LANG-RI-LA :ISOLATED LAKE FRONT HOME IDEAL FOR FAMILY GET AWAY

New Tazewell House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 14-16)

A beautiful 5 bedroom lake house on Norris Lake located on a private cove just off the main channel with 600 feet of shore line and year round water. The walk to the lake is about 100 yards. We positioned the house on the property for the best view of the lake from the back porch. Like the majority of property on Lake Norris, the slope to the lake is steep. There is no shallow water around my property. The water gets quite deep quickly which means swimming off our dock is great!! The rental is ideal for a perfect family get away. At night I stand on the deck, which spans the entire back of the house and is 16 feet wide, and take in the silence. Nothing to distract you except for the sounds of nature. Norris Lake is one of the cleanest lakes in the south. Fishermen come from all over the south to find a wide range of exciting fishing available year round. We are located between mile 130 and 131 on the Lake. Closer to 130.

Closest Marine is Norris Landing. They have fuel, boat rental, jet ski rental and a great restaurant, “Jimmy’s Place” which is good for family dining and music on the dock weekends.

Boat traffic is accommodated with several slips available. We recommend the 3

three wing special!!!!

About The Owner

I own a film and video production company in Chattanooga TN. Wonderful family, 3 kids 1 grandson and a pile of others!

The Owner purchased this house in 2007

Why The Owner chose New Tazewell

My brother and I wanted a place that was away from the day to day grind. A place that we could come to and be alone with our families. We found it on Norris Lake

What makes this house unique

Isolation is number one. You and your guests will enjoy restful solitude. It is rare that I visit and don't see deer, turkey, racoon and one of the bald eagles that live about a mile up the lake. Find the time to visit the lake first thing in the morning. Its magical.

Secluded Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5
This trip was per our eldest son's request, as he is entering his last year of high school and this may be our last family vacation with him. He requested "secluded", so he could get away from people, and near water to boat and jet ski. This home was exactly what he wanted. We saw no other people, except for occasional boats passing by while we were relaxing on the dock
We went with 5 teenagers, ages 14-18,who loved every minute of our stay. The days were spent on the water, as we were able to tie off our boat, canoe and jet ski on the private dock. This feature was a nice convenience. The evenings were spent preparing large meals together in the well appointed kitchen, followed by card games, movies or relaxing in the rocking chairs on the large covered back porch.
The girls enjoyed the jetted tub included in the master suite...which they took turns using most evenings after dinner. The double shower was a nice feature as well.
If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday, you will enjoy the solitude this home provides. I was unable to connect with my IPad or computer using my air card or Verizon hotspot, which forced me to truly put work behind me for a week and enjoy our family time together.
The hill behind the house is steep as indicated in the description. Our teens had no problem "running" up and down it. We older people had to take our good ole' time.
The description and photo's are accurate. Property clean and well maintained. Would recommend staying here.

Nice home and owner, lots of issues

  • 3 of 5
First, I want to stress that this is a very nice home overall. It was clean when we arrived and ready for us. The home is very private which we enjoyed (albeit a bit hard to find due to an unmarked and hidden driveway). The owners have been very responsive from beginning to end, including acknowledging our concerns. I'd like to think our feedback will help improve people's stays in the future. However, there were alot of issues- some of which may or may not be fixed - that I would have appreciated knowing about, so that's why I'm writing this.

First off, the listing says "three bathrooms".. however, upstairs is three of the five bedrooms. There is one bathroom upstairs for three bedrooms, and it has no shower. So that means that there are alot of people sharing the two showers if you have the number of guests there that the descriptions suggests this house can accommodate. We all found it extremely puzzling that there was just a bathtub upstairs, no shower.

The shower downstairs (not the master bath) during our stay only had extremely hot water and then scalding hot water.. that never was remedied during our stay despite our repeated complaints about it. People had to turn off the shower, clean, then turn it on and hurriedly rinse off before the water returned to near boiling temp levels. The shower in the master worked fine.

Be aware that the path leading down to the dock is EXTREMELY steep (just as advertised). They aren't kidding. It's not easy making that trek. The dock itself was our biggest irritation all week long. The dock wasn't "seated" against the VERY slippery stairs (any stairs under waters were algae covered and dangerously slippery) and we had a few minor mishaps with folks trying to navigate the treacherous hop from the stairs to the dock. I hope the owners will fix this because it was really unsafe. Also, the dock ladder was missing during our entire stay. I also assume this will be fixed. But when you take a lake house vacation, we did not expect to have these issues. It made for some very dangerous and frustrating moments and it's just not acceptable for this type of rental.

Overall, the area is beautiful, the lake was warm, the house (other than the lack of a shower upstairs) does a fine job of accommodating at least 10 people. The kitchen is well appointed. The basement is not finished but does have games. In the end I would not go back unless I knew alot of these issues were fixed, but we had a memorable time.
