Guestbook comments from the owner
Ann Hoover asked me to email you tell you about the cottage that she rents in Inverhuron.
My family has rented this cottage from her for the last three years--for 3 weeks each summer. My family has been vacationing in Inverhuron for my whole life (35 years) and my Dad for his whole life (75 years!). This is the best cottage out of the MANY we have rented over the years.
The location of the cottage could NOT be better. The steps off the deck lead right to Inverhuron Beach. If you are unfamiliar with Inverhuron beach--it is a beautiful, huge, relatively uncrowded sandy beach with sandy shallow access for swimming. Perfect for kids! However, many of the cottages on the beach require parking far away and hauling stuff into them. Ann's cottage is one of the last ones along the road where there is a parking spot right at the cottage.
There are four good sized bedrooms, 3 of them with double or queen sized beds, and one room with bunks. Ann just redid the bedrooms this past year and they are really bright and inviting!
She also redid the kitchen 2 years ago--and it is very clean, bright and new looking! The kitchen is well stocked with plates/utensils/cups/pots/pans, etc...yet there is plenty of cupboard space for you to put your groceries.
There is one bathroom (with a shower) in the house located on the main floor.
There is a dining room with a great view, a living room with a tv, and a sitting area downstairs as well. However, the porch really becomes the dining room and living room while you are there. The porch has a great view of the lake, yet is private and shaded by a large trees for most of the day. Ann has a gas grill on the porch as well as a table for 6 with an umbrella. She also has a clothes line for hanging wet bathing suits, towels, etc.
One of the best things about Inverhuron are the sunsets--and at Ann's cottage you watch the sunsets from the comfort of your own porch. After the sun goes down, there is a campfire pit on the beach outside of the cottage where you can roast marshmallows and enjoy a few (!!) s'mores if you like.
Grocery stores are about a 10-15 drive into the town of Kincardine where there is also a bagpipe parade every Saturday night. A hit with little kids!
My family that vacations at Ann's cottage is multigenerational- from 4 years old to 75. Everyone loves it. There is a playground/park down the street from the cottage, a wonderful biking/running path along the lake out to a point, a little store
