YELLOW COTTAGE BY THE SEA-CLOSE TO TOWN, BEACH, GOLF COURSE AND PARK

Pacific Grove Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedroom, 1 bath vacation home sleeps 4-5 (1 Queen, 1 K/T Combo, 1 Queen Sleeper Sofa)

This adorable 2-bedroom 1-bath yellow cottage-by-the-sea, complete with rose bushes and a white picket fence, simply radiates charm and stylish comfort. It is located in a quiet residential neighborhood just blocks from downtown Pacific Grove with all its unique shops, restaurants and coffee houses, and and a few steps more to the walking and bicycle trail that runs for 7 miles along Monterey Bay's rocky shoreline. A municipal golf course is also within walking distance.

Entrance to this 1,200-sq-ft house is through a light-filled enclosed porch with paned windows that reveal distant bay views. You'll instantly feel at home in the cozy living room with its ceiling criss-crossed with beams, wooden floors and Carmel stone gas-burning fireplace. A color scheme of deep blues, driftwood and other earthen tones reflect the cottage's proximity to the sea, as does the ocean-themed art and accents. A beige queen sofa bed and loveseat provide comfortable seating for conversation or watching your favorite shows or movies on the flat-screen TV with DVD player.

Upon your arrival you will be greeted by complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine or sparkling cider, passes to the famous Spa on the Plaza in Monterey, tickets for a Scheid Winery tasting in Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We also have provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, plush bathrobes and luxury towels.

Meal preparation will be easy and fun in the updated fully equipped kitchen, which has handsome driftwood colored countertops, a gas stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. There is a large colorful poster featuring a hundred different types of butterflies including the Monarch, which makes a seasonal home in a grove of trees just a few blocks away.

A separate dining room has an oak bureau and a round oak table that expands to seat 6. An old-fashioned built-in glass-fronted cabinet displays a variety of attractive dish and glassware for entertaining family and friends with flair.

Enjoy a glass of wine at small tables for two in the enclosed front or back porch. A fenced-in backyard includes a concrete patio and a neatly trimmed grassy area bordered by hydrangea, potato vine and other flowering shrubs. A grill, a wooden bench and a table and chairs for four are provided for cooking and dining outdoors.

The master bedroom, with trademark cottage-style white board-and-batten walls and shell art, has a white dresser and bedside tables and a king bed fitted with crisp white luxury linens, Navy blue duvet cover and nautical pillows. The king can be converted to two twins, if desired.

A second bedroom, also adorned with shell art, features a handsome dark wood antique four-poster queen bed with a sea-foam green, driftwood and tan duvet cover, taupe coverlet and coordinating euro pillows. Matching nightstands and dresser complete the picture.

A bright sunny bathroom with white wainscoting and summery yellow walls has a free-standing tub with a shower curtain in sea colors, a pedestal sink, white tiles and tropical fish art. Spa products and battery operated candles are provided to enhance a deep relaxing bath.

A washer and dryer are located in a garage that is accessible through the back yard. The garage also holds everything you need for an outing to the beach, including chairs, umbrella, cooler and towels.

You will undoubtedly fall in love with this cheery house and soon feel like it is your very own beach cottage. We look forward to opening our hearts and home to you.

From the Texas heat to the California coast....
well worth the effort. Comfortable house in a good
location. Everything we needed. Our only issue was a matress that needs replacing. Over all a
good experience and value.

Charming Vintage Home Made For Perfect Vacation!

  • 5 of 5
This charming vintage home far exceeded our expectations, and I know of no way to say what we thought of our stay in a few short words. The home itself has been superbly maintained, and the furnishings and decor are absolutely beautiful! All of the amenities are well-thought out, with our every possible need in mind. The natural light adds to the airy, spacious feel. The location could not be better, placing us close to everything! The house has been so comfortable that we lounged here a bit each day just to enjoy its ambiance, and it also has been the perfect "base" from which to visit many local attractions. From this location we visited Hearst Castle, Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey, Asilomar Beach State Park, took the 17-Mile Drive, and traveled scenic Highway 1 to dine at Big Sur Lodge! Local walks to coffee shops and restaurants were also highlights.

Car: recommended

Pacific Grove is home of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the main entrance to 17-Mile Drive. Within this charming city, known for its old-fashioned, friendly downtown and colorful historic Victorian homes, are spectacular vistas and recreational opportunities. Surfing is ideal at Asilomar State Beach. Kayaking and scuba diving allow you to visit with playful otters. Tide pooling for the nature enthusiast is available at several beaches. A walk or bike ride along the shoreline recreation trail offers breathtaking views of paradise.

Visit the Museum of Natural History, Point Pinos Light-house, tour Asilomar State Park, or enjoy the Sunset anywhere between Lovers Point Park and Asilomar Beach. Pacific Grove is known as Butterfly Town U.S.A. since every October the Monarchs migrate to the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary where they winter until February. Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course is the top rated municipal golf in the state with over 70,000 rounds played annually. It is referred to as poor man's Pebble Beach due to its proximity and resemblance of Pebble Beach courses.

Enjoy a walking tour of downtown Pacific Grove. The town had its beginning in 1875 as a summer Methodist camp where several hundreds assembled to worship amidst rough tents. Tour brochures are available at the Chamber.

Pacific Grove's Past

The town had its beginning in 1875 as a summer Methodist camp, where several hundred people assembled to worship amidst rough tents. In time, the fragrant pines and fresh sea air brought others to the Pacific Grove Retreat to rest and meditate. The first camp meeting of the Pacific Coast branch of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle was held here in June 1879. Fashioned after the Methodist Sunday school teachers' training camp established in 1874 at Lake Chautauqua, N.Y., this location became part of a nation-wide educational/cultural network.

In November 1879, after the summer campers returned home, Robert Louis Stevenson wandered into the deserted campgrounds: I have never been in any place so dreamlike. Indeed, it was not so much like a deserted town as like a scene upon the stage by daylight, and with no one on the boards -- from 'The Old Pacific Capitol'

By 1889, the resort was incorporated, becoming the City of Pacific Grove. The last P.G. Chautauqua was held in August 1926.

The Monterey Peninsula is unique in its combination of breathtaking natural resources and a multiplicity of cultural and entertainment possibilities. You can find something for every possible taste. For nature lovers, there is the diversity of mountain and sea, for picnicking, surfing, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, beachcombing, bird-watching, kayaking, scuba diving, tidepooling, biking and more. If you want a man-made excitement, we have art galleries galore, excellent fine-art museums, local theater, outstanding restaurants, boutiques, a natural history and a children's museum, a world-class aquarium, and that's just for starters. History buffs will have a field day exploring the adobes of Monterey. There's so much to do that you cannot possibly do it all in one visit, which means you will have to come back.
