back to apartment is narrow and would not fit wheelchair and barely fit stroller. Kitchen is like new! We only used refrig but has new oven/ stove, small appliances and all minimum supplies needed. New bathroom is gorgeous but small. Use medicine cabinet behind mirror and window sill for toiletries. (bring your own shampoo, bar soap, toilet paper) Apartment has nice light with 4 windows. Towels were nice quality. Bed&pillows were very comfortable. Flat screen TV and WiFi worked well. Porch with charcoal grill is cute/private/quiet, but we didn't have time to enjoy it. Apartment could use a full length mirror. Nice supply of info about San Fran, buses, maps etc. I also liked the labeled light switches but had trouble figuring out how they work. Ground floor apartment with only one step in hallway. Perfect for a couple only. Very quiet clean apartment! It is hard to believe you were on a busy street when you're in the apartment. It's like your own little quiet oasis. Yet close to everything the Marina has to offer. We will use again for sure!!
We wanted to explore The City, and chose this hidden gem because it had a garage and we wanted a guaranteed parking spot. With parking a premium, this was a great feature. The location was excellent, making it easy to navigate around the city. We walked to the Wharf area and drove to farther areas of the city. The studio was quite, peaceful and comfortable. It had everything we needed. One problem was a huge super truck parked next to the driveway which gave little room to turn into the garage. Being on a busy street, we had to coordinate with the traffic signals and turn in from the middle of the street. This happened a couple of times, which made it a challenge. Regarding the unit...there was no dresser, so we had to live out of our suitcases. There was a storage unit under the bed, but that's not a good substitute. The bathroom was nicely updated. It would have been nice to have some hooks to hang our towels and clothes. A little shelf under the pedestal sink would have been appreciated to put our toiletries. There was no washer and dryer in the unit as stated in the description, but it would have been wonderful to have one. We had to walk around the block to use the laundromat. Other than those incidents, we enjoyed our week stay there.
I'm wrapping up a three day stay here. I must say I was very happy with the space and location. First of all, very hard to find parking in the city. Garage is a huge plus. It's a great location. It didn't hurt that I happened to be here for the final of the America's Cup finals. I walked down to the marina and watched Oracle bring it home. Then walked to Gary Danko for dinner....which was really an amazing experience. I'm confused by the comments from people about the bed. I found it to be very comfortable. It's a firm mattress with a pillow top. I also didn't find the bathroom to be cold. Very quiet much of the day....and certainly at night. I'll definitely come back.
Jogging, Walking, Go-Car Tours, Sightseeing, Movie Theatres, Food & Dining, Big Bus hop on and off Tour Bus stop at the end of the block.
