Awesome Cabin and Owner

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I decided to vacation fly fishing this year for the first time in more than a decade. When he contacted the owner of this cabin they immediately started talking about fishing and the best spots/flies and rigs for success this time of year. I called later to discuss amenities and was assured that the cabin was well equipped. We arrived after dark and the lights were on and a friendly note on the counter. The owner stopped by the next morning to greet us and see if we needed any recently gathered local fishing information. He advised us on several areas of interest and on what the fish were eating. We spent a beautiful day on a little known reservoir and came back to find a bunch of fresh picked mushrooms awaiting us for dinner.

Our visit took place during severe flooding in neighboring Colorado so the fishing conditions were not at all what expected. The Platte river was high and muddy, not normal for fall. The owner stopped by the end of the second day to see how we were fairing and told us he would be happy to take us down the river by boat because with the rise in the water this was the best way to catch fish. The next day we set off early and spent a gorgeous day fishing, watching wildlife and learning about local history.

We stayed for a week, caught and released some great fish and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this beautiful log cabin. Everything works well and the washer and dryer are an added bonus when you are coming back wet and tired from daily activities.

When you rent this cabin you are getting a really comfortable place to stay with the bonus of a local fish and game expert as an extra perk. The owner knows his stuff and is a pleasure to work with.

Only downside (or maybe upside), if you are locked to your cell phone and have verizon as a carrier please note that their coverage is spotty and not available within the cabin. Wireless internet worked fine.

Great Place! Highly Recommend!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this awesome cabin and we were very happy with how nice and updated it is. Had everything we needed for our weeks stay including an owner who actually came to check on us to make sure everything was just right (which is some personal attention you just don't see these days.) Only one suggestion I would make and it is very minor and that would be the addition of another shower because we had a fairly big group other then that it was PERFECT!

Wonderful get-away

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Two nights was all we had time for and we wish that we'd had time to stay longer!! Enough room to spread out but laid out in a manner that allowed plenty of time for us all to spend time together, too. LOVE the large dining table and well-equipped kitchen. Beds were super-comfortable. The owner stopped by twice and gave us a great tip on where we could do some good fishing and we happily caught some beautiful trout. We sincerely hope we have the opportunity to return.

Absolutely wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is even better then pictured/described. Spacious, comfortable and clean, the only thing it lacks is perhaps a more secluded setting. However, being able to walk down the block to the Bear Trap for a drink or bite to eat was convenient. We saw deer on the street walking home one night! Two quite different mountain ranges are nearby for varied hiking outings. This region is completely serene, unspoiled - we were immediately relaxed and the locals are friendly, helpful, and fun to be around. Yet at the same time, there is much to do here. We found the owner to be a true gem. We will definitely be back, this time with extended family in tow! We can't wait to share this lovely place.

Excellent location and accomodations!

  • 5 of 5

Owner was extremely accomodating with expertise in the area's fly-fishing opportunities. We had a really nice stay in this cabin. Owner visited twice to provide knowledge of fishing conditions and ensure we were well taken care of. Thanks so much for an amazing vacation! We look forward to coming again!
